Seimei and the eight other ninjas with mastery over the large-scale Earth Release Ninjutsu acted fast and began altering the terrain.
First, they used the Earth Release: Moving Earth Core, a B-rank Earth Release Ninjutsu, to create multiple 30x30 square meters wide and 10-25 meters high elevated platforms behind and in front of the town walls.
These sturdy elevated platforms will keep Konoha ninjas safe from most chakra beast attacks while allowing the ninjas to throw explosive tags and destructive Jutsu at them freely without worrying too much about their safety.
Seimei couldn't help but think about tower defense games from his previous life.
Unfortunately, this world did not have mobile phones, the internet, or online games.
However, the chakra beast riot now gave him the perfect opportunity to play tower defense games live, even though he had to contribute to building these towers.
Plus, the real-life defense game directly raised the difficulty of survival to hell level. He couldn't be careless. If he died, he would really die.
This is life after all—no second chances.
Fortunately, he had enough strength to defend the city with his fellow ninja without dying, hopefully.
But he didn't mind.
Unless some S-rank chakra beast suddenly popped up right in front of him, he was confident in his survival abilities.
Next, Semei and other earth release experts went ahead and altered the terrain within a radius of 300 to 400 meters outside the city walls to hinder the movement of the chakra beasts as much as possible.

They used the Earth-style Rampart Jutsu to reshape the earth into various shapes, like a steep, needle-like mountain or several high yet narrow passages that would make it difficult for the chakra beasts to launch an assault on them with their full strength.
They even created great depressions around the city wall and filled the pits with water to trap the chakra beasts and make it difficult or impossible for most of them to reach the town wall.
Seimei had to say that the commanding ninja was an expert at controlling the battlefield and defending against hordes of chakra beasts.
Sure enough. Even though the outcome of many battles in this world depended on individual strength, group battle tactics were still highly developed.
After all, it could become quite handy in the large battlefields where most ninjas have similar strength, or against the chakra beasts, the nemesis of humanity.
Seimei could clearly feel that while he was altering terrain on a large scale, and setting up traps within it for the chakra beasts.
Although the final battle would still be quite intense and many would die, the preparation would at least make head-on fights against the chakra beasts in the middle and final stages easier, potentially saving many lives.
In addition to Seimei's nine-member Earth Release group, the Earth-style experts stationed in the eastern and western checkpoints also contributed.
By the time they were done altering the terrain, the chakra beasts were still seven to eight kilometers away.
However, they were approaching fast.
So, Seimei immediately rejoined his original group consisting of Senju Haku, Uchiha Sorata, Aburame Shoji, and Hyuga Ginjo.
At first, they were worried that Seimei had spent too much chakra during the terrain change operation.
However, when Seimei released the restraint (a simple seal to hide chakra capacity) on his chakra, it became clear to everyone that they had nothing to worry about.
Although Seimei contributed most during the earth alteration earlier, he still had more than 90% of his chakra reserve thanks to his growth in recent years.
Plus, his chakra recovery speed had improved a lot, too.
Seimei guessed that his passive recovery ability was enough to recover the chakra he had just spent within half an hour.
He assumed that in a decade or two, his chakra recovery capability should reach or surpass his uncle, Senju Hashirama.
He could recover from chakra exhaustion and refill his chakra reserves completely within thirty to forty minutes of passive chakra regeneration.
And you must understand that he was recovering almost a tailed-beast level of chakra within that time.
Seimei seriously pondered if it was possible for him to truly ever exhaust all of his chakra. After all, Hashirama could just clap his palms and enter the freaking sage mode within seconds.
If that wasn't exaggerated, he didn't know what was.
Hashirama could cast the Sage Art: Wood Release: True Several Thousand Hands, a Jutsu that created a massive wooden construct that was at least 4,000 meters tall with just a clap of the hand.
Seimei often doubted whether his uncle even needed hand seals to cast normal Wood Release Ninjutsu at all. Even that clap to cast the Wood Human or Wood Dragon Technique was probably just a habit instead of a necessity.
He couldn't say for sure.
He decided to ask him once he finished this battle against the chakra beasts and returned to Konoha.
Oops…
Did he just set a red flag for himself?
It didn't matter anymore. But he thought he should still be careful not to raise death flags in the future.
Who knew if fate, the fickle lady, would find it interesting to play a joke on him?

Seimei shivered a little. Just the thought of it was terrifying.
Senju Haku, who was standing beside Seimei, saw him shiver a bit. He thought that his young clansman and heir of the Senju clan was a little shaken at the sight of the horde of chakra beasts.
It was natural.
He also felt like that when he had to step onto the battlefield for the first time. So, he thought it would be a good thing to comfort him and help him calm his mind.
Senju Haku said, "Are you feeling overwhelmed by the sight of thousands of chakra beasts?"
"Don't worry."
"You are already quite strong for your age."
"During the head-on confrontation, make sure to only fight against the beasts you are confident you can beat, and unleash your power."
"Always keep an eye on your surroundings when you are in the middle of combat."
"For the chakra beasts you can't handle, leave them to your nearby comrades or team up with them to fight against them."
"Never let your fears slow down your movement and thinking process during the battle."
"Exploit every chance you get to weaken and kill the chakra beasts. And if you feel that an attack is impossible to dodge, try your best to minimize the harm the attack inflicts on you."
"That's all you and we can do to kill these beasts while preserving our lives."
Hearing the advice, Seimei was stunned for a moment.
He wanted to say that he wasn't afraid of the chakra beast, but he was more worried about the death flags he raised and about Lady Fate.
But he quickly composed himself and smiled warmly at Senju Haku. Although this guy here misunderstood him, his concern for him was genuine.
Seimei expressed his gratitude, "Thank you. I will keep this in mind."
"Let's survive the upcoming battle and protect the town together."
Senju Haku smiled slightly and gave a slight nod, "We will."
Yes, we will.
No. We must protect the town and survive the battle.
Seimei thought as he clenched his fists tightly.
All the preparations were complete.
Now, it was time to wait for the chakra beasts and the battle to finally begin.
