Chapter 168 - Chapter 167: Seimei and Company Join the Party!

"Goblin Slayer? Is that something to be proud of? Why are you acting so smug?"

Uchiha Touma looked at Seimei with a strange expression. His voice was filled with doubt.

Did this guy finally go insane? Touma couldn't help but fall into deep thought.

Seeing Touma's thoughtful look, Seimei, who was aware of his friend's habits, knew that the other party was mocking him. Imaginary black lines instantly covered Seimei's forehead.

He retorted with a humph and then clicked his tongue. "Tsk! Tsk! You ignorant fellow, you won't understand the grandeur of the great Goblin Slayer, no matter what I say."

Of course, they wouldn't understand. Seimei was talking about a certain legendary silver-ranked adventurer, covered in armor, and always ready to slay more goblins like cutting random vegetables.

It was one of his favorite anime characters and a true warrior from his past life.

That character was the great Goblin Slayer. Armed with a silver short sword and full-body armor, that great adventurer had just three goals in his life.

Slay goblins.

Slay goblins.

And slay even more goblins.

Yeah…and probably killed some ogres, trolls, giant eyes, and menacing servants of a demon king.

Unfortunately, he couldn't explain all that to his teammates.

At this moment, he felt that it would have been great if he had some fellow Earthlings to share his humor in this foreign world.

Cough cough…was he feeling emo again?

Ahem…never mind. It was time to focus on the goblins ahead.

"Whatever! Let's go down there and slay some goblins." Seimei looked down the cliff, smiled, and continued. "If we delay any longer, our toolmen down there…cough cough…I mean, those brave warriors down there will die."

Touma and Haneda stared blankly at him.

Then, they shook their heads and focused ahead.

Haneda's eyes glowed with a faint blue light as he activated his Chakra Eyes. "I don't know about being a goblin slayer, but yeah, we should hurry up."

Touma asked, "What if those samurai and ninjas down there suddenly attack us, thinking of us as a hostile force?"

Seimei sighed and replied, "That's only natural. In this world, constant vigilance is the ultimate key to survival. If I were to be in a life-or-death struggle and some kind soul suddenly appeared out of nowhere, claiming to aid me, I would be wary of them, too."

"My first thought wouldn't be one of gratitude. Only doubt and suspicion."

Touma's gaze seemed to turn even deeper as he seemed to think about something deeply.

He took a deep breath, pulled out a kunai, put his index finger into the kunai's ring at the end of its handle, and began to spin it.

He said, "Trust is a rather expensive commodity in this world, huh?"

"Not that we can do anything about it. But what do we do then?"

Seimei stayed silent for a moment and replied, "Don't worry. I will let my shadow clones handle it. They are strangers to us, anyway. It doesn't matter whether they are wary of us. We just need to focus on our job."

Seimei let out a smirk. "Besides, they are too weak to threaten us."

Hearing this, both Haneda and Touma let out a chuckle.

That was true.

Why should they worry about the opinions of those strangers?

They weren't important. Whether they lived or died didn't matter to them.

Would they be wary of them if they appeared to confront the goblins now? Would they be suspicious and launch attacks on them instead?

There was no need to think about such things.

They would just go in, take out the goblins, capture some of these ugly critters alive, and extract information about their hideouts.

Everything else? They didn't matter.

It was fine as long as the samurai or the ninjas below didn't attack them all of a sudden.

If they did…

Well…

They would be in for a world of pain.

"Let's go down."

Touma said and immediately sprang into action, leaving Seimei and Haneda behind.

Seimei and Haneda looked at Touma with amused smiles.

Seimei shook his head lightly and remarked, "So impatient."

Meanwhile, Touma threw the kunai in his hand, which was bound to sturdy yet thin steel wires, toward a solid rock on the cliff's surface. As the steel wire entangled with the rock, Touma held the rest of the steel wire and jumped down the cliff, climbing down like a true mountain climber.

He was using the ninja steel wire like a sturdy mountain climbing rope to climb down the cliff swiftly.

He pressed his foot on the vertical surface of the cliff and kicked the cliff lightly, allowing his body to be pushed away from the cliff's vertical surface.

At the same time, he loosened his grip on the steel wire, causing him to climb down as his body gradually came close to the vertical surface of the cliff.

As his body got closer to the cliff, he tightened his grip on the steel wire. Once he got close enough to the cliff again, he gently kicked the cliff's vertical surface to climb down using the same technique he used a few moments ago.

He maintained this rhythm to climb down the cliff within seconds.

However, when he was just 10 meters above the ground, he reinforced his body with chakra, kicked the cliff's vertical surface hard enough to leave a few spider-web-like cracks, let go of the steel wire, and shot forward toward the merchant caravans and the goblins while still being in the air.

At this point, he was slightly above ten meters from the ground. He could see all the goblins and humans clearly.

A faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips as he muttered, "A perfect time to unleash some high altitude blasts."

While he was still in the air, he quickly formed a series of hand seals.

"Get out of the way!" He shouted as he supercharged his Jutsu with more Fire Release chakra to increase its power.

Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique

Touma exhaled streams of fire from his mouth, which condensed in front of him, turning into a massive five-meter-wide fireball.

The moment the fireball appeared, it immediately caused the surrounding air to distort with its scorching heat.

Then, the fireball charged forward like a rocket from above. Its target was the goblins that were still fighting the ninjas and samurai hired by the merchant Satoshi.

Although the samurai and the ninjas quickly retreated far away from the goblins after the sudden warning, they could still feel the heatwaves radiating from the giant fireball above their heads.

Meanwhile, the group of five C-rank goblins was completely dumbfounded by the sudden turn of events.

By the time they could react, the fireball was already upon them.

The fireball hit two goblins directly while crashing on the ground with tremendous force.

BOOOOOOM!!!

Within a few milliseconds, the giant fireball exploded, turning the two goblins, who were directly hit, into ashes.

The fireball exploded, spreading a terrifying shockwave and scorching flames outwards.

The other three goblins, who had just retreated a few meters, were hit by the shockwave first before being engulfed in scorching flames.

They didn't even have the time to scream as the shockwave first shattered their bones and displaced their internal organs. Then, the scorching hot flames turned them into nothing but charred, dead bodies within seconds.

From the beginning to the end, they couldn't quite understand how the fireball suddenly appeared in the air and blasted them apart.

Their souls ascended to the Pure Land while questioning their entire lives.

As the explosion subsided, the ninjas, samurai, and the guards hired by Satoshi, the merchant, looked at the devastation left by the giant fireball in bewilderment.

At the explosion site, there was a large, blackened crater about 10 meters across. The surrounding ground was also completely destroyed, with several spider-web-like cracks. The fire was still burning in the area.

The seasoned experts only had one question on their minds.

Wasn't the Great Fireball Technique supposed to be a Jutsu with no killing power above the Genin-level?

If so, then what the hell was that?

Are you sure it was a C-rank Fire Release Jutsu that was mostly used for distraction and crowd control, and not some powerful B-rank Jutsu with superior lethality?

By this time, Touma also landed on the ground, attracting the attention of the humans and goblins alike.

Seimei and Haneda watched all this from the top of the cliff.

Haneda chuckled dryly and said, "He may be strong, but he's still a showoff."

Seimei smiled and replied, "Come on. We are young. We have all the right to show just how impressive we are, as long as we don't overdo it."

"Still, let's go down and join him. Can't let Touma enjoy the party alone."
