~Alex's POV
The next morning, I stood by the wide windows of my bedroom, sipping my black coffee and watching the early sunlight crawl over the land that belonged to me, my land, my pack. The scene was calm, a lie, given the storm brewing under the surface. I could already feel the chaos Cedric was trying to bring into my world, and it ticked me off.
Luca barged in without knocking, and I didn't even flinch. I raised my cup slowly, the ceramic cool against my lips. He never came in like that unless there was trouble.
"What now?" I asked, my tone sharp but steady, my eyes still fixed outside.
"It's Cedric," Luca said, sounding breathless like he had run up here. "He's gathered his warriors and announced that he's coming for us—today."
I set the coffee cup down slowly, my hand steady even though my heart thumped once, hard, like a warning bell. "He's coming here?"
Luca nodded, his face tight. "Yeah. He's not wasting any time."
