~Bella's POV
The hallway was quiet, only the soft sounds of nurses moving around and machines beeping faintly in the background. I pushed Mia slowly toward the courtyard, watching how she took in every small thing, a poster on the wall, the shiny floor tiles, even the faint smell of disinfectant.
It made me realize just how much she had missed. Ten whole years.
We reached the doors to the courtyard, and as they slid open automatically, a gentle breeze hit us. The sunlight spilled over everything like gold, and the trees swayed lightly in the wind. It was warm, but not hot, just perfect.
Mia closed her eyes and tilted her head up, letting the sun kiss her pale face. She didn't say a word at first. She just breathed.
"God, I missed this," she finally whispered.
I smiled, my eyes stinging. "You'll get to feel it every day now. No more tubes, no more dark rooms."
She slowly opened her eyes and looked around. "Is that a bench over there, near the flowers?"
