Janice asked worriedly when she saw that something was weighing on his mind.
Christopher did not hear her question at all.
He was thinking about what he had done. He really didn't understand why he would do so many seemingly unreasonable things, like purchasing this ridiculously overpriced gem.
He could find an explanation for everything else.
For example, maybe he pretended to be poor because he didn't want to meet a material girl.
Perhaps that marital fraud was used to cope with her grandfather's urging.
Perhaps he dispatched his lawyer group to protect his reputation. After all, it was not a glorious thing to have a wife who had a criminal record.
As for why he was stabbed from protecting her, that was even easier to explain.
That was because he had a strong sense of justice.
All of this seemed to be explainable, except for the gemstone in his hand.
It was not worth that much.
