"Did Mr. Bateman eat all the food? Did he say anything about it? Was he satisfied?"
"What are you talking about? What the hell did you do? He didn't even bother."
Sophie was still angry. When she heard what he said, she threw the lunchbox into Finn's arms and furiously walked towards the car.
Finn, on the other hand, glanced at the lunchbox in his arms. It was still weighty, which means no one had eaten anything from it and thought, 'Did Chris not eat any of it? How is that possible?' He was surprised to discover that, and then he hurriedly followed her.
"Sophie, don't be mad. I'll plead with Mr. Bateman in a few days. Maybe he will allow me to stay, for old time's sake since we once grew up together."
Along the way, Finn comforted Sophie as he drove. Sophie didn't even want to look at him.
Finn stopped talking, and focused at the intersection ahead and said, "Sophie, do you want to go back to the pet center, or..."
"Take me home."
