Kayden furrowed his brow and pursed his lips tightly as he pondered on Leo's words. After what seemed like a long while, he finally uttered, "I want to protect Mommy."
For as long as Kayden could remember, Zoey and Kayla were the only two people who really mattered to him. They were the only two who could get emotional responses from him. His only aim was to become stronger and powerful. No one would be able to bully them if he was strong and powerful enough. He wasn't interested in being a kid or putting his focus on playing and eating. When Leo told him that Zoey would very much rather he behaved like a kid at times, Kayden began to wonder if this was really Zoey's wish for him.
Leo gently flicked his finger on Kayden's forehead and teased, "What am I supposed to do if you do my job, Son? Protecting your mommy is my responsibility. You shouldn't be taking over my responsibilities."
