Chapter 19 - Ch19: First Steps

Nothing much changed in Qi Shou's life for the next month except discovering the abnormality of his parents and brother-in-law.

Finally, Qi Qingluo had taken her first steps at the age of 1 year and 1 month.

It was a momentary burst of surprise and celebration, similar to the previous time, except, it was a bit less grand.

But the one who was most happy was Qi Shou as the system finally gave him something worth celebrating.

It was a manual for Body Refinement, though it differed from the cultivation realm.

It served to expel any toxins in the body, refining it to suit a purer and denser form of spiritual energy.

Most humans couldn't even dream of getting such a good thing.

Naturally, its cost was exorbitant and so was its rarity.

Only children worthy of it would be put into the crucible for it.

No one would want to waste it on a talentless prick.

And then again, the manuals themselves were few and far between, only being found since ancient times and no one had ever heard of someone creating one.

Yet what the system gave Qi Shou was different.

It was for Qi Qingluo, a child no older than a year and a month.

If one went ahead to look further, Qi Shou was happy to help his daughter get stronger for the uncertain future.

Since he was more or less useless when it came to fighting power, it was better for her to stand up for herself.

"She's really wonderful," he blurted out, having no idea about the conversation surrounding him, his eyes affixed on the form of the happily clapping Qi Qingluo as she tried to stand up and walk.

She stumbled every few steps, but her cute giggles never stopped, sharing the joy of those around her.

"Hehe~"

"Baba~"

"Haha~"

"Wah~"

Everyone's focus was on her, so Qi Shou's words weren't out of place as his dazed state was obvious from his eyes.

Thud

And finally the little girl couldn't hold on anymore and collapsed onto the ground and was swiftly lifted up by the fast Father Qi.

It was as if he wouldn't get another chance to hold her if he was just a second late.

From the corner of his eye, Qi Shou noticed his fathers doting smile and his mother's ready posture.

It seemed both planned the same thing, just that his father got a step ahead.

Qi Shou really felt his lips twitching in exasperation.

'Just what is this old man doing?!'

He even doubted life itself.

Since when did his father become so enthusiastic?!

He even dared to surpass human speed so blatantly!

That was clearly giving himself away as a cultivator!

What if his wife got suspicious?

Who'll he go to cry out his grievances to if she left him out of suspicions?

Feeling the urge to cry, he really wanted to ask his father to behave.

Unfortunately, no matter the previous life's memories, his soul and body had long been conditioned to trust, respect, love, and follow his father.

So, he couldn't really chide him, irrespective of anything.

It just... wasn't possible.

At this point, Qi Shou didn't think further, if he did, be would've realized his father was observing him all the time.

Father Qi was Qi Shou's father, after all.

What would he not know about the child he'd seen grown up in front of his eyes?

No wonder he'd long discovered his son's suspicions, traps, and everything.

Even Mother Qi had noticed, despite not really putting in the mind to it.

The two had discussed and fallen for it yet their son didn't do anything strange.

Life kept going on with nothing unexpected happening except for the strange things Qi Shou sometimes got.

The trade was restricted for a far longer time than what Qi Shou knew, and his parents were keenly aware of that.

Yet they didn't oppose him or bring it up for discussion.

This was the trust they had in their son.

However, a seed of doubt had long since crept into their hearts secretly.

During their reign as cultivators, they often heard of things like demonic possession, or soul possession, or manipulations and whatnot.

So they couldn't help but worry over their son.

However, the only abnormality were those strange food, daily products, some books and that massage technique.

It seemed that Qi Shou only had eyes for his daughter as every good thing was for her.

The two finally let down their doubts after seeing the scene of today.

As a wise man once said: the older the ginger, the spicier it is.

...

Qi Shou, of course, remained oblivious to it all, dreaming of the say he would soar in the skies, cultivating himself.

If his system could give such good stuff for his daughter, surely he would also get something to be able to have protection abilities, right?

It indeed made sense but he himself didn't know about his sealed cultivation and memories, so how could he know what was right and wrong?

He couldn't just start recultivating when there was already lots of energy and pathways within him.

Unlike him, the advanced System could keey detect the abnormalities and could only wait for the host's mysterious past to unravel.

Even the System wasn't completely sure of everything, so it could only give rewards for helping Qi Qingluo and ignored its actually host.

A part of the merit was definitely sidelined to give the host a big surprise in the future.

If Qi Shou lived until that time, however, was uncertain.

He wasn't the only anomaly in this perfect world for Shu Yuxian.

And nor would it be that easy to change one's fate when the Heavens themselves got involved.

All in all, Qi Shou was blissfully unaware of the plots, intriques, and schemes that he would be thrown into in the future.

It's all for the future though.

Currently, Qi Shou was planning a teaching schedule for Qingluo for her to learn the plethora of languages, so she could begin reading earlier.

'Is this the same as that Artificial Genius plan? Wait, she's a genius to start with, so it's fine.'

With that, he got busy humming to himself.
