Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Against the Veraty Family (Prologue)

Arthur's POV

I'm sleepy. I haven't stopped for days. I have to keep training, keep reading books on how to create objects, and keep an eye on others when they're resting. I've slept very little.

I've also been practicing my Devil Fruit. I haven't been able to do incredible things. After all, I can only transform small or medium-sized objects. Things as big as a person are already complicated. I can do something, but it's almost nothing.

In addition to the bullets Trinity uses, I've made different objects, from a cup to a shield, all with different materials. The denser the material, the more complicated it is. Dante wants me to study chemistry, since it will help with my fruit. Besides the excuse that when I'm done being a hero and all that, I can create potions and pills to sell. A real pharmacist, honestly, sounds like a scam.

While I was wandering in my thoughts, Hunter arrived. This wasn't good news. As expected, he stood next to me and started making noises and moving around. I know he wants to explain to me what happened when he was with Trini, but I don't understand. I can only understand that she was caught because she came alone, nothing more.

After watching Hun dance or something like that, I decided to talk to Asclepio. He was waiting in the clinic's common room. Now, because of the whole situation, he's decided not to see any more clients until everything calms down. Unless it's an emergency, and the number of sick patients inside isn't many, so his employees/family can take care of that.

Arthur: "We have some bad news. Hun is coming to the clinic alone, which means both Trini and your son had to be captured." He stared at me and took a cigarette out of his pocket to start smoking.

Asclepio: "For the nerves," he said, showing it to me, "there's not much we can do. They'll most likely come here, so we should prepare and wait." It made sense. Playing at home was better than playing in a place you don't know.

I'd like to go rescue Trini, but I need to protect this place. Besides, I trust her, and I know nothing will happen to her.

Arthur: "Do you have a lot of iron or steel?" I asked.

Asclepio: "I can get some. What do you have in mind?"

Arthur: "Plan A and B," I said, standing up to look out the window to see if there was anyone suspicious around. "Plan A is to fight and defeat everyone who comes and then go rescue Trini."

Asclepio: "And what about Plan B?"

Arthur: "You take care of Plan B. If you see that I'm losing or I've been defeated, you need to do the following," I told him as I turned around to face him.

Trini's POV

Once he opened his eyes, I realized I was in a cell, my arms tied with a chain without my weapons. Next to me was the doctor's son, not tied up.

Trini: "Why the hell didn't they tie your hands and take your clothes off like they did me?" It's worth mentioning that besides my weapons, they left me with only a shirt, pants, and shoes.

Sullivan: "Maybe they didn't see me as a threat, and in a way, they're right," he said as he looked at me out of the corner of his eye and sat on the floor. "I couldn't have done anything there, and I can't do it now either. I don't have the ability to break the chains that bind you or open the cell."

Trini: "What a useless doctor," I said, just to take out some of my frustration on someone or something.

Sullivan: "Not even that, since I'm not even a doctor," I thought about what he said for a bit, but not much since he spoke again, "I'm just someone who helps out at the clinic, my dream was never to be a doctor or anything like that. What I really wanted was to travel the world, my way and with my own eyes, but that dream was destroyed with the arrival of those mobsters."

???: "Hey, don't blame us for being completely useless," a voice came from the cell passage. From there, a man in a black suit appeared, the most noticeable thing being a bandage on his hand.

???: "How satisfying it is to see the bitch who pierced my hand chained and unable to do anything," it was the guy I shot.

I see he's completely ignoring Sullivan as if he didn't exist. In his good hand, he held a bunch of keys. He stood in front of our cell door and opened it.

???: "I'm going to get revenge on you like you can't imagine," he said, tasting his lips. At that moment, I felt a chill along with immeasurable disgust.

At that moment, Sullivan stood in front of the guy, stopping him in his tracks, standing between the mobster and me. The mobster looked at him with disgust.

Sullivan: "I'm not going to let you do that. I couldn't live with myself if I left you and did nothing to stop it." I see that even though he's useless, he has balls, even if those balls are weak.

???: "Move out of the way, you piece of shit." At that moment, I punched him in the face, causing him to crash into the wall, knocking him to the ground. Well, that's my salvation.

???: "Now that the trash isn't bothering you anymore, I'll have fun with you."

Trini: "Sorry, but I'm not available for guys who must be sick and are also ugly, both inside and out." I think she didn't like my comment, as she kicked me in the stomach and then grabbed me by the hair.

???: "Shut up, bitch. Later, you'll be enjoying yourself and asking for more. You won't be a walking piece of junk anymore."

At that moment, I realized something and smiled.

Trini: "I don't think that's possible."

???: "Why do you think that?" she said with a smile.

Trini: "Because you forgot to take out the trash."

At that moment, his neck was pierced by surgical scissors, from left to right, and with a swift movement, he pulled the scissors out of his neck. Blood quickly flowed from the wound, spurts of blood spilling onto the floor. The mobster looked back to see Sullivan standing with the scissors in her hand and a little blood in her mouth.

Sullivan: "They had to check me too for any concealed weapons, asshole." With a swift movement, I kicked the guy's legs, knocking him to the ground. Before he could do anything, I kicked him in the face with all the strength I had, knocking him out. He'd most likely die from blood loss, but neither of us cared.

The bravado ended quickly when Sullivan started vomiting on the floor. I have no idea if it was from killing someone or from the blood, but he finished vomiting quickly.

Trini: "Hey, are you going to finish vomiting so you can help me with these chains?" She barely stopped vomiting when she stood up and wiped her mouth.

Sullivan: "Yeah, I'm coming," he said as he walked with the bunch of keys. "We're going to be here for a while, figuring out if even some of those keys are for my restraints."

Arthur's POV

Arthur: "5, 6, 7, yep, that's more than one," I said to Asclepio, who wasn't that far from me while I looked out the window. A moment ago, guys in suits started to appear, little by little.

Asclepio: "Are they all that ironic and sarcastic?" I asked, a little irritated.

Arthur: "Usually it was Dante who did that, and without him, it feels a little empty, plus his comments made us relax."

Dante, although unpleasant, his way of acting and doing things wasn't soothing in these situations. He made us feel like whatever happened wouldn't be a problem and the responsibility would fall entirely on him, making us trust 100% in what he always did.

Suddenly, when there were several people surrounding the clinic, a specific one approached.

???: "You'd better open up and let us in. We're looking for some specific people." He was a guy just like the others, except he had black hair with a white streak, a silver watch, and dark glasses. I almost forgot he had two ninjatos on his back.

Asclepius: "That's Chris, the second-in-command of the Veraty family." I stopped being tough. I wondered who was more powerful, him with his swords or me with my spear.

Arthur: "Okay, I'm going out."

Asclepius: "Are you sure?"

Arthur: "I'm more than prepared. You know what to do in any situation," he just nodded.

Right now, in addition to Durindana, I had Nemesis at my side and a good few pounds of steel, in case there was someone with a complicated Devil Fruit.

Looking outside, there were about 20 guys, including the guy named Chris. This wasn't unusual. It reminded me of when I met Dante and Trinty, only now I was alone.

Arthur: "Well, there's no other choice," I said as I opened the door, ready to leave like a regular warrior or die trying. Although I had a backup plan, it might not work in time to save me from death. With Durindana in hand and Nemesis I stood face to face with my enemy where only one was going to end up victorious from here.
