Chapter 277 - Chapter 277: Invitation

"Of course, no problem."

Roy followed Charles Weyland to a quieter corner to talk business, leaving Jennifer and Serena staring at each other.

There wasn't really anything major; Charles's cruise line just wanted to ride the wave of the Olympics and do a round-the-world trip starting from Australia.

This plan was originally great, but who would have thought that Sydney had a major bloody incident a few days ago, scaring away a lot of wealthy tourists.

So, Charles wanted to invite some sports superstars to add some flair.

Honestly, Roy was quite tempted by this offer. Not only could he enjoy a luxurious cruise for free, but he could also make some money.

Roy didn't have any plans after the Olympics ended, so he could definitely consider it.

"Weyland, I need to discuss it with my family first."

"Of course, you should discuss this kind of thing carefully with your family, Mr. Blake. I look forward to hearing good news from you."

Charles clinked glasses with Roy, then got ready to leave.

"Oh, Mr. Weyland!"

Roy suddenly called out to Charles, who turned back with a spring in his step, looking at him.

"Is there anything else, Mr. Blake?"

"Mr. Weyland, I wonder if the rooms on your cruise ship are big enough?"

Roy winked.

Charles gave him a "you know what I mean" smile.

"Excellent! As expected of our Texas pride, I'm sure you'll be satisfied, Mr. Blake!"

This basically meant they had reached an agreement in principle.

However, Roy really hadn't expected this Charles Weyland to be from Texas as well. It seemed that his approach to Roy wasn't just a spur-of-the-moment decision.

Texas is considered one of the most exclusive states in America and is also often ostracized by other parts of the country.

California is the most typical example; in many movies made in Hollywood, Texans are often portrayed as rude and foolish country bumpkins.

While it's true that many Texas "rednecks" fit this image, not everyone is like that. At least Roy and Jennifer definitely aren't.

So, Texans abroad tend to stick together.

Perhaps this Charles just wanted to sponsor Roy, this rising boxing star from Texas.

Roy wasn't particularly concerned about the sponsorship, but getting free money didn't seem so bad either.

Charles returned to his daughter Serena's side, originally intending to take her with him, but Serena didn't want to leave. She clearly wanted to chat with Roy some more.

Charles didn't say much about this; he had always doted on his daughter.

So, Serena ignored Jennifer's presence and squeezed next to Roy, asking him all sorts of questions, practically wearing her intentions on her sleeve.

This made Jennifer a bit unhappy, especially when Serena talked about her daily life, which made her feel a little insecure.

Although Charles Weyland was from Texas, his main business was in New York, so Serena usually lived in Manhattan, New York, and went to school there.

Coincidentally, Serena was the same age as Roy and would be entering university in the second half of the year.

"Mr. Blake, will you go directly into professional boxing or go back to university for further study?"

Serena looked at Roy with curiosity.

Roy quietly held Jennifer's hand, giving her a reassuring look.

They had been through so much together, and their relationship was such that it wouldn't be easily replaced.

Feeling the warmth of Roy's hand, Jennifer showed a sweet smile, and her previous unhappiness was thrown to the back of her mind.

"In the second half of the year, I'll be taking my talents to UCLA."

Serena's eyes widened.

"UCLA? Why would you go to the West Coast? Why not come to New York? Columbia University is where someone as excellent as you should be!"

It was clear that Serena was probably planning to go to Columbia University, which was why she said that.

However, Roy had already made so many preparations in Los Angeles, so he naturally wouldn't change his mind just because of something Serena said.

"I prefer the weather in California."

New York's weather really couldn't compare to California's. Even people who loved New York had to admit that.

Serena seemed to want to continue persuading Roy to go to Columbia University, but at that moment, a young, handsome guy about their age walked over.

"Serena, so you're here!"

At first, this guy's eyes were focused on Serena, but when he saw Jennifer's face, he was clearly amazed.

After seeing Roy, that amazed look turned into a faint hostility.

He was probably Serena's admirer. Serena was young, pretty, and from a good family, so it was normal for her to have admirers.

Looking at this young man's attire and demeanor, his family background was probably not simple either.

Unexpectedly, Serena didn't give this admirer a friendly look.

"Nate Archibald, why are you coming to me instead of looking for your Blair?"

From the sound of it, this guy was playing the field?

Someone who couldn't even handle one relationship was trying to pull a stunt like this.

He sized up this young man named Nate. His build was vastly different from Roy's.

Roy was the type who looked lean in clothes, but his broad shoulders were still noticeably bigger than Nate's.

However, Roy wanted to be mindful of Jennifer's feelings and didn't want to get entangled with Serena for now. Since someone had come to find Serena, he decided to excuse himself.

"Ms. Weyland, since someone has come to find you, Jennifer and I will excuse ourselves for now."

Serena held onto Roy, not letting him leave, while looking at Nate with a disdainful gaze.

"Mr. Blake, don't mind this boring guy. Let's keep chatting!"

"Serena, I really have broken up with Blair! Why won't you accept me?"

"That's your business, not mine. Right now, I only want to talk to Mr. Blake!"

Serena stared at Roy without blinking, completely ignoring Nate.

Roy and Jennifer exchanged a look, feeling quite speechless.

What a mess!

But relationships in America these days were just this chaotic, especially among the wealthy. It was like a ball of yarn with no end.

On the other hand, Roy's relationships were surprisingly simple because they were all centered around him in a network.

"Ms. Weyland, I have no intention of getting involved in your conversation. How about you come find me after you've finished talking?"

While Roy enjoyed gossip, it wasn't so pleasant when he became the subject of it.

By now, some guests around them were already watching Roy, seemingly ready for some gossip.

It would be fine if Roy had actually done something, but he hadn't done anything at all. Being watched for free gossip felt like a loss.

Hearing this, Serena glared at Nate.

"It's all your fault! Can't you just stay away from me!"

Nate, being an eighteen or nineteen-year-old young man, couldn't stand such provocation and immediately flared up.

Instead of taking it out on Serena, he turned to Roy.

"Hey kid, what's it to you? Can't you just get lost?"

Roy was amused and pointed at Nate's chest.

"Kid, she doesn't like you, so stop pestering her! Why don't you go back to your Blair? Maybe she'll forgive you and take in a stray dog like you!"

Nate couldn't hold back and tried to grab Roy's collar, but Roy reacted even faster and slapped his hand away.

"You jerk! If you've got guts, let's go outside and fight one-on-one!"

As soon as he said this, Serena and Jennifer burst out laughing, especially Jennifer, who had to lean on Roy's shoulder to stand upright.

"Nate, are you serious? Mr. Blake is the new Olympic heavyweight boxing champion! Are you planning to spend the rest of your life in a wheelchair?"

Nate's face alternated between red and pale. He finally understood why Roy looked so familiar. At first, he had thought Roy was just another wealthy, privileged kid like himself.

For a moment, Nate didn't know what to say.

"I, I..."

Roy waved his hand. He really wasn't interested in beating up a weakling. There was no treasure chest to get, so why waste the effort?

Besides, boxers could be suspended for fighting in public.

"Get lost. Someone like you isn't worth my time."

Roy didn't want to waste any more time with Serena either. He gently broke free from her grip and pulled Jennifer to another part of the party.

For the rest of the time, Roy and Jennifer wandered around the party for a while, then quietly left the venue.

Back in the car, Jennifer leaned on Roy's shoulder, looking a bit tired.

Maintaining an elegant and charming smile at a party was quite draining, especially when they were the center of attention.

"Roy, do you dislike these kinds of events?"

Roy stroked Jennifer's hair and replied.

"I don't really like them. It feels a bit like a waste of time."

With Roy's strength, everyone there combined wouldn't be enough for him to kill alone. He could completely do without this kind of social interaction.

But that's social order; some things you can do, and some things you can't.

"Then let me handle these things in the future, Roy."

Roy looked at Jennifer in surprise. Her eyes were sparkling.

"You want to take over my external work and be my spokesperson in the future?"

Jennifer bit her lip lightly, clearly a little unsure of herself.

"I can learn how to be your spokesperson in university!"

Roy smiled and touched Jennifer's forehead with his.

"Do whatever you want to do. I'll support you."

Jennifer smiled happily.

"Okay, I'll definitely work hard to do a good job!"

The two of them cuddled for a while, and the atmosphere in the car quickly turned pink.

Jennifer's eyes were moist, and her breathing became more rapid.

Roy didn't want to mess around in the hotel parking garage. Who knew if there were paparazzi secretly taking pictures, and security camera footage was also a concern.

Well, as a public figure now, Roy was somewhat concerned about his image.

So, Roy decided to drive back to the hotel to continue the fight.

But at that moment, Jennifer suddenly leaned down and started performing maintenance work on the gear stick.

Roy was caught off guard and slammed on the brakes, which made Jennifer roll her eyes.

"Mm! Roy, what's wrong?"

"Nothing, it was just a bit too sudden!"

Roy looked at Jennifer with a strange expression. Jennifer had never done this for Roy before.

"Where did you learn these moves?"

Jennifer brushed her hair aside, her little face flushed, looking a bit shy.

"Needy downloaded some videos online and insisted on watching them with me, saying we should learn some techniques. I learned from watching the videos. Roy, don't you like it?"

That girl Needy... she's doing a great job!

"I like it, you can continue!"

Roy pressed Jennifer's head back down, allowing her to continue the maintenance work on the gear stick.

Although Jennifer's willingness to learn was commendable, some skills couldn't be learned just by being willing.

Especially since Roy's talent was so impressive, it wasn't something a beginner like Jennifer could handle.

Beginners always experience some discomfort, but luckily, Roy had a thick skin and wasn't afraid of this little bit of pain. He patiently taught Jennifer how to maintain the gear stick.

Jennifer's talent in this area was quite good. Her maintenance actions became more skilled, and Roy felt increasingly comfortable.

This was a considerable test for Roy, who was driving. Fortunately, Roy's willpower attribute was strong enough; 59 points of willpower were enough for Roy to drive back soberly, although much slower.

Finally, through Jennifer's tireless efforts, a large amount of lubricant was successfully squeezed out of the gear stick.

As for why there was lubricant in the gear stick, Roy could only say it was a miracle!

Jennifer suppressed the urge to gag and swallowed the protein-rich lubricant. She almost couldn't take it just now; the amount was simply too much.

After tidying up their clothes, they got out of the car. In front of Roy's parents and Needy's parents, they still had to maintain some image.

"Luxury cruise ship?"

Philip looked at Roy in surprise.

"Yes, it's that luxury cruise ship called the Santiago, said to be the best in the world. The owner invited me to go on board for a trip, which will be a round-the-world journey."

His mother Sarah shook her head helplessly.

"I'm sorry, Roy! Your father and I have already used up our annual leave, so we definitely can't participate in such a long activity."

"Oh, I see."

Philip patted Roy's shoulder.

"Yeah! You go have fun, Roy. You can bring Jennifer and Needy. Try your best to bring me back a grandson after the round-the-world trip ends!"

This outrageous remark made Sarah unable to resist hitting Philip.

"What are you talking about! Roy and they just graduated and are still going to university!"

Philip looked at Sarah strangely.

"Didn't we just after graduating..."

Sarah covered Philip's mouth with a red face. If she didn't cover his mouth, who knew what this guy would say.

"Roy, go and have fun! Don't worry about us. Remember to have a good time and also practice safe protection, okay?"

Roy nodded.

In reality, Roy hadn't worn protective sports gear for a long time. As his life form continued to upgrade, his fertility was actually decreasing.

So whether he protected himself or not didn't really matter. If she did get pregnant, he'd just have the baby.

Afterward, Roy called Needy and received another piece of bad news from her.

"Roy, Jennifer and I probably can't accompany you on the cruise ship."
