Chapter 199 - A Dragon With “Fusion” in Its Name

Ice Prison Dragon Trishula.

A variant of Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier — Level 9, ATK 2700. Just like Tierra, Trishula is part of the "DT Planet" lore, a legendary card once banned for its ability in the "Infernity Trishula" combo to banish an opponent's entire hand on the first turn. So iconic, it even got special summon voice lines from Kyosuke Kiryu's voice actor, Onoyuu. A true legend among cards.

In the DT storyline, Trishula was feared for a reason. When the Duel Terminal world was invaded by alien worms, the guardians of the Ice Barrier debated unleashing their final dragon—this most powerful "Trishula". They had already awakened Brionac and Gungnir, and whether out of desperation or arrogance, they considered summoning Trishula.

Some argued it was better to summon a demon than unleash Trishula. In hindsight, they were right.

Once released, Trishula rampaged, freezing the planet, obliterating the entire Fabled race, and eventually taking the Dragunity Legion down with it in mutual destruction.

No one knows why this native dragon of the planet was so powerful. It wasn't a creator god like Sophia or Tierra, nor a hero like Captain White Crystal. It was just... a dragon born of the land. And yet its power was absurdly godlike.

As a famous native dragon, Trishula has many alternate versions in the DT series—Evigishki, Nekroz, Even-ZERO… Ice Prison Dragon Trishula is its fusion variant.

But...

Compared to its other forms, this one's kind of underwhelming.

However—there's a catch.

Its effect might be weak, but its fusion requirement makes up for it: any 3 monsters with different names.

Just 3 differently named monsters and you can Fusion Summon it!

You can even use your own monsters on the field without needing Polymerization!

Hikaru Amagi wondered if, by casually loading his deck with various monsters, he could protect them under Super Polymerization by fusing into this.

It also had its uses in Duel Links: dumping high-level monsters, making a quick push, and OTK'ing after unfusing it. A strategy not unlike Seto Kaiba's "Burst Stream of Destruction" all-in.

Unfortunately, this card requires using your own hand and field, so Hikaru couldn't cheese it by stealing from the opponent's graveyard with Junk Fusion. Pity.

After that, Hikaru didn't pull many more new cards. He got a Mask Change, but Spell Cards alone weren't a big deal for him.

Still, no problem—since relations with S-Dimension had opened, there'd be more chances to grab those cards. Sooner or later, he'd get his hands on Masked HEROes.

Anything's better than before, when he scoured every dimension and still thought they didn't exist.

Back in the KaibaCorp-Security Force exchange, students were gradually returning to their home dimension. Hikaru Amagi, too, took this time to inventory everything he'd gained from this long interdimensional journey.

First and foremost: Undead Dragon – Dragonecro Nethersoul Dragon.

A Duel Dragon, it would now share the burden of Hikaru's spirit with White Crystal. A crucial asset.

Next: something Hikaru had longed for—

[Fusion]!

A dragon with "Fusion" in its name.

Greedy Venom Fusion Dragon.

The Fusion Summon Dragon!

In the original series, it was Yuri's ace in the Fusion Dimension. From the moment he'd dueled Yugo in this world, Hikaru searched his deck for a trace of Fusion Dragons—nothing.

But he wasn't a native of this world. He knew how special the Four Yus were.

To duel one of them and not draw a Fusion Dragon? Impossible.

Super Polymerization would eventually deliver it to him.

Over the fifteen days—when not helping Yusei—he'd often dueled Yuugo, who admired Hikaru and always agreed. In time, Hikaru finally pulled one, faint though it was.

The rest could be left to the Philosopher's Stone and Super Polymerization. He just needed faith.

Other big pulls—Ice Prison Dragon, Next-Gen Support Units—were useful, but more symbolic than tactical.

Ironically, what helped him more were the days spent working with Yusei on tuning D-Wheels. That hands-on practice helped Hikaru overcome many alchemy problems and optimize the dimensional gate's energy usage.

A major power-up.

As his alchemy improved, so too did his control over Super Polymerization. One day, it would be fully his.

Back in their world, Hikaru enjoyed a few brief, peaceful days.

Why brief?

Because Hikaru—was now famous.

As the wielder of Dark Magician.

The first duelist to face S-Dimension.

Recognized by both worlds as the "Absolute Fusionist."

And a voice against injustice in his duel—he exploded across global media.

He wasn't alone in this fame, but it didn't matter. The companies wouldn't let it go.

So during break, Hikaru had to rush to Windlight Corp, where Dr. Crowler helped him sign a better contract than before, and shoot a series of quick commercials for Instant Fusion.

No time to rest. He hadn't even started building Tierra's new gear.

Tierra didn't mind. It was only a few weeks, and she enjoyed the ad shoots. She even liked pushing Instant Fusion.

After the chaos, Hikaru returned to Duel Academy and finally completed Tierra's new component: Hellfire Engine – Beelzebub.

This time, without any kind donations from the Fusion Army. He built it with prize money from KaibaCorp and endorsement deals from Windlight.

After all that—

Hikaru realized...

School was starting again!

A new year. A new grade. New studies. But one thing now demanded more attention than ever:

The Taylor Sisters' arrival.

New freshmen already showing up.

And—

The "Interlink Division" recruiting for the new term!
