Lewie pushed through the door; he had received a call earlier telling him that Selene was hospitalized.
Without exchanging pleasantries with the nurses.
"Selene Silver?" He asked in between breaths.
The nurse was still trying to register what he said when he spoke again.
"Where is Selene Silver?" This time, his voice was loud and sharp.
The nurse, startled by his voice's sharpness and urgency, pointed toward Selene's direction while talking to him.
"Room 203, go down the hallway to your....." The remaining words died off slowly.
Before she could complete the statements, Lewie was halfway down the hallway.
In his eyes, the hallway looks unending, but he finally reaches room 203 with a long big stride.
He gently pushed the half-opened door open and froze.
Leon was seated beside Selene on her bed, his eyes downcast, and his hands held Selene's pale, fragile fingers.
She lay still and pale against the hospital bed.
Lewie's stomach dropped, and his breath hitched when he saw Selene in a motionless state, but his anger rose again when he looked at Leon again.
"You fucking bastard!!!!!" He roared. " What the heck did you do to her??" His eyes burned red from anger.
Leon lifts his head, trying to explain what happened to Lewie. "Lewie! Wait!, I did nothing to her"
"Don't fucking call my name again" Before he finished his statement, he crossed over to Leon's side with two strides. Grabbed Leon by his collar
He slammed his back against the hospital's wall, "She was fine before I left in the morning; you orchestrated this, Leon Guilford!!" He clenched his hand fist ready to strike.
"I didn't hurt her," he said with a low voice. "She was already lying pale when I saw her"
He was trying to explain in haste, and so was Lewie's fist halfway to his face.
Their mini fistfight was interrupted by the sound of the door opening.
"That's enough." A middle-aged doctor stood at the door of Selene's hospital room, one hand carrying his patient report while the other adjusted his glasses.
"You can exercise your fist strength somewhere else apart from here; this is a hospital; we have patients whose recovery depends on tranquility, don't make a fuse here."
With this being said, he walked toward his patient and examined her once again.
"Would you want me to talk about my patient's condition, or should I book you both up for a boxing match? I don't mind discussing her condition after the match?" He asked nonchalantly while pointing at Selene.
Lewie slowly let go of Leon's collar; he slid his hands into his pocket, his fit still clinched.
"Well," he spoke again when he noticed both gentlemen weren't hostages to each other again.
"Miss Selene has some abdominal pain due to stress and menstrual cramps, she fainted as a result of the pain" This time he had his eyes on Lewie "There is no trace of poisoning or foul play in her life"
Lewie's anger drained immediately he heard the doctor's report "Would she be okay?" he asked quietly.
"Of course, yes!!, she just needs rest; she will be fine." he closed his patient report card and walked away.
Lewie looked at Selene, her breath slow and steady.
He sat beside her on the bed and brushed some hair back to her ear while he apologized.
"I'm sorry, I didn't check up on you before leaving in the morning"
Leon, on the other hand, didn't utter a word. He just left silently.
A few days later, Selene has been discharged, and her bond with Lewie has grown stronger than before.
"Are you pretending to study again? While waiting for little miss?" Selene asked; on her hands was a tray filled with snacks, and her face filled with a smile.
The library has become a place for midnight dates for them.
They spent hours talking about life, their dreams, everything they could even think of, and creating moments that could last for a lifetime.
" Seems like little miss finally remembered she kept me waiting," Lewie answered; he collected the tray from her hands and placed it on the table.
"Here I am; I was almost caught by my uncle, so I had to waste some time." Her mouth was already crushing the cookies.
"I understand; I want to make it official. I want to tell everyone we belong to each other, but then I know your uncle would object to it," his hands massaging her legs; Selene fed him cookies.
"Then!!!!!" She withdraws her hands and asks.
"I would wait till the perfect time"
"When do you think is the perfect time? Do you think I could change my mind one day?".
"Not that," Lewie tried to explain to Selene, whose face was like that of a child whose candy was ceased.
"I am waiting for the right time; I want you to further your education. This has been your uncle's dream for you, and I will patiently wait for you to get admitted before making it official." Lewie was holding Selene in the face, making her look into his eyes.
"You promise?" Selene asked, her pinky finger stuck out for a promise pledge.
" I promise"
Lewie slowly went for Selene lips, slowly their lips entwined, a slow but passionate lip was used to seal the promise.
Feeling pressed, Lewie excused himself to make use of the restroom.
While Lewie was away, this was the first time he had left Selene alone in his study room.
She decided to look around, go through stuff, and arrange them in an orderly manner.
A picture that was almost hidden caught her attention.
Lewie was in an intimate position with a lady.
The photo almost slipped out of her hands.
"Who is this lady? Why was Lewie looking at this lady the same way his eyes stared at her?"
Suddenly the door of the restroom opened, and Lewie came out.
Lewie noticed the new look of his library; he was almost about to drop a compliment when he noticed the picture she was holding.
"What are you doing!!!!" He yells at her.
