Fortunately, Robert was on their side.
Robert's combat prowess was nothing short of astonishing. As his gaze swept across the battlefield, the red light from his eyes had already obliterated all the Sentinel robots in the vicinity, leaving behind only heaps of smoldering wreckage.
"You! You!" Stryker could only point at Robert with his remaining hand, rendered nearly speechless. Holy sh*t! So many Sentinel robots destroyed just like that? That was tens of billions worth of advanced combat equipment! A single unit could decimate an entire division of armed forces, and now they're all gone?
The adaptive temperature-resistant coating, designed to withstand thousands of degrees of heat, had been effortlessly melted. Just how powerful was this rising star of the Mutant Academy?
Stryker was utterly shocked. He was merely a minor figure and had no knowledge of the Battle of New York. Had he been aware, he would never have dared to confront Robert so brazenly. Robert had even destroyed the Chitauri mothership. A mere handful of early-model Sentinels? Who was he underestimating?
To Robert, this was a trivial matter, easily handled.
"Alright, now that your trump card is gone," Robert said calmly, "tell me, who sent you here?"
Stryker was just a pawn; there had to be someone orchestrating things from behind the scenes. As he questioned Stryker, Robert simultaneously employed Joker Thinking. In such circumstances, Stryker's every move and inner thought were laid bare; this was the terrifying ability of the Joker—to see through people's hearts. While Professor X relied on mutant abilities, the Joker depended on unparalleled intelligence and experience.
"Instruct me? No one can instruct me!" Stryker spat defiantly. "I just want to destroy you damned mutant monsters! You're all abominations that should be eradicated!"
His eyes burned with a hatred ingrained deep within his bones. Facing someone as ruthless as Robert, he showed no fear, only fierce determination. Even the most skilled interrogators might have been deceived by him. Unfortunately for Stryker, he was up against Robert, who possessed the Joker's abilities and intellect. No micro-expression or subtle movement could escape Robert's scrutiny.
"No need to quibble; there must be someone behind you," Robert stated indifferently. "Which major corporation? A councilor? A general?"
"Nonsense," Stryker retorted. "You don't even know my position in the military! We won't let you go."
As he spoke, a trace of unease flickered in his heart. This minute detail might have fooled others, but it couldn't deceive Robert.
"Hmm, it seems to be a certain major corporation," Robert mused. "There aren't many companies capable of manufacturing such robots; it appears they also collaborate with the government. Stryker, you truly are a talent, playing multiple sides and being so fickle."
Robert regarded Stryker with a hint of admiration. By ordinary standards of success, this man was indeed accomplished. Human civilization often uses the veneer of civility to mask barbarism. Morality, in reality, holds little weight. Among those in high positions, how many are truly moral? In this context, Stryker was quite outstanding. Precisely because of this, individuals like him couldn't be allowed to live.
In the Marvel Universe, anything absurd could happen. With this thought, a red light flashed in Robert's eyes, and Stryker was instantly vaporized from existence. Even in death, his eyes held a profound sense of unwillingness.
"No need to be resentful; I'll send your accomplices to join you," Robert said coldly.
Wolverine couldn't help but swallow hard upon witnessing Robert's merciless execution. As Robert turned his gaze toward him, Wolverine quickly spoke with righteous indignation, "That guy got off easy by dying like that."
"It's okay; you'll have your chance," Robert replied with a bright smile.
Chapter 46: The Brotherhood is Annihilated? The Crisis of the Mutants!
Robert and Wolverine had successfully thwarted Stryker's assault at Alkali Lake, with Robert even eliminating Stryker himself. To Robert, this was a minor incident. However, he was unaware that those behind Stryker hadn't targeted him alone. Anyone capable of creating a Sentinel army wouldn't rely solely on Stryker.
Their forces had split into two groups, deploying Sentinel robots not only to attack Wolverine but also to strike the Brotherhood of Mutants. This was a formidable force, and through various intelligence channels, they had pinpointed the Brotherhood's gathering location, launching a massive assault.
If the Sentinels attacking Robert numbered just over a hundred, then those assaulting the Brotherhood exceeded five hundred. This was nearly equivalent to half a regiment. Considering these were powerful Sentinel robots, even five hundred fully armed regular soldiers would pose a significant threat.
Magneto, ever the astute leader, recognized that his powers hadn't fully recovered. He had regrouped a considerable number of mutants, including the formidable Red Tank, Avalanche, and several others, bringing the Brotherhood's numbers to over a dozen mutants.
However, before they could execute their plan to destroy the Worthington Industries laboratory, they were ambushed by a vast number of Sentinel robots. The Brotherhood of Mutants, once the most formidable mutant fighting force, lost half of its combat strength almost immediately.
Under the relentless assault of the Sentinels, the Brotherhood found themselves overwhelmed. In an instant, a barrage of diverse attacks obliterated more than a dozen mutants. After all, not every mutant possessed Magneto's terrifying abilities; the weaker ones were instantly annihilat
