The Chapter get Retranslated
The war lasted a full five to six hours before the curtain finally fell (not counting the night march)!
The rebel leader and most of the generals were killed. A few could not be confirmed whether they escaped or were blown to smithereens by cannon fire.
"Tap, tap, tap..."
Teams of pale-faced Royal Army soldiers, wearing masks, continuously entered the battlefield, carrying away bloody rebel corpses to be incinerated.
Because if these tens of thousands of bodies were left unattended, in the scorching summer, it would be troublesome if an epidemic broke out.
"Some of them deserted before the battle, but I don't think that will be a problem for you, will it?"
It was already nearing dusk when Ichiji and Niji arrived at the battlefield.
"Of course, those deserters are no longer a threat."
The minister's face was pale, but he still tried to maintain a smile, flattering them, "Thanks to Germa, our country was able to quell this conflict!"
"No need to thank us. Just settle the remuneration..." Ichiji glanced at him, noncommittal, and said indifferently.
"The remuneration has been prepared. Please rest assured, the Firland Kingdom would not dare to defraud the renowned Germa 66..."
The corner of his mouth twitched slightly, and the minister quickly nodded, then invited again, "It's getting late, His Majesty has prepared a grand celebratory banquet at the palace to show his gratitude. We earnestly request both His Highnesses to attend!"
...
Although Germa 66 fought this war for money to help the Firland Kingdom win, they were still the "heroes" who "saved" this country.
By the time the Germa army arrived in the capital, it was already evening. The King had personally led the kingdom's nobles and ministers, waiting there for a long time.
Even though it was night, the entire capital was brightly lit. The streets on both sides of the city were even crowded with joyful and excited citizens who lived in the capital and had learned that the war was over.
"Thank you, Germa, for saving this country!!!"
King Angus IX's face was flushed, no longer showing his previous nervousness and doubt, but brimming with joyful and relaxed smiles: "The remuneration has been settled. Please come in for a discussion!"
He never expected that this war, which almost overthrew the Firland Kingdom's regime, would be quelled in just a few short hours.
"You're welcome!"
Ichiji nodded indifferently, a hint of sarcasm in his tone: "But you should consider yourselves lucky that these rebels, due to various reasons, had no choice but to gather their forces and directly attack the capital. Otherwise, this war wouldn't have ended so easily..."
If that were the case, the time it would take this time would probably be more than just a day or two.
The Firland Kingdom was not huge, but its territory was not small either, comparable to the Alabasta Kingdom in the Grand Line.
However, it was precisely because the rebel army had grown too rapidly and its scale was too large that they basically relied on looting for food and ammunition. Over a long period, they couldn't sustain themselves and also worried about other unforeseen circumstances, which is why they were so eager to directly attack the capital.
Unfortunately, they never expected that Angus IX would be so decisive in hiring the infamous evil war organization of the underworldāthe "Demon Legion" Germa 66!
"Germa! Germa!..."
"Thank you, for eliminating the rebels..."
"This way, our country will be stable!"
"As expected of Germa! They are simply the 'Hand of God'!!!"
"To have won this war in less than six hours is truly amazing!!"
...
Innumerable citizens, their faces flushed, were all exuberant and incredibly excited, shouting to the triumphant Germa army, filled with joy and fervor.
Undoubtedly, the legendary "Evil Army" had become the heroes who saved the kingdomāthough this was from the perspective of their own class interests!
Most of the Germa army had returned to the "war-houses" docked at the port to rest. Only about three to four hundred Germa warriors, accompanying Ichiji and Niji, remained to "protect" their Highnesses.
"Heh, well arranged!"
Niji, walking in front, undoubtedly enjoyed such courtesy.
"That old man, full of ambition but narrow-minded, probably doesn't know that his transformation experiments on his unborn sons, which seemed to produce 'successful products,' were actually all failures. At best, they only possessed relatively outstanding power!" Ichiji couldn't help but sneer inwardly at Niji's behavior.
Leaving aside himself, the "variable," and Sanji, who was a complete ordinary person and arguably overly kind, even Niji and Yonji, though cold-blooded and cruel with little humanity, and perhaps even fearless in the face of death, clearly weren't entirely devoid of human emotions.
"Nonsense, gentlemen, you are the heroes who saved this country, so receiving the highest level of courtesy is only right." Angus IX said with a beaming smile.
These 50,000 troops represented the vast majority of the rebel forces. Although some remnants still occupied two cities, the garrisons in each city were only about two to three thousand strong, and most of them were old, weak, and disabled, so they were not a concern; the overall situation was already settled.
With the previously formidable rebel army crushed, the heavy stone on his heart had naturally disappeared, and he felt immensely relieved.
Initially, when he heard about the rebellion of those commoners, he didn't take it seriously. But then these damned peasants gained momentum and even defeated the well-equipped Royal Army, almost reaching the capital, which shocked him so much that he nearly fell from the throne.
"Fortunately, I was wise and decisive, and didn't hesitate to spend a huge sum to hire the infamous underworld war organization, Germa."
He glanced, intentionally or unintentionally, at the building tens of meters away, almost invisible under the dark night sky.
"Cipher-Pol?"
His gaze flickered slightly, then moved away, as if no longer paying attention. Ichiji casually asked Angus IX, "According to the agreement, we still need to help you reclaim the two lost cities to truly complete this war employment, but I suppose that won't be necessary, will it..."
Germa's combat style was to end wars as quickly as possible.
Losses were simply not a consideration.
If Germa's army were truly sent to besiege the cities, those two cities would undoubtedly be reduced to scorched earth.
Unless absolutely necessary, Angus IX wouldn't be foolish enough to let Germa's army "reclaim lost territory."
