Sadness, shock, confusion, all of it, and more flashed through Sophia's eyes. A chaos growing within her heart, unable to process what was happening. The mocking tone of the Prime Nexus was only adding fuel to the flame. Unable to form any words, her eyes only remained transfixed on the back of Axel.
After what felt like an almost eternity of silence, she finally spoke, vulnerability etched on every word, "Axel, what's the meaning of this?"
She saw as Axel finally moved, standing up slowly, with measured difficulty, almost as if an insurmountable mountain was pressing down on his shoulders. A weight no one else in the world could carry, the responsibility that only he could shoulder. A mission no one would ever come to know.
He turned around, looking at her in the eye, barely able to hide the erupting pain deep in his eyes. He smiled at her wistfully, "So, you killed the death knight. I knew you could."
