Chapter 21 - I Was Nerfed!

"Wind Magic: Whirlwind."

From the shoulder that Luciana used to cast his spell, Wind tunnels started spinning around him in a coil pattern. It went from his shoulder, to his hand, all the way to the arsonic hellscape just right behind him.

"If you survive this, I might acknowledge you as a fighter." Luciana smiled.

"Survive? You're going to kill me?!"

Ashrosaliera exclaimed. She tried everything she could to break free from his grasp, from kicking, deactivating, then reactivating [Fire Flight] for boost, and stabbing him in the face.

He answered her question with a little shrug.

The whirlwind spun into the fire, consuming and twisting it up. Ashrosaliera witnessed the whirlwind tunnel begin to turn from a dark grayish color, to brown, to yellow, then to pure red.

Luciana spun hundreds of degrees Celsius on his arm, and his sleeves started to burn off. Yet he didn't even so much as blink while the flaming tunnel was tearing through his flesh.

"I do not intend to, but there is nothing I can do if you're weaker than the average human, fire girl," Luciana said.

Ashrosaliera started screaming in utter horror at the top of her lungs. Less because of the whirlwind about to come her way, and more from the primal fear of helplessness against impending doom.

She clenched her teeth and struggled, kicking and pulling away from Luciana mid-air. She tried playing dirty, from headbutting, biting his arm, kicking him in the nuts, to biting his throat as if the race roles were reversed, but nothing worked.

"I DON'T WANT TO DIE!" She screamed.

The vampire seemed somewhat annoyed, as if he felt some stinging pain from Ash's attempts to hurt him, but he still didn't let go of her wrist.

Luciana gestured with his hand, moving the other end of the whirlwind away from the fire, and changing its course towards Ashrosaliera.

"Goodbye, little one." He said.

The fiery whirlwind consumed her, Ash was sucked into the spinning nightmare as it burned her.

"Time!" Luciana exclaimed.

His voice echoed through the forest, and loud rumbling could be heard. The dirt started to be buried under sandstone, the trees began collapsing, and the stream of water nearby dried up. And all that was left was a colossium-like stadium with waters on the outside ring, the out-of-bound area for the fighter, and thousands of seats looking down at the giant fighting area.

Ashrosaliera lay on the ground, her eyes widened, fixed upon the brightening sky as the sun started to rise. She was still breathing, though through her mouth and with sweat running down her entire body, she felt as if she had gone through hell and back.

"Why… Why- I should be immune to my own flames, this is ridiculous." Ash muttered, hearing her heartbeat echoing through her ears.

Blood was still pumping, her heart was still working, and her nostrils were still trying to keep up with inhaling and exhaling. She couldn't move her arms; they lay dormant on the hard stone spread apart like a snow angel.

"It is not yours, honey."

Luciana casually squatted beside Ash with both knees together in a girly way, causing her to turn her head away to avoid seeing any unholy sights. He noticed this, but gave no mind and continued,

"When I controlled it with [Whirlwind], its user property switched to [Neutral], and it will hurt us both. You'll learn the basics if you pay attention in class… And you don't know how to properly utilize all your skills."

"School hasn't even started yet…" Ash muttered annoyingly, still trying to catch her breath. She then turned towards Luciana, trying not to gaze under his skirt, she asked, "Your blazer… Is intact? I swear I saw like 2 cuts."

"Stadium's effect, reverting to when you first joined, though there is no healing." Luciana explained, "That's why I like having my first dates here."

Luciana didn't wait for Ash to give him any more questions, he raised his hand up and cupped her cheek, rubbing a bit of blood coming from her lips, he would put that blood into his mouth and give it a good tasting.

"Awful, just a bit better than my friend."

Ashrosaliera got goosebumps, she immediately stood up and kept a distance from him.

"You have friends?" She instinctively mocked.

Luciana paused, and he glanced up to the audience's seats, where a silhouette was sitting among the top row, observing them in utter silence.

"If life continues on this course, you'll meet them soon enough."

Ashrosaliera didn't notice anyone being there because she was busy dusting herself off. And when she got to scan around the perimeters for potential spectators, she saw no one. Still, Ash was indifferent to Luciana's strange behaviour.

So, they left the stadium, Ashrosaliera headed to the infirmary for a quick check-up, and they promised a second date this noon to run errands. Though unfortunately, they weren't holding hands this time.

As she made her way to the infirmary, she walked past her dorm room and poked her head inside… Everyone was still sound asleep, except for Cinderella Twilight, who was half-woken, sitting on her top bunk bed with feet dangling. As if she sensed Ashrosaliera, the half-elf turned over, but didn't see anyone, because Ash had already left, not trying to scare the girl.

It was barely 15 minutes from when she woke up, squished everyone's face, got absolutely humiliated, and had her blood drunk by a vampire, time really seems to slow down when you're not having fun.

"He didn't even need to use [Water]... And he was Roshia's mentor from years ago? Geez, I guess I underestimated this school. I can't imagine what'll happen if it were a real fight," she muttered, "But he's just lucky I couldn't use [Fireball] to avoid getting expelled! In a real fight, he'll be dead in 2 seconds!"
