Chapter 169 - Chapter 169: The End of All Demons

The power of the Chronos Clock's time magic left Zenon in agony.

His movements froze, as if the world itself had hit the pause button. Even the demonic energy within him came to a halt.

Ethan seized the chance. His fist shot forward.

Boom!

It was as if the weight of a mountain had been condensed into that strike.

He had fused Earth Creation Magic into his blows, channeling the heaviness of the land itself into his fists.

Bam! Bam!

Each strike landed solidly, flesh and bone cracking.

Off to the side, Yuno stood stunned.

"Wait—what the hell? He can fight like this? Aren't mages supposed to be long-range? He's like some kind of close-combat brute!"

Zenon's demonic body was being beaten to a pulp.

"Time Magic: Temporal Extension!"

Ethan's grimoire glowed brilliantly. The power of his punches carried on endlessly, one after another.

The damage to Zenon's body piled higher and higher, crushing him beneath the relentless blows.

"It's time for the final strike!"

Gathering every ounce of his mana, Ethan invoked forbidden magic.

Beside him, the Fire Spirit and Wind Spirit poured their strength into him as well.

This was not simple addition—it was exponential, a geometric explosion of power.

Even as a devil host wielding four layers of Domain Power, Zenon could not withstand it.

The air cracked apart. The ground trembled. Distant mountains began to crumble into dust.

The sheer force was overwhelming.

"NO!" Zenon screamed in defiance.

But it was useless.

The colossal wave of power tore through him, wiping him out like a fragile bubble bursting in the sky.

"He's… dead?" Yuno muttered, frozen in disbelief.

Zenon had been stronger than the Word-Soul Devil itself. Back then, even with so many fighting together, they had nearly been wiped out.

And yet Ethan had slain him alone.

Ethan gave a faint smile. "Don't stand there gaping. It's just a devil. Now we kill the rest of them."

He had finally uncovered their weakness.

Devils were powerful, yes.

But they were not of this world. They were intruders, foreign lifeforms from another plane.

No matter how strong, their power was suppressed here. Zenon had originally possessed the strength of six layers of Domain Power—but within this world, he had been reduced to four.

The world itself resisted them.

The very will of the land rejected them.

"It's like stepping into someone else's territory," Ethan murmured. "On my turf, you follow my rules."

And the key to striking them down lay in this world's natural forces.

"Ethan… you've found a way to defeat them?" Yuno asked.

"That's right," Ethan said, glancing at the glowing spirits beside him. "The Spirits."

Wind. Water. Earth. Fire.

The four great elemental spirits of this world.

Reborn from another reality, Ethan knew well what these four elements could do when combined.

Separately, they might not be enough.

Together—they held the power to shape creation itself.

If they could create chaos and cosmos, then surely they could destroy a devil.

"Then we need to find the remaining Spirits. Quickly."

Thus began Ethan's journey.

Not long after, he visited the Queen of the Heart Kingdom. After much discussion, she entrusted him with the Water Spirit.

Among the four, she was the most beautiful—appearing almost entirely human, her ethereal form breathtaking.

Of course, Ethan had no other intentions toward her. She was power, an ally.

"With the Water Spirit in hand… next is Earth."

Finding it, however, proved more difficult.

Ethan wandered across the continent, at times living as a bard, at times as a wandering swordsman, crossing paths with countless people and forming unexpected bonds.

After five years, in a desolate wasteland, he found the Earth Spirit.

It was the strongest of the four. The wasteland itself—miles of barren rock and lifeless soil—was its creation.

Here, it was invincible. Its strength rivaled even Zenon's.

The battle lasted three days and three nights. Ethan summoned the other three Spirits to aid him.

But then, to his astonishment—the Earth Spirit saw them and immediately yielded, pledging its loyalty without a fight.

Ethan could only stare, dumbfounded. "Seriously? I wasted three days and nights for this? If you were going to surrender, you could've just said so earlier."

With all four Spirits united, Ethan finally returned to challenge the devils.

But on the road, he encountered someone unexpected—

a man with a dragon mark on his hand.

Ethan froze. He remembered the prophecy he had once glimpsed: He would die at the hands of this man.

"Die? Me? Impossible," Ethan sneered.

Maybe he would have believed it once. But now, with the Four Spirits at his side, who could stand against him?

Boom! Boom!

He struck first, refusing to gamble with fate.

Wind Magic, Time Magic, Light Magic, Darkness Magic—he unleashed them all like a Grand Master of sorcery.

The man fought back fiercely, wielding every element just as Ethan did. His magic was versatile, strange—perhaps even stronger than Zenon's.

But Ethan's rage burned hotter.

"Die, bastard!"

"You're the bastard!" the man spat back.

Their battle raged until Ethan unleashed the combined force of the Four Spirits. The overwhelming power crushed his foe, erasing him completely.

Among his remains, Ethan found what he had been searching for: proof of another land.

"From… across the sea?"

The oceans were vast and treacherous. Even a Domain Zero mage could perish trying to cross. But Yami had come from the far shore once before.

"This is connected to my past… and my birth," Ethan thought grimly. The man had called him a "half-breed." His origins were shrouded in mystery.

One year later, Ethan returned to the Clover Kingdom.

With the Four Spirits, he used the power of primordial chaos to revive Wizard King Julius.

Together with the Heart Kingdom, they launched the final war against the Spade Kingdom.

The battle was swift and devastating. Asta, Yuno, and the others had grown stronger than ever, each rivaling Zenon himself.

In just three months, they reached the Spade Palace.

There, only two of the Dark Triad remained—Lucifero and Vanica.

Though they ascended to their peak, unleashing their full might, they could not withstand Ethan's power.

Wielding the Four Spirits, he became like a god of creation. Wind, fire, earth, and water swirled together, chaos and cosmos entwined.

In a single devastating strike, the devils were obliterated.

"Victory!" the Spirit Tribe cried. At last, after centuries of struggle, their torment was ended.

The Heart Queen approached Ethan. "Marry me," she said softly. "I'll give you the throne of my kingdom."

But Ethan only shook his head.

"I must find where I come from."

And so he left, sailing across the endless ocean.

After three years of storms and trials, he found land beyond the misty seas.

There, he saw something familiar—towers of grimoires, just like those in the Clover Kingdom.

The people spoke a language he recognized from his first life—ancient Chinese.

In the imperial palace, he met his true parents: the Emperor and Empress. He was their son. A prince.

He also learned the truth of the world.

Devils had long sought to invade. This hidden continent had stood as the first line of defense, forging the Grimoire Towers across every land.

And ten years from now, the gates to the otherworld would open again.

Ethan trained relentlessly. A decade later, he reached the Ninth Layer of Domain Power. When the gates opened, he led the armies of humanity into the abyss itself.

A hundred years later, the devils were gone.

No trace of them remained.

Only statues stood in every city, monuments of the man who saved the world.

The man named Ethan Hayes.
