"If you say even one more word against him, Sadisna, I swear you'll regret it. You and your family destroyed our lives. You made this innocent one suffer for mistakes he never made. You turned his entire life into a curse. Just because he refused to get into your brother's bed, you spread rumors across the whole university and got him sent away. Do you know how much this innocent soul suffered because of you? If your brother hadn't drunkenly confessed everything at the club, I would still be hating him today. I told you the day I left Sri Lanka—I don't want to have anything to do with you. And now I don't ever want to see your face again. Get out of here."
Hirunya spoke all in one breath. His eyes were bloodshot, as if holding back more tears was unbearable. Because of that single sentence, he struggled to breathe.
"What nonsense, aiya…"
That was all Sadisna could say. After watching silently for so long, anger finally boiled over. Malith stormed over and grabbed Sadisna by the hair. Thenu aiya followed quickly behind, not knowing what Malith might do.
Hasith, quietly watching Hirunya, finally noticed the bandage on his hand. When he raised his arm to slap Sadisna earlier, the bracelet he wore had cut into her skin. Rushing to his side, Hasith began to treat his wound. Even though he was hurting himself, what pained him more was seeing his in pain.
When he finished applying medicine and tried to step away, he found himself unable to. He slender arms were wrapped tightly around him, not letting him move.
The next moment, Hasith was sitting on the hospital bed. Hirunya had buried his face in Hasith's chest. As they stayed like that for a while, Hasith felt his shirt slowly grow damp. He rushly lifted his face.
Tears were flowing from Hirunya's eyes.
"Ohh Ruhi… Why are you crying? Are you hurt somewhere? Talk to me, please. What is it?"
"Even after everything I said… why are you still speaking to me so lovingly, Love? I don't deserve it. I'm full of guilt."
He sobbed as he spoke, and Hasith gently ran his hand through Hirunya's hair.
"If you had just said something that day, Love… if you had told me what was in your heart, we wouldn't have been apart for years. If you had only said, 'You are my little daisy flower'… Why, Love? Why did you love me alone and choose to suffer alone… hmm?"
Tears welled in Hasith's eyes too. But Hirunya didn't let even one of them fall.
"You must have cried for years, Love. Do you remember, when we were little and went to the park? I got lost, and while I was crying for my mom, you gave me the only daisy flower you had. You stayed with me until my mom found me. Because you couldn't say 'Hirunya,' you called me Ruhi. And the last time we went to the park, I promised you I'd marry you when I grew up. After my mom passed, no one ever took me to the park again. As time went by, I thought you must have gone somewhere far away. Forgive me, Love, for forgetting you. All those days at university, sitting at the same table, not once did I suspect you were my daisy flower. I was scared, scared that someone else might take the place you had in my heart. That's why I pretended not to care. But I didn't know it was really you—my daisy flower. It's okay now. I'm never going to leave you again."
Hirunya kissed Hasith's forehead and said softly,
"I love you, my Ruhi."
"I love you too, my little daisy flower."
🌼The End....🌼
And so, we bid farewell to the love story of him… and his little daisy flower.
