Chapter 4 - Reborn in Magic (4)

A week passed. Since I began my lesson's in charms. It was one long, humbling, magical and mentally-draining week. Each day began at sunrise, ended after the sun set. Every second was on charms, and there were so many to know.

Each day after my lesson's dad would instruct me in martial arts. It was simple hand eye coordination's, and reflex training. Dad used boxing and wrestling as my foundations. I found them to be relaxing considering I used both in my previous life. When I was done with a that it was late into the night. I then began to do my new ritual of meditating while practicing the levitation charm.

Before I new it the week was over and I had received new skills and spells. As I meditated with two text's books over me I viewed my status window.

That's when I received a ping from the system.

System notification: Levitation Charm [F] → [E].

As I saw the notification of my spell ranking up, I did notice how easier it got to focus when doing both activities. I felt like I could handle more so I stacked another text book on their. Then the same pressure was brought back. I knew I was doing something right then.

Over time mom added the other learning material to our lessons. I had absorb four different school years of spells and knowledge. Some of it was easy, and when mom noticed this things changed. She cranked it into overdrive with the materials. While dad kept the physical training the same only adding philosophical lesson's.

I thought I'd be fine with moms lesson's. After all, I had my old life's knowledge. So a good head start, right? I was so wrong.

Four hellish years past years passed.... Well hell if your a normal kid and not me. one night, I sat crossed legged in my room. I was levitating a few inches in the air. But actually I was sitting on a invisible wall. While a giant vase of water levitated over my head. As I opened eyes after having a thought.

I opened my status window.

I looked at my years of training. not a day of it was wasted. The fact that I had some of spells to B rank was amazing. I didn't learned any Rare rank spells yet. Only the most common ones, moms doing. But I was the one that invested countless hours to refining them when no one was looking.

But looking at all these different spells like this was a eye sore.

"Aia." Then the same female voice of my ex pop up in it's bubbly sweet tone. "Yes Callum how can I help you today."

Even after all these years I still haven't gotten use to it. I even tried to changed the voice but no can do she said. So I limited my interactions with her to keep things simple.

"Aia. Is there anyway of making my system interface easier. All those spells are a eyesore."

"Well Callum, adjustments to the interface can be made. Would you like the window to say less?"

"Yes please."

....Ping....

" Adjustments complete. How does this look to you Callum."

...That looks a lot better. Very minimal, and still says enough. "This looks good Aia."

A tiny giggle could be heard. "Glad to hear it Callum. All I did was minimize your different spells. When you learn a new spell or rank up your skills, spells, and abilities. You will still receive a notification. Unless you think of that particular thing or change the interface again. Then it won't show up when you summon your status window."

Callum smiled as he listen to Aia's explanation. "That's genius."

"I know. I know. Please praise me more senpai. Lol." Aia said in a gingelly voice.

"Thank you Aia. That will be all, please go back to silent mode."

With the silence returning I levitated the vase of water back to the ground and dispersed my invisible barrier I was meditating on.

I then reflected over the past few years. I was now nine years old, I stood taller, and alot stronger then most children my age. Actually I think I was in the top 1 percent of 1 percent for children like me. Physically my body and skills are honed. My martial arts probably put me among the children boxers in the world.

As for my magic I would be considered a genius by most standards. But if I ranked everything. I would probably be A mid to high [C] ranked for both. Now for a child that isn't bad at all. I think it might even put me in the on the same level as some amateur to low level expert wizards and witches. Dueling I can't say for sure. I only ever dueled mom and dad ,and occasionally my aunt Aester.

And the only holding back they do. Is to not end the duel to early. They over power me and cast faster then me in our mock duels. Mom and Aester don't use wands, and can silent cast with ease. Dad uses a wand but manipulates the whole environment around us. Sometimes he would get physical and sneak up and hit me when I was out of breath.

So compared the average first year I would be ahead of the majority. Probably even a few second and third years. But the world is a big place and since this is a different world then the books. Stronger creatures and people are bound to be out there.

Mom even said the Tesfaye family has a special bloodline magic. It's only none to those in our family. She won't tell me saying I have to wait for my aunt to come back from Kyoto for some reason.

I sat on my bed and opened the window. To feel the soft breeze rolling in from the countryside hills. Outside, the sky was painted orange and lavender, morning was here. I ended up training throughout the night again. Good thing meditation at the B rank gives me the same amount of rest as 8 hours of sleep.

That's when my mother walked in. She didn't say anything at first. Just watched gazing out the window.

"My baby boy is such a early riser. I wonder who you get that from." She smiled

I chuckled. "I'm not a baby anymore mom. I just wanted to get a head start on my studies."

She tilted her head with a smile, she then snapped her fingers then a leather-bound tome appeared. It felt old, and humming with quiet magic.

She handed it to me. "This was my father's," she said, " your grandfather's."

I looked up, stunned. "It was Papa's?"

She nodded. " He was a master of ambient magic. He never used a wand after age of fourteen. This tome contains all his notes and knowledge from his life and journey. He blended teachings from Eastern philosophy, Ethiopian spell weaving, and Native American magic. If you use this I am sure you wandless magical skill will improve even more. You have the basic's down, this will help you advance and repolish your basic's."

I then opened the first page. "To any of my descendants who read this. Remember Magic is a wonderful thing. Love it ,and treat it with respect. Never stop growing and teaching others. The script was tight, elegant.

I gave mom a hug. "Thank you mom, I will cherish this."

Mom hugged me back. "Good, I'm glad to hear that. Treat today like a self study day. Your already ahead of your course work. Plus your father will be late today and I have to run a errand. Do you know what that means?"

I nodded. "Yes ma'am. No one should be at the door, If Aunt Aster comes listen to her. If I hear a ping sound that means the manor's barrier is broken or someone has gotten in. I am to head to the basement and or dad's study and go to the golden flame portrait."

Mom nodded. "Good. I love you and the food is on the kitchen table."

"I love you too mom." mom then left the room, while I continued to study the tome.

Within seconds Samira saw how Callum studied magical tome page after page. Samira then left as she apparated away.

Callum read notes from his grandfather, and absorb the knowledge with ease. Hours later Callum interface came to life.

 [System Notification]

Mind's Eye (Rare) [C] to [B]

Your eyes can perceive the world around you beyond mere sight. You can see raw magical energy/ mana. From people to objects. From the color, to the quality of mana and quantity of it. Weaknesses in people and structures will be easily noticed. Lies and falsehood's will no longer escape your gaze.

My eyes snapped open, and I saw and felt it. The difference in the quality of the magic around me. I can see things more clearly. The quality. Shift of elements. Even the magic the ward protecting the manor can perceived. There everywhere, making this place seem like a fortress.

Callum felt like he could truly see now. It was like he had been colorblind and suddenly discovered red. It glowed around him. It felt like standing in the middle of the ocean during a still storm, vast, heavy, infinite.

For a moment, he was afraid, then he smiled.

Callum stood up, still trembling from the depth of it, and looked at the tome still in his hand. Time to keep studying.

Samira apparated to Little Whinging, Surrey, England. She snapped her fingers and clothes shifted. First came a pencil skirt. Navy blue blouse that's hugs her chest. High black heels to finish off her outfit.

She looked at the street signs that said. Privet Drive and looked for the house that said four. She casually walked up as the surrounding neighbors stared at her in awe. He stride was confident. Her appearance beautiful. As she reached the door she began to knock.

Knock...knock...knock...knock

"One moment." A woman's voice says.

Then a few seconds later the door open's. Samira smiled and said, "hello Petunia."
