Chapter 1 - Vengance

On a patch of grass within an evergreen forest, the breeze spread the scent of iron into the air, thus notifying the prowling nocturnal predators of what had just occurred, though they for some reason completely ignored the obvious sign of spoils, even avoiding the area where the scent originated from, along with not pouncing on the fleeing herbivores running alongside them.

At the epicentre of all this commotion stood a figure looming over a mutilated corpse, with a look of disappointment etched on their face as they scoffed "All that for work this underwhelming conclusion, what was the point of me coming here myself, should've just let aone slit his throat''

Loeto then sighed and sat down on the damp grass beneath him as he sat in the clearing enjoying the breeze and absentmindedly staring at the sky, completely ignoring the growing pool of crimson, extra viscous blood due to it's previous vessel somehow managing to be obese an awakened being.

As he exhaled a visible breath Loeto further contemplated how this fat fuck beside him had managed to capture his whole tribe, thus changing the trajectory of his whole life.

......

A young adult with a skinny frame and a head of unruly coily hair sat on the edge of a hill with they're hands clamped around each other

''Whatever higher being there is out there please bless me with a somewhat useful enhancement so I can finally contribute to the pack instead of being a burden on old man warona and granny ketso.

It makes sense that this young man was praying, as today he was turning eighteen, meaning he was going to awaken and become an awakened being, allowing him to hunt and repay the old couple.

The same old couple who'd raised and fed him after his parents left him for dead due to his sickly build, unlike the rest of his litter, who were all several times stronger and faster than him due to their werewolf heritage, unlike Loeto who was an anomaly in the clan as everyone except him were burly and huge.

A startling difference between him and them was his 1.6 meter height in comparison to his 2 meter plus tall agemates, this along with the fact that despite eating as much as the rest of them he couldn't put on any muscle caused him to become the runt of the pack, pushed around by anyone larger than him which unfortunately enough included anyone considered an adolescent(older than 12 but younger than 18).

The only saving grace to his whole scenario is the fact that his pitiful state invoked pity in the clan's sole pair of shamans, who prevented the chief from kicking him out of the safety of the clan and leaving him to the whims of the forest.

Though their grace didn't mean he could just laze around, as the cost of living off their rations and living under their roof was that he tested out whatever concoctions they came up with.
