Chapter 22 - Let's get this over with.

~The Darkling's Mansion ~

Inside a dark room, a woman with blonde hair and golden eyes was looking at a magic blue orb which was focused on the sleeping Henry.

She giggled before she stood up and walked towards her floor-to-ceiling window, she opened the curtains and looked at the garden in the compound.

It was beautiful, the orange sun rays were casting down on different varieties of beautiful flowers planted in the garden.

"How unfortunate. Is this the only gift I can give to you..." She bit her lower kups

"what a bad mother I am," she whispered to herself with a bitter smile.

....

~Zwip~

Olivia appeared in an apartment she bought which was far away from the family house.

It was simply designed– too simple that no one would believe that the daughter of the most influential man in the word was living there.

She slouched on her couch then heaved a sigh of relief.

"What a long day, with an unexpected turn of events."

She let her head fall back, making her face the ceiling.

"He's strong," she whispers as she remembered what occured.

...

"Here take this, it's an orb that I have programmed to teleport you to the nearest forest once you escape into the desert."

She said as a dark red orb floated towards Henry.

He took it and before swallowing it he asked.

"How can I trust you?

"You know my thoughts so you probably know that I plan to revenge against you all."

Henry asked and Olivia closed her eyes.

"True, but I didn't ask for your trust...I don't need it.

"I told you I reward good and punish evil. I'm just fulfilling my duty after considering you good." She said.

Henry looked at the orb, at her and then back at the orb.

"So you're saying that asking me to escape and giving me this orb is your duty...

"I don't know why but I choose to believe you. "

He said an then swallowed the orb.

He immediately felt a surge of energy settle in his abdomen.

The energy circulated throughout his body and he regained strength in his legs.

"You done? Time to go then." Olivia said ready to snap her fingers.

"Don't worry, I'll spare you when I'm destroying the rest."

Henry said with a determined expression which made her smile.

"You do that." She said and sent him out."

...

"He's strong..." Olivia muttered.

She saw in his memory how he held bc defeating his teacher so as not to show his full strength.

His efforts was what made her support him.

"He might be able to accomplish what I can't. I hope my gift helps."

Her expressionless face was now riddled with concern as she looked up at the ceiling.

She immediately jacks herself up, as if remembering something she had forgotten.

"Time to get to work."

...

Back in the white room, Henry was still sleeping but his body was glowing.

There was a very thin line surrounding his body–so thin that it was easy to miss.

In his sleep, a word formed above his face in a foreign language–It was floating but he wasn't awake to notice.

....

It's the fourth day and Henry has been trying to make out the word that refused to disappear from his sight.

It was floating and faced whatever direction he turned his face to.

'What is this...wait, it has the same language with the book.'

He thought and summoned the book, only to realize that it was the same language.

~Tsss~

The door opened and a bald fat man walked in interrupting Henry.

"Act like the lab rat you are and follow me for your experiment."

The man said, but Henry ignored him, still looking at the air in front of him.

'What"'s wrong with him? Those eyes aren't his they have...more life now.

'What the hell happened with him and the Grim Reaper. Did she hit him too had that he's gone mad?

"Didn't you hear me you this...this– thing?!

"I said that it was time for your–"

"I heard you the first time, quite making noise already, geez"

Henry cut him off as he stood up while scratching the back of his hair.

"Huh? Me? Noise?! I see you no longer remember your manners, I shall teach you how to control your mouth and respect your elders!"

The man said as he brought out a laser of more than three thousand volts of electricity and tased Henry with it.

"Ha! That should put you in your place. Who do you think you are talking back to me?

"Do you think your father cares about you and still leaves you to be a test subject?

"Your dad doesn't care about anything we'd do to you, get that into your thick skull, because after the experiment, you'll become A WASTE OF SPACE"

The man yelled. Henry stopped and looked at him.

"Do you think I give a damn about where I come from or what I am?

"Look Ishmael, I'm a bit edgy today, so I might not entertain you as usual. I'm asking politely, do not annoy me further."

Henry warned in a cold voice which sent shivers down Ishmael's spine.

'What? He...he has gone mad. The laser didn't even affect him?'

Ishmael's surprise was understandable. Henry who would usually only comply like a dog was now talking back to him with some kind of spark in his eyes.

"He...hehe ...hahahaha!" Ishmael laughed as

"You? Who the fuck cares about you getting angry? Not me asshole–!"

~Splurt!~

Blood splashes across the white wall.

"Huh?"

Ishmael's eyes widened, as he saw his whole arm severed from his shoulder, his bones visible and his blood pumping out.

"Killing you is going to be a hassle, this much should shut you up." How could he have forgotten?

Henry was surprised at his own actions. It seemed that he couldn't contain the excitement of knowing someone had his back.

He held back his actions since he thought he'd just be fighting alone.

But after the encounter with his sister. He decided to be bolder.

"Seems like sis didn't just give me a teleportation orb. I feel more strengthened."

Henry said while looking at his hand. He threw Ishmael's arm to him and started walking out.

"My arm!" Ishmael's horrific scream faded into background as Henry sank into his thoughts.

Thinking of how he'd decipher the language and escape the hellhole he was in

"I better hurry to get the meds, he'd die from blood lost if I leave him."

.....

~Ding~ He entered the experiment room.

"Welcome young master" The few staff in the lab greeted him and he nodded towards them

~flop~ He flung his clothe out of his body completely naked.

The girls there though with blushing face still stole a few glances at his striking feature but...then their face turned to horror as the scars in his body outshone his good physique.

"Why Henry? I thought I told you not to do that anymore. You're no longer a kid." Augustina, the woman in charge of handling the experiment said.

"What difference does it make, you have seen it all. I'm hungry so let's make this quick." Henry replied.

She was first taken aback by his demeanor but regained herself immediately.

"But still....ugh nevermind. Where's Ishmael? I thought he was supposed to escort you back here?"

She asked.

"Oh... about that, you should probably send cleaners and medics up there."

"Why?" She asked.

"Well, I kinda pulled too hard and his left arm left his body. But it was a clean cut, should be able to ne fix back by healers."

Henry explained.

"Strange, you don't usually talk this much and although we all know how much of an asshole Ishmael's been, you didn't ever react. What's gotten into you all of a sudden?"

Markus, one of Augustina's assistants asked.

"I guess I changed. You wouldn't know but apparently people change after a visit to hell."

His words sent shivers down their spine.

Now they understood, he had just passed out after spending less than ten minutes with the Grim Reaper.

He noticed new machines and extra tubes but didn't bother to ask and continued to walk towards it.

"I'm hungry so let's get this over with."
