Then let it be.
Sophie Smith steeled herself and walked inside.
She pushed open the door and stepped onto the soft carpet, following a wide corridor further in.
The wall sconces emitted a warm yellow light; she clung to the walls, moving heavily step by step, feeling like she would never reach the study at the end of the corridor.
Finally, she stopped in front of the study door.
The door was ajar, and there seemed to be voices inside.
She instinctively turned to leave but accidentally bumped into the maid carrying tea and water. Without having time to see clearly, she collided with her. The tea set fell onto the soft carpet; although it didn't make a loud noise, the maid's exclamation caught the attention of those in the study.
Nathan Land came out and saw Sophie bent over, hurriedly helping the maid clean up the mess on the floor. He frowned uncomfortably.
"What are you doing here?"
An eerie voice rang out, causing Sophie to drop what she was holding again.
