Sophie Smith wandered around aimlessly with her wine glass; she hadn't really wanted to attend Irene Morton's birthday party.
Just thinking about possibly having to stand beneath the stage later, accepting the reality that Asher Land was going to be engaged to Irene, made her heart ache terribly, as if she were suffocating.
She raised the glass to her lips and took a large sip.
At this moment, she truly wanted the alcohol to numb her, but she had to maintain her composure. After all, in such a public place, she had to be mindful of her image; she absolutely couldn't let herself act recklessly here.
