Her indifference made him feel even more distressed and guilty.
"Asher Land, I'm a bit tired and want to rest for a while."
Her voice indeed sounded somewhat weary. He said nothing more, pulling her body close, letting her lean on his shoulder.

A cold tear fell down, landing on the back of his hand.
He was startled; he could sense the change in her emotions.
"Sophie Smith, please, don't stay silent, okay? Just say whatever you want to say, alright? Don't keep it in your heart. I know this time I'm the bastard..." He really panicked; the lack of her response made him genuinely anxious and fearful.
"I want to leave here..." Her voice choked up a bit, "Asher Land, I want to leave here. Can you let me go, please? I want to go back to Eastern City."
He let out a wry smile at the corner of his mouth, his large hand gently caressing her face.
