He naturally wrapped his arm around her waist, enclosing her in his embrace.
"How was your day?"
He softly asked, and Sophie thought he was actually trying to find out if Irene had given her a hard time today.
She didn't answer but simply looked up, gazing at him.
"Not good at all. I missed you a lot, having not seen you all day."
Asher Land's grip around her waist tightened noticeably, the surprise still lingering in his eyes, which Sophie caught.
Clearly, this man wasn't used to her speaking sweet words.
He affectionately brushed a stray lock of her hair behind her ear, his lips curling into a smile.
The sky rumbled with thunder, accompanied by a streak of lightning.
Sophie's body instinctively shivered, and almost as a reflex, he buried her head in his chest.
"Let's go in, it's going to rain heavily soon."
