"Hmm hmm!" Maya nodded, lifting her right hand to start a new round of the game.
As her arm landed on the table and she removed the cover, she felt foolishly disappointed again — she had rolled a one.
Looking at the single dot in the dice cup, Maya bit her lip and couldn't help but smile foolishly. Turning to Liam, she said with a laugh and tears in her eyes, "I might as well go buy a lottery ticket."
Liam watched her face, amused by her laugh, her furrowed brow, and the helpless glint at the corner of her eye, and shook his head with a smile.
After laughing, he held Maya's little hand, gently slapped the back of her hand twice, and said, "How can your hand be this unlucky?"
"Ouch! It hurts!" Maya pouted immediately and cried out in pretend pain as Liam playfully hit her.
In truth, it didn't hurt at all. She was just being dramatic, enjoying Liam's indulgent gaze upon her, loving how his sweet reprimands made her feel cherished, so she unabashedly acted spoiled even in public.
