Edward Stephens quietly watched him, remaining silent.

Robert Stephens said to Charlotte Smith, "Charlotte, let's go."

Charlotte responded with a nod. She lifted her eyes and couldn't help but glance at Edward, whose expression was icy, though the fingers hanging by his side were clenched into a fist, with prominent veins on his wrist.

If only he could be a little stronger—this thought suddenly emerged in Charlotte's mind. Then, her face turned pale, as if she had thought of something blasphemous.

She quickly packed that stray thought and pressed it into the deepest recess of her heart, returning to her original demeanor, obediently pushing Robert Stephens out of Daisy Ginger's hospital room.
