The nurse left, and Daisy Ginger closed her eyes, pretending to sleep.
Not long after, Edward Stephens returned. He came over, sat by the bedside, and looked down at her.
No matter how resilient Daisy's nerves were, she couldn't fall asleep under his X-ray-like penetrating gaze.
She opened her eyes, meeting the man's dark gaze, and said helplessly, "What's wrong?"
"I'm leaving later. Just sitting here to watch you for a while."
"..." Daisy blinked slowly, then asked nonchalantly, "Is it nice to look at?"
Edward: "Not really."
Daisy: "..."
"But having something to look at isn't bad. I'm not picky."
Such a reluctant tone.
Daisy glanced at him sideways, waved her hand impatiently like shooing away a fly, "Just go, I want to sleep."
The man reached out naturally and held her waving hand. His body temperature was slightly higher than hers, causing Daisy to instinctively flinch and try to withdraw from his palm.
