Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Malicious Intent

She knew that Jiang Xue didn't like Qian Cheng. Even though she was forced to marry him, she didn't love him at all, and even hated him. Jiang Xue felt that Mu Qiancheng had taken advantage of her, forcing her to marry him by exploiting her father's illness and need for money.

"Really?" Jiang Xue responded faintly. In her past life, she trusted Cheng Li immensely, so no matter what Cheng Li said, she always interpreted it positively and never negatively.

But living this life again, hearing Cheng Li say such things, she discerned a different flavor. Cheng Li wanted her to reject this child because she knew she hated Qian Cheng. If the child looked like Qian Cheng, she would transfer her hatred for Qian Cheng onto the child, as the saying goes, "hate the house and its crow."

In her past life, she indeed did just that. After Cheng Li told her the child looked like Mu Qiancheng, she hated the child and eventually didn't even want to look at him, leaving him directly to the care of her in-laws.

But now, things are different. She has died once and finally understood who truly cared for her, so how could she repeat the same mistake?

Not only wouldn't she, but she would also love them even more, making up for her past life's shortcomings.

"Little Xue?" Cheng Li looked at Jiang Xue in surprise, unable to believe that she hadn't rejected the child as she had anticipated.

What's going on? It's been, what, less than two days? How has Jiang Xue changed her heart?

Previously, whenever Qian Cheng was mentioned in front of Jiang Xue, she would explode, then irritably say, "Don't mention him."

But now, she not only mentioned Qian Cheng but also specifically noted that the child looked like Qian Cheng, yet Jiang Xue didn't react at all. This was beyond a minor discrepancy; it was practically overwhelming.

"What's wrong?" Jiang Xue looked at Cheng Li with confusion, seeing her incredulous expression, a sense of pleasure inexplicably flashed through her heart.

She could tell Cheng Li was anxious, but she wanted to keep Cheng Li anxious, gradually exposing her true colors.

She wanted to see why Cheng Li would hate her to the point of wanting to kill her.

"Nothing, nothing at all." Cheng Li felt a bit guilty under Jiang Xue's gaze, reaching out to touch the baby's face. However, her hand was intercepted midway by Jiang Xue.

"Little Xue, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts." Cheng Li cried out in pain while watching Jiang Xue, surprised once again at her protective demeanor reminiscent of a mother hen guarding her chick.

Today's Jiang Xue completely overturned her previous understanding. Not only did she not reject the child, but she treated Cheng Li this way. Where did things go wrong, and why did Jiang Xue change so drastically in a short time?

"The child is still young; don't touch him." Jiang Xue said lightly, releasing Cheng Li's hand.

Seeing the red mark on her hand, Cheng Li's anger surged. She wanted nothing more than to slap Jiang Xue but given that she was Jiang Xue's good friend and confidant, how could she hit her?

Moreover, since her goal wasn't achieved, she had to swallow her anger for now.

"Little Xue, do you really like this child? He's Qian Cheng's son." Cheng Li, observing Jiang Xue's nonchalant expression, brought up Qian Cheng again.

She wanted to provoke Jiang Xue's hatred, but was disappointed once more. Jiang Xue simply said, "He's also my son."
