While Da Bao was handling business, Nuonuo walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, pulled back half of the curtain, and called home to say she was safe while taking in the view outside.
"Just arrived now?" On the other end of the phone was Le Tong, who had actually received a call from Xiao Li earlier that morning when Nuonuo was left at Da Bao's dorm, but now she was pretending to play dumb and took the opportunity to tease her daughter.
Nuonuo, still a child, coughed awkwardly a couple of times to cover her embarrassment.
"No, I arrived a little after nine this morning, but I was busy making soup and cooking for my brother, and forgot to tell you all I was okay."
"Ah, children growing up don't rely on their mothers anymore... Mommy understands..." Le Tong intentionally sounded pitiful, sighing deeply, making Nuonuo feel very guilty.
