Chapter 17 - Chapter 16: Unemployed Youth

Got interested, for the past two nights I haven't been studying diligently, but instead learned to knit scarves.

Mom's scarf is yellow, Lin Wan chose herself, she wanted a scarf. The sweater she knitted for herself is red, with a white lotus-shaped large collar.

She also knitted herself a loose cardigan with a braided pattern, a bit Korean vintage style.

It looks very nice when worn.

Lin Wan considered herself to be in vogue. In her past life, she saw other girls wearing it and thought it looked great, secretly envying being born at the wrong time.

Now, suddenly back in her youthful days, she naturally couldn't miss out.

The first day Lin Wan wore it outside, her neighbor immediately fancied it and insisted on asking Lin Wan where she bought it.

"Sister Ma, I knitted this myself. If Sister Ma wants it, I'll make it for you in a week. Ten yuan per piece, Sister Ma can choose the color herself." Lin Wan has become acquainted with several nearby families during this period. She knows that Sister Ma's husband works at the town government, and Sister Ma also teaches at the town's elementary school. They have been married for two years and have no children yet, with some savings on hand.

"So expensive, Lin sister, make it cheaper." She really wanted it; it looked great on her. As a teacher, she was very particular about clothing.

"Sister Ma, feel this material, high-quality wool, won't pill, the cost is right there. If Sister Ma wants it, just pay me half the deposit. Butcher Zhang's daughter from East Street also fancied it today while buying breakfast, considering letting me knit one for her. It takes me many days to knit a piece of clothing." Lin Wan couldn't afford to be soft-hearted, especially when she's working overtime and the labor cost is high. "Waiter, bring me two servings of dumplings with meat, and one of each dish the shop offers." At a little past one in the afternoon, seven or eight young people came to the shop, led by a young man dressed in the most fashionable clothes of the time, with his hands in his pockets, he loudly spoke to Lin Wan as soon as he entered.

"Okay, please wait a moment." Lin Wan saw that so many people were coming, quickly greeted them with a smile, arranged a table for them, and poured a kettle of water.

She went to the kitchen to inform Mom, then returned to serve the dishes to their table.

"Waiter, do you have any alcohol here?" The man who spoke earlier lit a cigarette, took a puff, and asked while exhaling the smoke from the side of his face.

"No," Lin Wan still replied with a smile.

These so-called young adults who knew nothing were actually idlers, uncared-for people, wandering aimlessly in the town all day. From the moment they entered, Lin Wan knew these people were just unruly punks. Lin Wan didn't want to encounter such people, but running a business, one will inevitably meet all sorts, so she learned to cope.

"How can a restaurant not have any alcohol?" The young man frowned disdainfully, handed a coin and a liquor ticket to a little sidekick beside him, "Go to the supply and marketing department to buy a few bottles of liquor, let's have a couple of drinks today, guys."

Seeing this, Lin Wan didn't say anything further and quietly retreated to the kitchen to help Mom make dumplings.

While helping Mom in the kitchen, she listened to the chatter of these punks.

Today, it was either stealing a shovel from that household or beating up some kid. Small kids with cigarette butts in their mouths strutting around, even Ye Wanyao found it amusing, but these kids were not easy to mess with.

Generally, their families have money, and wealthy families are arrogant. If you really upset them, there's nothing you can do. Lin Wan carefully served on the side.
