Chapter 14 - Chapter 014: Laughter with Profound Implications

Han Xi's legs were so weak from panic, tears streaming down, as she continually shouted "Help."

Suddenly, a tall figure stood in front of the two people. Han Xi looked up, seeing a burly man in a black uniform clenching his fists, making a "creaking" sound, looking very intimidating.

"Sir, can you please help me call the police? I don't know this bastard, please help me, will you?"

Han Xi felt like she had grabbed a lifeline, with a glimmer of hope igniting in her heart, thinking she might be saved.

"Let go of this lady immediately," the man in the black uniform said in a low voice.

"Just because you say so? I'm not scared of you. I'm taking this woman today."

Almost at the same time, as Lu Jingchen finished speaking, the man's fist smashed onto his face, causing Lu Jingchen to stagger back a few steps. Han Xi took the opportunity to free herself from his grasp, her weak legs almost causing her to fall, but she luckily steadied herself against the wall.

"You dare hit me? Tired of living."

Lu Jingchen spat, signaling to the people in the booth to come out.

Five or six men aggressively stood in front of the man in the black uniform. Without needing to fight, Han Xi could tell just by looking at the numbers that they were doomed.

One against six, unless the man in the black uniform was Bruce Lee.

Han Xi frantically fumbled in her pocket for her phone, dialing the emergency number. She had just given the address when Lu Jingchen snatched the phone away: "Want to call the police?"

"Give me my phone back, the police will be here soon."

Lu Jingchen looked at Han Xi's fair face, itching to grab and squeeze it properly, his heart restless, thinking so and attempting to do so. But before his hand could touch Han Xi, a cry of pain was heard.

The man in the black uniform snapped his wrist, kicking Lu Jingchen heavily in the stomach as the other men rushed forward.

In the chaos, Han Xi picked up a vase nearby and smashed it onto Lu Jingchen's head, venting all her frustrations from the day: "I'll let you hit on me, you damn hooligan."

Lu Jingchen's head was bleeding from the smash, covering the blood dripping from his forehead, glaring fiercely at Han Xi: "I won't rest until I've dealt with you." As he spoke, he lunged toward Han Xi.

Han Xi had no intention of escaping, feeling it would be dishonorable to abandon the man in the black uniform who had risked his life to save her. She couldn't bring herself to do that.

Frantically picking up a nearby stainless steel trash can and swinging it at Lu Jingchen, hitting him squarely in the face, pain contorting Lu Jingchen's features.

"I'll teach you to be a hooligan, to bully people." Han Xi vented her anger without stopping.

The man in the black uniform quickly subdued Lu Jingchen's useless "partners," just as Fu Bin, coming out from the booth to smoke, witnessed the scene, as shocked as if struck by lightning, glancing at the man in the black uniform beside Han Xi, walking over with an enigmatic smile.

"Doctor Han, is there anything you need help with?"

Han Xi recognized Fu Bin from seeing him in Lu Jinghan's ward last time: "No need." She said, picking up her phone off the ground and dialing the emergency number.

She explained the situation and location to the police before hanging up, turning to the man in the black uniform beside her, speaking: "Sir, I really appreciate what you did just now."
