He thought Melody Parker had discovered Ralph Carter's whereabouts and was calling to demand an explanation.
Muir quickly explained, "Melody, Daddy was worried about you, afraid you'd get into trouble, so he had Ralph Carter follow you to protect you secretly."
After speaking, he carefully asked, "Melody, you won't blame Daddy, will you?"
"No, I won't!" Melody Parker affirmed.
Upon finishing, she directly requested, "Daddy, please ask Ralph Carter to come find me. There's something I need him to investigate."
Because of Ralph Carter, Muir clearly knew what was happening on Melody Parker's side.
Though he knew earlier, he refrained from actively asking to avoid revealing Ralph Carter's presence to Melody Parker.
