Slowly, Iris Harris moved a bit; she braced herself and slowly lifted her head. She had been knocked unconscious and for a moment had no sensation at all.

Her vision was blood-red. She reached out her hand, and blood droplets from her forehead fell into her palm.

She had hit her forehead and was injured.

Iris raised her hand, wiped the blood from her face, and then looked up at the man standing on the stairs.

He was looking at her too, but the blood on her forehead flowed down again, making it hard for her to see his expression.

It's better not to see.

Iris raised her hand, wiped away the blood again, and thought to herself, it's better not to see.

She didn't feel pain, only a deep chill in her heart. Wasn't she originally already despairing over this man? Yet, her heart still felt cold, like there was a hole.

Perhaps, she never thought that even after all that, he could still be so ruthless to her.

But it was indeed so.

This person had never shown her any mercy.
