Half an hour later, Natalie's condition stabilized.
Johan wiped the sweat from his forehead, yet his furrowed brows didn't relax: "Without equipment, I can't see the damage to her internal organs. Her head has suffered a severe blow, and losing so much blood is not a good sign."
Bleeding itself isn't fatal; what's fatal is internal hemorrhaging.
Connor, anxious and heartbroken, asked, "What should we do then?"
"Let's observe first. If it doesn't work, we must take her to the hospital for a full examination. Exposing the fact that she's alive is better than letting her really die."
And if they were careful enough, they might not even be exposed.
Exhausted, Johan sat on the floor. Natalie never told him much, but on the way there, Ruth mentioned they couldn't let it be known that Natalie was alive, which gave him a vague glimpse into his sister's crisis and predicament.
"Connor, is someone trying to kill my sister?"
