Chapter 11 - Chapter 004: Unable to Resist

The performance ended, and that gentle last note seemed to still linger in the air. Su Wan, feeling relieved, opened her eyes and looked at the man in front of her, locking eyes with him.

"'Amazing Grace'?" he asked knowingly.

Su Wan nodded.

Fu Weiheng straightened his back slightly, rested his arms on the table edge, and stared at her with a deep and cool gaze. "Why did you choose this piece?"

Why? Because it was her father's favorite, a tribute to him.

Without thinking, she replied, "My father said it's a song of forgiveness, and anyone who listens to it will feel comforted and at ease."

...

After finishing all the audition pieces and leaving the room, Su Wan finally felt slightly relieved, though recalling Fu Weiheng's enigmatic gaze just moments ago made her palms begin to sweat again.

Fortunately, she passed the interview.

The reason for her success was Fu God's casual comment, "As your father said, I feel comforted and at ease right now, so you're hired," which made her feel something indescribably wonderful…

"Ding!" went the crisp elevator sound, and Su Wan slung her violin over her shoulder and stepped out.

Fu Weiheng drove his newly purchased black Cayenne out of the underground parking lot, just in time to see her elegant figure exiting the company gate. With a violin on her back and her hair in a ponytail, wearing a shirt and trousers, she appeared less gentle but more decisive, and her graceful silhouette momentarily distracted him.

On a whim, Fu Weiheng honked the horn.

Su Wan was walking leisurely ahead, hearing the horn behind her, assuming she was in the way, instinctively moved aside, but the car stopped beside her a few seconds later.

She turned her head to see the black Cayenne shining bright under the sunlight.

While she was in a daze, the car window rolled down slowly, revealing Fu Weiheng's cold profile. His slender fingers on the window control button, he asked indifferently, "Where to?"

Su Wan was startled, looked around to confirm he was speaking to her, then replied, "Back to school."

Fu Weiheng held the steering wheel with one hand and said in a tone that brooked no objection, "Get in."

The steady and gentle voice distracted Su Wan for a moment. She was still thinking about how to politely refuse when her mouth spoke first, "Okay."

After closing the car door, Su Wan belatedly realized, bit her lip in frustration, thinking she clearly intended to decline… this is leading to being silently sold out one day…

The car was already moving on the road, the violin music playing inside was beautiful like a song, with a rich melody that sounded incredibly skillful.

Yes, Paganini's Caprice.

Su Wan glanced at the man beside her from the corner of her eye. He drove with an air of nonchalance, his right hand on the steering wheel, his left elbow resting on the window ledge, the back of his hand lightly touching his lips, eyes focused on the road.

A high nose bridge, long and thick eyelashes, deep ink-like eyes, and soft, delicate black hair…

As she stared, Su Wan began to complain internally, how unfair life was, really unfair…

The car interior was silent, the atmosphere slightly awkward.

Should she be the one to speak first? Perhaps say thank you, or invite him for a meal? After all, he did help her. After a moment of indecision, Su Wan tentatively spoke in a soft voice, "Mr. Fu?"

"Yes." He responded, his eyes still on the road ahead.

Su Wan's eyes slowly moved towards him. "I'd like to invite you to a meal, are you free?" She paused and seeing Fu Weiheng's eyes deepen, felt he misunderstood something, quickly added, "It's just to simply thank you for your help last time…"

Fu Weiheng turned his head to glance at her, his thin lips curving slightly in an ambiguous smile, "Sure."

Being looked at like that made Su Wan feel flustered, as if she really had some ulterior motive, quickly sat upright, and turned her gaze out the window.

Her phone vibrated, and Su Wan took it out to look. It was a text from her high school cousin Qin Mu, far away in Yi City.

Cousin: Su Wan! When are you coming back!

Su Wan: Mind your manners! Call me sister.

Cousin: Sis! Come back soon, I'm so bored alone, I'm nearly bored for the entire summer /(ㄒoㄒ)/~~

Su Wan: …Aren't you supposed to study for the college entrance exam next semester, study hard.

Cousin: …Sis, I thought there was no generation gap between us.

Su Wan: Three years is a generation gap, we're four years apart.

Cousin: …

Cousin: Sis, why don't you reply to my WeChat, my mother says she wants to video call you!

Su Wan: I'm outside, I'll contact you when I get back.

Cousin: There's a romance!!!

The three words made Su Wan's heart involuntarily skip a beat, so she couldn't help but glance at the man beside her again, and a strange idea suddenly popped into her head… Just great, they've only met a few times… Startled, Su Wan quickly turned her head away, muttering under her breath, "Gonna get sold, gonna get sold…"
