The eye sockets of the war helm gleamed with a dark red light, and two horns sprouted from its head.
Its faceplate was hideous and terrifying—like the head of a demon.
The gaps in its chest armor were covered with blood-red, jade-like streamlined plates, exuding both an oppressive and sinister aura.
Dark red wings that blotted out the sky shrouded the entire Hokage Rock.
The war boots beneath its leg armor stomped mercilessly upon the Zero-Tails' body. The towering dark red Susanoo stood solemn and majestic, like a god-demon descended to slay evil and uphold justice.
Heaven and earth changed color.
Dark crimson swept across the sky.
Inside the shelter, on the inner wall, atop a high and hidden balcony—
A little girl's face was smudged with crimson paint. Holding a palette in her left hand and a paintbrush in her right, she sat properly before a canvas, sketching strokes with utmost focus.
Her eyes were vacant—
Yet she painted in a trance.
The shrill screams echoing from the lower levels and inner walls went completely ignored. Several canvases were already scattered around her.
On the first painting, countless people huddled within the vast and dim shelter—some worried, some chatting to ease their fears.
On the second, the outer wall shattered, and a blinding light descended from the heavens.
On the third, along with the light came countless shinobi from other villages, followed by slaughter where human life was treated like grass.
Regardless of gender or age, all fell beneath the blade. None could escape, none could resist. The shelter had turned into a hell of carnage.
At this moment, the girl wasn't even paying attention to the broken outer wall. Instead, she meticulously painted the Zero-Tails' lower body, crushed into flesh beneath a colossal foot.
But when she raised her brush to depict the dark red armor, her hand suddenly froze.
The ground trembled. Crack! Her paintbrush snapped in two.
That was fate she could no longer bend into reality with her art!
She suddenly turned to look toward the outer wall.
Through the breach in the wall—like a skylight—two worlds, inside and outside, were linked.
The girl laughed.
Her smile was terrifying.
Her name was Kurama Yakumo, a genius descendant of Konoha's former genjutsu clan, the Kurama Clan.
She could turn the things she imagined into reality—her power could even alter the real world.
But right now, Kurama Yakumo was bewildered. Her ability had no effect on a certain person.
"Go… with this one's power, you can achieve everything you desire!"
A sinister, hoarse whisper echoed in her ear, a terrifying figure flashing through her mind.
Outside the gaping wall—
The mountain-like dark red Susanoo drew its blazing crimson "demon blade" and slashed down again and again upon the Zero-Tails' head.
"Hissss—!"
The Zero-Tails wailed in agony. The searing crimson flames burned into its very brain.
It tried to struggle, but all in vain.
…
Root Organization Base
On the rooftop—
Hashirama stood on the tiles beside Tobirama, who had just returned from the Root prison. Both gazed toward the Hokage Rock.
By now, the mountain range had been completely engulfed by the dark red Susanoo—only its massive back was visible.
The crimson glow reflected in Hashirama's eyes stirred memories, pulling him into deep thought. After a long silence, he finally uttered a name:
"Madara…"
Tobirama shot his brother a glance and sighed. "You still can't forget him."
Even Tobirama's mind was in turmoil.
Behind them, Koharu Utatane and Homura Mitokado stood trembling in shock.
At last, the two Hokage Advisors understood how, back at the Valley of Judgment, those tens of thousands of fodder shinobi—and even Hiruzen's clansman, Hiashi, along with Jiraiya's summoning toad Gamabunta—had all been wiped out.
Complete Body Susanoo!
Without the First Hokage to balance it, that power was enough to dominate the entire world.
"Tobirama, think of something quickly—we can't just abandon our people!" Hashirama urged anxiously.
He shook his head, trying to cast away memories of Madara. Yet the warm recollections of their friendship always forced their way back.
"…Haaah."
Tobirama sighed, then turned to glare furiously at the two disciples behind him:
"Open your eyes wide and look carefully! This is the monster you created! Useless fools—incapable in war outside, but masters of infighting within!!"
Koharu and Homura lowered their heads in shame, like quails before a hawk.
"I need time to restore Brother to his peak. For now, we cannot stop Uchiha Yu."
After venting his anger, Tobirama spoke gravely:
"While we still have the chance—retreat!"
"What about the clans and the ordinary villagers?" Hashirama protested helplessly. "If we just abandon them like this, will the great clans ever agree?"
"Brother, do you really believe that, under that fool Hiruzen Sarutobi's arrangements, those people could possibly survive?"
Tobirama's voice turned cold:
"If the clans refuse to leave, then even the last spark of hope will be lost. They'll make the right choice."
"Looks like something is holding down that Susanoo. Hurry—retreat while we can!"
After speaking, Tobirama was the first to retreat back to the Root Organization base to prepare for follow-up matters.
Hashirama gazed at the back of the dark-red Complete Susanoo. His expression was heavy. After a sigh, he leapt down from the building.
He also wanted to stop this tragedy from happening, but his current strength no longer allowed it.
---
Outside the Root Organization base.
Ōnoki, the Raikage, and Rasa stared blankly at the god-demon-like figure of the dark-red Susanoo.
"Uchiha Yu!"
Ōnoki's aged face grew solemn as he muttered under his breath.
Back in the Valley of Sanctions…
Even though the heavy fog had shrouded everything…
When the Iwagakure army was marching, there had been an earthquake at the valley's exit, and beyond the fog flashed that same intense crimson glow.
At that time, Ōnoki hadn't understood. Now, just like those two Konoha advisors before him, he gradually began to realize—and feel a chill of fear.
He had seen the corpses that littered the Valley of Sanctions.
Of course, Ōnoki had witnessed even more horrifying battlefields in the Shinobi World before. But one had to know—the Valley of Sanctions' slaughter was almost entirely caused by Uchiha Yu alone.
Now that the Complete Susanoo had descended upon Konoha… once the greatest of the shinobi villages…
Today it would perish!
"A, considering you were able to put aside your grudge and work with Iwa after we killed the Third Raikage, I'll give you a word of advice." Ōnoki floated in the air, his tone grave. "From here on out—run!"
"You want me to give up Konoha, already within my grasp?" The Raikage fixed his gaze on the Susanoo and said coldly, "Impossible!"
At this moment, both Ōnoki and Rasa felt the desire to retreat—only the Raikage's face hardened, his heart instead stirring with battle-lust.
"Fine then. You keep attacking from the front. From the way Konoha's remnants are positioned, I think they're preparing to retreat. We Iwa-nin will circle behind and cut them off."
With that, Ōnoki floated away toward the Iwa encampment.
Naturally, he was unwilling to let go of Konoha's fertile land so easily.
But the appearance of Uchiha Yu seemed to herald something… and made Ōnoki wary enough to hedge his bets.
"Coward. Is this the reason you've managed to live so long, Ōnoki?"
The Raikage sneered at his retreating figure.
Beside him, Rasa lifted his gaze toward the towering Complete Susanoo. Then he looked back at the dwindling number of Konoha shinobi, torn between hesitation and resolve.
The appearance of Uchiha Yu was, to them, an enormous unknown.
---
Outside Konoha.
To the east.
The training grounds.
The massive serpent Garaga head loomed, while Orochimaru's face was illuminated by the crimson glow.
Excitement gleamed in his eyes as he smiled. "Tsunade, behold—the birth of a new God of Shinobi!"
They were fifty or sixty kilometers from the village, a trivial distance for shinobi.
And yet, from here, they could still clearly see it.
That hundred-meter-tall crimson giant stood like a mountain between heaven and earth, magnificent and overwhelming.
"Hehehe…" Orochimaru's smile widened, his heart brimming with emotion.
As expected, wherever Uchiha Yu passed, nothing survived—disaster was inevitable.
"…"
A trace of sorrow colored Tsunade's beautiful face. She knew Konoha had already fallen completely.
The village her grandfather had painstakingly built had collapsed in a single day, ruined in the hands of today's Konoha leadership.
And the one to personally destroy Konoha… was the very person they themselves had pushed to the opposing side.
That was the cruelest tragedy of all.
Shizune and Uzuki Yugao stood frozen behind her, utterly speechless—the shock of the Complete Susanoo defied all words.
---
Konoha's eastern streets.
When Tamao rejoined the unit—
The Uchiha had just finished crushing the Konoha shinobi on the frontlines and were regrouping.
Tamao noticed that young Suigetsu hadn't been cowed by the battle. He praised him with a grin: "Not bad, not bad. You truly are a born shinobi saint body!"
"Eh? Big Brother Tamao, what's a shinobi saint body…?" Suigetsu asked, puzzled.
"I don't know either, just something I made up." Tamao raised his head toward the Susanoo, his voice heavy. "What matters now is—we need to help my brother!"
"Oh—"
Suigetsu scratched his head, still confused.
The Uchiha headed together beneath the Hokage Rock.
"Captain…"
"Yu-sama."
On the way forward, Uchiha Izumi and Uchiha Mikoto's faces showed sorrow.
Everyone was shocked by the terrifying might of the Complete Susanoo.
Only they knew the kind of price that had to be paid to unleash such divine power.
Don't be fooled by Uchiha Yu's current invincible appearance.
He also had an absolute weakness.
That was the period after releasing the Complete Susanoo, before he could drink the green potion.
The Uchiha clan knew this well.
Their very purpose now might be to protect Uchiha Yu during his moment of weakness.
"…"
Mikoto and the others approached the shadow of the cliff, constantly wary of flying debris, drawing ever closer to the source of the dark-red light.
The earth trembled violently.
The dark-red Susanoo swung its blazing chakra blade, effortlessly slicing the Zero-Tails into countless fragments, as if an adult were chopping apart a small snake.
Within the helmet's dark-red gemstone…
Uchiha Yu's pupils glowed scarlet, his Mangekyō Sharingan Yasakani Magatama gazing downward.
From the beginning until now, the Zero-Tails seemed powerless to resist, but even though its body was being torn apart, it showed no signs of being fatally wounded.
Behind him stood Kushina, along with Rin and Nonoyu, who were constantly healing his body.
The two women Orochimaru had sent…
Were still of use.
When activating Susanoo, Uchiha Yu constantly endured the backlash on his body, but Edo Tensei Rin possessed infinite chakra, effectively making her a moving spring of healing water.
Nonoyu's chakra could eventually run dry, but Rin's never would.
"Why… why would the Third Hokage and the others push such power to the opposing side of Konoha?"
Kushina spoke numbly.
She stared at Yu's back, her long red hair—dyed darker under the crimson light—fluttering behind her.
At that moment, beneath the cliff, in the shelters, the shinobi of the three great ninja villages—who had already slaughtered nearly all of Konoha's clanspeople—stared in terror at the Susanoo looming beyond the wall, frozen in fear, not daring to move recklessly.
Boom—
The dark-red Complete Susanoo suddenly ceased its slashes. The Zero-Tails beneath its feet had already been reduced to countless fragments.
Uchiha Yu judged that the time was right.
Once more, the blazing blade of the Complete Susanoo was thrust into the Zero-Tails' mask. Its already shredded serpent's head was sliced clean in two again.
Yu's pupils flared with crimson light as Yasakani Magatama activated. Yin chakra surged through the blade into the Zero-Tails' mind, washing over it like a tide.
After ravaging its body, he now sought to seize its spirit.
This was the fundamental method when facing tailed beasts—or any being of immense mental strength—using Yasakani Magatama.
The next instant…
Yu's pupils contracted sharply, the red glow extinguished, his body froze, and his consciousness plummeted into an abyss.
In that fleeting moment, his spirit was swallowed by an ocean of negative emotions.
The Yin chakra of Yasakani Magatama was sinister by nature, and upon entering the Zero-Tails' mind, it clashed with another chakra even darker and more malevolent.
The original description of Yasakani Magatama was: "As long as the target bears the mark, the user can control their spirit and chakra through the connection."
But Yu had used this ocular technique long enough to understand that descriptions were only surface-level.
When he wielded it, it had its own internal logic and operational patterns.
From this, Uchiha Yu had derived much experience.
From the moment Yu had mastered Yasakani Magatama, the enemies he controlled—no matter how powerful—usually had singular, simple emotions.
Thus, marking them was relatively easy.
But the 'Zero-Tails' was different. Born from the darkness of human emotions, its spirit was vast, composed entirely of negativity.
When Yu's chakra entered its body, he could just about suppress one emotion, such as depression—
Only for it to be immediately overwhelmed by despair, madness… and countless other dark waves.
This was the second type of scenario, and it was exceedingly troublesome.
