Chapter 158 - Chapter 158: New Witch Shopper

[3rd POV]

The new day of work has been pretty slow so far. Death hadn't returned yet, which Wanda wasn't really expecting her to. She had a feeling that the embodiment of death was out doing something important. Probably having to do with the date or something else, like her job (sort of job).

She was really really curious to see what Death had planned, as it would take a lot to make Wanda surprised. She had seen and done just about anything you can imagine, so the only way she was going to get blind sided was if it was something huge.

She hoped it was. As it would be fun to be surprised by something for once. The only time she had truly been shocked by anything was when she had seen her counterpart enter her shop, that and when Pietro had first visited all that time ago.

Death would have to try pretty damn hard to shock her though, so she was interested to see how it would go.

Sitting behind her counter, Wanda sipped on her morning coffee, reading through another of the books that she had gotten from the Dragon Ball world. It was one of the most advanced books out of the selection that she had gotten from them, and was pretty interesting.

It was detailing the makeup and history of Ki itself, and how it worked, as well as why it worked in the first place. And from what she could tell, the book itself had been made by an ancient species that was incredibly adept at controlling and understanding life and ki.

A very curious thing.

As she sat, reading her book, Wanda hummed. She found that the book was pretty complicated, and a vast majority of the words had been in an entirely unknown language to her. It was curious to see that, as there were very few languages she had never seen before.

But the language that this particular book was in was pretty interesting. It was a language that didn't seem to have an actual spoken language. In actuality, it was a sort of "Imprint" of ki on the very page in front of her.

It was like she had to read the ki to understand the text. Very interesting, and even more complicated in nature. It just showed how incredible the species had been before they had been driven to extinction.

Wanda was curious how that happened, but she had a feeling that the simplest answer was the right one. Aka Zeno had wiped them from existence, probably because of how incredibly dangerous their knowledge and power could become if a species like the Saiyans had learned it.

They would have been next to unstoppable.

And if they had interbred? If hybrids of the two species had been born? That would have been the true threat to him and his power. The power of a saiyan and their ability to grow and evolve, alongside the power to control ki to a level completely beyond any other current species.

That was a scary thought.

So him killing them made a lot of sense considering his position. But Wanda had to admit that she was a bit disappointed that she could not learn more from such an incredible species. The species that had been known as "The Kidans".

While reading her book, Wanda heard the door to her shop ding, as she glanced up, only to stop as her eyebrow shot up.

Standing there was a short girl, seeming a young teenager. She was glancing around in silent confusion, her face barely hiding the awe that she was feeling. She had pointed ears, and hair that was obviously dyed a green color.

This was Amity Blight.

"W-What is this place?" Amity whispered to herself, realizing that it was a bookstore, that much was clear. But it was huge! Not only that, but the inside was impossible. The door she had seen was just a red door that led seemingly nowhere, and was sitting in the middle of nowhere.

It wasn't possible for this place to exist, even by the standards of magic. Magic could do a lot of things, creating elements, warping the surroundings, and healing wounds. But creating a space this large? That was impossible.

"It's my bookstore, Miss Blight" Wanda's voice echoed, as Amity jumped in fright, turning to the woman that was standing there with an amused expression on her face.

"Who are you?" Amity asked, as she began to walk towards Wanda, fighting the embarrassed flush from forming on her face (and ears).

"I'm Wanda Maximoff, the owner of this bookstore" Wanda replied calmly, letting the girl look around as Wanda instead looked her over, her face not showing her inward reactions.

And those reactions were...different.

'...Seems it's one of those universes. How...infuriating' Wanda thought, as she sensed some of the things that made Amity a bit different.

Those "Things" were past signs of abuse.

'Seems Odelia Blight is going to need a visit sooner or later' Wanda thought, inwardly already thinking of all sorts of curses she can place on her. She hated child abusers more than just about anything in the world, and there were very very few things that compared.

And Amity Blight was getting abused.

She wondered if Amity's father knew about it, but she had a feeling he did. And the siblings...well, she remembered the show and how they came off.

They tended to seem more like bullies than siblings to her. In the show she knew that they still loved her, and she loved them. But from what she could tell, this was one of those universes where Amity was heavily abused by her mother and likely bullied by her siblings.

Not her favorite type of universe.

She wondered what Luz was like, but she had a feeling that the girl was going to be a ball of sunshine just like she was in canon. Her power over possibility and probability telling her that much.

"How did you know my name?" Amity asked, shaking off her shock.

"I know the names of anyone that enters my shop the second they do, Miss Blight. Think of it as a sort of...inscription upon the door you opened. Once you walk through, I know about your name, and your taste in books. Like how you are a fan of abomination magic, and are quite fond of picture books" Wanda responded with a warm smile on her face.

It was the truth, as the door did indeed have this on it.

"But don't worry, it does not show me anything beyond that. I believe in the right to privacy after all" Wanda added, stopping the girl from freaking out.

"How did you make this place? No magic that I know can do anything like...this" Amity asked, motioning to the rest of the room that in her eyes, was completely and utterly impossible. It didn't make any sense with what she knew about magic.

"No magic that you know of, Miss Blight. But you will find that this shop sells many types of books inside, including ones that detail magics that you cannot even begin to understand. All it takes is to explore and find them" Wanda responded with an amused expression on her face.

Her awe was quite amusing to Wanda, as the girl was barely able to hide her awe at the sheer impossibility of the place. She could see the long lines of bookshelves, with all sorts of categories being clearly explained on the shelves themselves.

Glancing over at them, Amity noticed that there were shelves with the words "Ward Magic" "Song Magic" "Enchantment" "Engineering Magic" and at least a dozen more. She couldn't see them all, so Amity realized that there was a lot of magics here.

"How can you sell those here? It's against-" "The law of that little Emperor, right? Well those laws do not apply here or to me, Amity. For this place is technically not in the Boiling Isles. You can think of that door as a sort of...portal, that leads to an entirely new space, which is this bookstore. And this bookstore is a simple...dimension of sorts, bigger on the inside than on the outside, and therefore, is out of the control of Emperor Belos" Wanda cut her off, not concerned for the weak little man that seemed to think he controlled the world.

He was nothing more than a worm in her eyes. There could be a billion of him all coming at her at the same time, and she'd still just think them out of existence. There was not a single being in the Owl House universe that compared to her.

Now if this was one of those "Crossover" worlds, then Bill Cipher would be more interesting. But she wasn't sure if it was. And if it was, then that meant she might see characters from Gravity Falls and Amphibia walk in too.

Now that would be interesting to see.

"Now, do you have any more questions, or are you going to start looking around?" Wanda asked, as the teen looked at her and then around the shop, before shaking her head.

"I have no more questions, Miss Maximoff" Amity said, as Wanda smiled and responded simply.

"Great...then get exploring!"

Hearing her, Amity nodded before walking off, ready to explore the unique bookstore that was for all intents and purposes, completely...

Impossible.
