Chapter 2 - Chapter 1

Chapter 1

Everything went black no light, dreams or sense of time, just nothing. Until warmth suddenly enveloped me I couldn't understand it. There was no pain, no fear, just warmth surrounding me.

Suddenly I could hear voices muffled in the distance. I tried to move but I couldn't because my body felt so heavy.

Then suddenly light I opened my eyes and everything was blurry. I heard a baby crying a loud, healthy cry.

Then another voice, a woman who sounded exhausted, relieved and happy.

"He's here."

The woman began to cry.

"They're both here."

I couldn't understand what she meant. Both? Where was here who was I?

A doctor carefully lifted me. I felt the cold air against my tiny body. Instinctively I began to cry.

The woman reached for me and by the looks of it my brother?

"Give them to me. "She Said

She held me against her chest. Her warmth was the first thing I truly understood. She was my mother. She was safe or rather. I was safe with her. My tears began to die down thanks to her.

The woman looked down at me and my brother.

"Hello, little one's."

A man stood beside her. He looked exhausted, but there was an enormous smile on his face.

Mark. She said " look how cute these two are."

He felt familiar. He reached down to grab me from my mothers arm.

"Marie, don't strain yourself too much," he said as he held on to me.

The man looked toward the other baby. Marie was holding him from the bed.

Another little boy. I stared at him from the arms of my dad Mark. The baby was crying just as loudly as I once was.

Mark smiled.

"We have two sons."

Marie looked down towards the other baby.

"Garfield Mark Logan." she said, "Then she looked down at me. "And James Howlett Logan."

James

I guess this is my name. From now on I stared at my tiny hands. My mind completely blank.

I began crying again. Not knowing why, I felt like there was something missing.

Mark swapped sons with Marie as she held me closer.

"Shh..." She kissed my forehead. "You're okay."

Mark placed one finger against James's tiny hand as he was holding Gar with the other.

I instinctively grabbed it.

Mark laughed softly. "He's got a strong grip."

Marie smiled. "So does his brother."

The two babies were placed beside each other.

Garfield was still crying.

James slowly stopped.

For a moment, the twins simply stared at one another. They couldn't speak or walk. But somehow, they were already connected.

Twins born only minutes apart.

Garfield was the older twin James was the younger.

Neither Mark nor Marie could have imagined how the bond they shared may change. ( a/n idk sounds kinda sus in my head)

They had no idea that James had once lived another life.

They didn't know about the scientist they didn't know about the laboratory. They didn't know about the experiment that had ended in an explosion.

And they certainly didn't know that their newborn son had somehow been given a second life. Hell neither did James.

James was simply their baby boy, their youngest son. Garfield's little brother. What none could see deep inside James's developing mind, something remained.

A lock that was waiting for a key that would cause something no one could have predicted.

His second life has just begun. He had a new family and a world with many dangers to come.

For now, though, they were simply babies. Two brothers. One family. And the beginning of a story that would change everything forever.

— T.S 1-2 years later —

I once again awoke to the sounds of crying and my mother carrying Gar. I never realized how beautiful our mom looked. She was a Caucasian female with red hair, blue eyes and freckles. Her hair was kept back in a short ponytail.

Flanking her was my dad who soon saw me awake and grabbed me from our shared crib. He was handsome as some would say in a scientist way. He was a white male with blonde hair, blue eyes with goggles hanging around his neck. His hair was kept in a messy left over with strands stinking out all over.

Both were still in their work clothes mom had on a blue V-neck scrub top and cargo pants along with standard rubber clogs.

While my dad typically stayed inside wearing a white lab coat, brown khaki pants with a blue button up shirt and brown shoes.

Our dad was busy for most of the time, rarely coming out of his lab. I yet to understand what they both do. He was so focused on it guiding my curiosity to uncover what it was.

Mark and Marie loved their sons which is true but it seems their work life was their main focus.

By the time me and Gar learned to walk I finally got to see my parents work first hand. It seems as if my father is a biologist and mom a medical doctor.

They indeed knew a lot about their respective fields, but their interests went far beyond that, and even their research was only incidentally related to their primary line of work.

Their professional one made progress, and by uniting their expertise they came up with quite an unusual research: they wanted to synthesize a serum able to reverse the evolutionary progress of living beings, in order to "resurrect" extinct species.

They somehow found funds, and soon the Logan family was headed to Lumumba, Africa.

This caused us to move from our home in New York to an animal sanctuary in Lumumba, Africa.

I was once again sitting in on my dad's research when Gar came in. He was very curious and knocked over a bottle causing a cloud of purple smoke to appear on impact.

When it came to his work dad was rough on Gar after seeing him break something he was working on" Marie! Get this child out of here! He just ruined a week's work". He said leading to Gar being banned from the lab

I still don't understand why my dad's research resonated with me so much. Seeing him isolating the genetic code of humans and animals trying to turn back the time of extinction.

It's almost like there was a pull guiding me to continue watching him work. To see if it was possible for him to accomplish his goal. Never fully understanding what drove me to watch.

"At last" my father said " I've done it, I turned back the clock of evolution. In his hand was a syringe that would forever change both me and Gar.
