Chapter 56: Hueco Mundo I

...........

The stronger Kurayami, the louder the voices. They were becoming too annoying, especially after the last meeting with Tokinada.

They were now constantly sending him warnings, as if cautious of the darkness within Tokinada.

He understands why. Tokinada is indeed planning something. He knows because of his two lovely horrors, The Night Hag and Bloody Mary.

They were attached to him like a curse, and it seems that he hasn't noticed anything yet.

The two horrors aren't omnipotent. In fact, the first thing he did after their creation was experiment on them with Aizen, and the latter detected them right away despite being in their dream state.

Tokinada hasn't, and Akashi wasn't planning on staying in Seireitei for long.

The nobles have too much power here, so he knows he must leave while the two horrors do their thing, and he happens to have a place he wants to visit.

To Hueco Mundo.

Elsewhere in the Seireitei, inside a towering manor marked with golden accents and crested banners, Tokinada Tsunayashiro stood before a wide map of Soul Society.

The room was quiet except for the scratching of a brush against parchment.

"The southern district," One of his subordinates said, bowing, "A noble retainer lives there. A lowly family which has marriage with another noble family."

"A decent family?"

"Yes. We can fabricate the evidence. Trace hollow residue to him; plant his unique Reiatsu signature in the vicinity."

"We can also frame it as a forbidden experiment. Perhaps claim he lured hollows to study them."

Tokinada remained silent for a long moment.

"No," He said finally, "We don't need to go so far as to set up a clown show. The trial will be one-sided no matter what, enough to demand his imprisonment... or execution."

Tokinada's face adorned a truly psychotic grin. It was eerie to such a degree that it weirded out his subordinate, someone used to the evil nature of his master.

Tokinada seemed more unstable than usual.

That was proven by his instruction, "Have the retainer killed, all of them, the children too. I'll talk to the noble family and have them testify it's done by Akashi."

He stroked his chin a while, then continued, "His Zanpakuto ability is somewhat known, but spread the word nonetheless. The horrific creatures he summons should be proof enough, but exaggerate."

"Say that his Zanpakuto grows by doing evil. Say that there have been many deaths of children in Rukongai, and raise suspicion against him. Bring up his stories too."

"Yes, my lord."

"Oh, Akashi, you're so easy to frame... So fun, hahahaha," He watched his subordinate leave while laughing maniacally.

Upon being left alone, he stared out the window, jaw clenched. The boy had humiliated his forces. He dared fight back instead of surrendering himself like a lamb for slaughter.

And worse; he didn't flinch. Not when threatened. Not when watched. He carried no fear. He didn't feel despair when facing him... That's blasphemy.

"I... I even have nightmares about him, nightmares about a damn insect!!!" Tokinada's face twisted and crunched up, hatred clear in his eyes.

Indeed, the nightmares have already started. He started seeing Akashi everywhere, nightmares of his previous meeting with him, nightmares of Akashi laughing in his face.

He'd had nightmares of his garbage of a family laughing at him for failing to bring down an insect, becoming the laughing stock of Seireitei.

Oh, how he wants to just destroy everything.

Akashi has to die. He has to die. He has to die! He has to die! He has to die! He has to die! He has to die! He has to die!!

That's how Tokinada is, and Akashi realized it in his second meeting. Tokinada's darkness is the strangest he'd seen so far, and the clearest.

The vaster one's darkness is, the clearer it would appear in Akashi's eyes, and Tokinada's was as vast as the ocean.

Tokinada's darkness was what appeared to be a decayed peacock with a human face.

Peacocks generally symbolize nobility and pride, but the rotting, skeletal appearance with tattered feathers instead represents the decay beneath the glamorous facade.

Its eyes were hollow, its human face oozing darkness. Its tail was spread wide, but instead of beautiful patterns, it revealed grotesque, screaming faces of the tormented.

Tokinada is sadistic, and his greatest joy is watching people fall into soul-crushing despair.

It all seemingly came after learning about the "Original Sin" of Soul Society, Tokinada adopted a nihilistic worldview.

He believed that there is no excuse for anyone not to act with complete malice in their meaningless world.

He'd do anything for his own amusement, which often comes from the despair of others. He's evil for the sake of evil.

That's why, "No no no no, death is too easy for him... How do I make him suffer more?" Tokinada bit his fingernails with such force that he ripped one out.

"The people he cares about... Who does he spend the most time with? Aizen... Tch. Unohana... No. Right, Rangiku... S-She's the weakness," Tokinada laughed wildly.

"I can send him to the Nest of Maggots. I can rip her limbs out, and send them to him one by one in the form of food... Hahahahahaha."

Akashi has underestimated the strength of Tokinada's psyche. He was much too fragile when things didn't go according to his own thoughts.

He can not target Aizen, nor can he target Unohana, but Rangiku. She was the easy mark he could use to torture Akashi.

Unfortunately for him, Tokinada was lacking critical information that Akashi does not lack... Ichimaru Gin.

He joined Aizen for her, and at the same time, he kept a distance from her because of Aizen.

Gin's obsession with Rangiku is truly the only thing longer than his zanpakutō, And that shit extends.

Therefore, targeting Rangiku was bound to be a mistake, especially with Gin being the snake that he is.

Back in the fifth Division, Akashi had cleaned up and redressed, his movements smooth despite the chaos in his mind.

He stood before Aizen, curiously looking at a few papers in his hand.

"Have you learned Bankai?" Some time passed before Aizen asked, without looking at him.

Akashi chuckled.

"Even if I had, would it matter?" He said, leaning against the frame of the door, "My spiritual power is barely seated-officer level. Maintaining Bankai requires a sustained flow of Reiatsu. I'd burn out after seconds."

Aizen raised his head, finally looking at him with interest. That wasn't a no, "I will make you my Lieutenant soon, so be ready."

"Don't, not yet," Akashi shook his head, "Speaking of which, that's kind of why I am here. I want to go to Hueco Mundo. Would you be able to arrange an accident that leads me there?"

"How long do you want to stay?" Aizen asked in return.

"Two years minimum," Akashi's mind was already set for it was something he's been wanting to do for a long while, "It should preferably happen in a way that when I go back, I can resume activities here without trouble."

"Good," Aizen nodded, turning his attention back to the work on his desk, "Look at the papers in your hands again. There are a few assignments there for you to complete."

Indeed, Akashi looked, finding the writings within to be completely different.

His mouth twitched. Kyoka Suigetsu? He had to wonder. No, it has to be... What a convenient ability, Akashi mused.

The missions varied, from simple specimen collection to locating special Menos grade hollows, some interesting Adjuchas, but most importantly, Vasto Lordes.

They are the third classification of Menos and the highest level of evolution, creatures far above his level, and Heuco Mundo is vast... The task was bound to take a while.
