Chapter 34 - Tournament 3

Third day of the tournament, it was the day of the battle competition. There were too many contestants, 3220 to be exact. The idea was to have a battle royal.

They were divided into 4 stages with 805 contestants each. To make sure the most noticeable characters don't face each other too early they put them into different stages.

Four circular rings were placed in the Colosseum each 300 metres In diameter. People like Melissa, Balga and Annie were placed into different rings.

A battle royal means people can group together to eliminate the strong so to deal with that problem a rule that state an eliminated contestant can have a single chance to challenge someone and replace them.

The announcer, a girl named Allis was talking to a microphone with enthusiasm, her voice echoing across the entire Colosseum. The battle was about to start.

Fabro was really excited about this, the contestants had to eliminate each other until only a hundred are left on each stage. Then those hundred will have one on one battles until a champion is left on each stage.

Then the four champions will compete. Each contestant have the right to challenge one person on their own stage and one in another stage so they technically have two chances.

The stages were labelled 1 to 4, with the one Annie is in being 1, Balgas being 2 and Melissas being 4, the other stage, stage 3 had a few notable characters as well.

ARE YOU READY? YEAHHHHHH. GOOOOOO!. shouted Allis as the crowd went with her. The battles on the four stages began.

The village hunters had about 800 acolytes, all participating, the initiates realm awakened tried to avoid them like plague to no avail. It was as if the acolytes had decided to eliminate the weaker ones first.

Seeing the situation was dire, the initiate banded together, they vastly outnumbered them after all but nothing changed, the difference was too vast.

The acolytes could move so fast the initiates barely followed them with their eyes, they could brush their magic smells like it was nothing and their magic could take out tens of them at the same time.

Medics with cases of healing potions plus their own healing magic were waiting close by so nobody died, well the rules did forbid killing or crippling your opponents and the acolytes were holding back.

On each of the stage there were a few people who were relaxed, they did not even participate In the purge. On Melissas stage there was a guy with a spear watching her.

She was looking at him with a small soft smile, unbothered by his intense challenging gaze. There were a few people eyeing Annie as well and Balga was sitting down, his flesh shaking.

He looked like a heavy mountain of flesh sitting there with his giant round shield besides him. None of the hunters had attacked him yet but they were watching him.

They watched as the others eliminated each other until only around 200 were left in each ring. All of of them were acolytes. On the third ring, a girl dressed like a kunoichi and a guy with twins swords were eyeing each other.

They nodded then moved, both were fast, lightning flickering off the girl and the guy was like a tornado of swords, his twin blades shining with a soft silver glow.

Is that sword will? Wondered Fabro. They didn't attack each other though as one would expect, they attacked the rest, the two of them knew they were the strongest there and so did the others.

It was without a doubt that they would be the first to be targeted. The other contestants moved. Whispers of chants were heard and magic circles appeared. Spells and techniques flew towards them.

They manoeuvred around the assaults, taking their opponents one by one. On Annies side, she was the main targets. There were a few strong people like Nass, a wooden mage woman and Victor a brawler.

Even the two of them decided to gang up on her, she was in a pinch but with so many people to use as cover it was not as bad. She was fast, faster than all of them.

Wind flowed around her, boosting her movements and her arrows never missed but she still could not take down those two. All three of them were at the peak of acolyte realm after all, they were not easy targets.

Victors punches were strong, giant gold fists made of metal mana imbued with fist will flew towards her everytime he punched the air. Vines grew from the ground to tangle her.

There was another troublesome guy, he nor was particularly strong but his attacks were insidious. He was an assasing and would disappear everytime she tried to attack him only to appear when she was under attack from the others to take advantage.

Good thing they have been accidentally taking each other out everytime she dodged. There were a few others, mages, swordsmen, spearmen and more who were very strong.

They were not at the level of these two but their attacks made her cautious, only around 140 were left on the ring, just a few more people to eliminate and then she'll quality for the one on one battles.

She jumped into the air, pulled her bow but did not put any arrow, an arrow made of wind appeared, she released it. It flew towards one of the contestants.

He was able to jump and move out of the way, he smile but when the arrow hit the stage, that smile disappeared. Boom, she whispered and a tornado filled the entire ring.

It was strange, the tornado only eliminated an exact number required. Only 100 were left on the ring and they were the strongest 100 there.

Bravo lady Annie, Bravo, said the brawler Victor. He usually hunted with Annie so he knew how powerful she was, that why he suggested they gang up on her or they'll never be able to win one on one against her.

I know this was your idea Vic and we'll discuss it further when the tournament is over, she said with a smile. Victor shivered. You must be joking captain, this was not my idea, it was hers, I just went along with it, he said pointing at Nass, while rubbing the back of his heard.

Hoh, is that so? I swear lady Annie, he is lying, I would never do something like that, said Nass with panic but Annie could tell it was fake, she was just joking with her. These kids need a spanking, she thought, forgetting they were older than her.
