Her own student liking someone else's Summoning Beast? This greatly displeased Tsunade. While frogs certainly lacked offensive capabilities, being primarily focused on support and having limited attack methods, they couldn't compare to Orochimaru's Manda or Jiraiya's Gamabunta.
But they weren't that bad either, were they?
Compared to support and healing functions, what Summoning Beast could possibly compete with a frog?
"If the frog wasn't a support type, I would have chosen it. Too bad it is."
Ignoring Tsunade's displeasure, Rong Lin shrugged, then replied lazily:
"I didn't expect there to be such a fierce fellow besides Manda. My luck isn't bad either, though it seems I pulled a fast one on Snake Uncle."
"Manda is indeed fierce."
Tsunade shot Rong Lin an exasperated look, then sat directly beside him, pushing him to the side. She poured herself some tea and took a sip.
"Among the Sannin, when it comes to the offensive capabilities of Summoning Beasts, Manda definitely ranks first. Even Jiraiya's Gamabunta can't compare. Tell me about the whole process."
Tsunade hadn't actually come because Rong Lin had gone to Orochimaru for a Summoning Beast. Rather, she was worried Rong Lin might get taken advantage of.
So violent, be careful not to explode!
Rong Lin muttered under his breath, then moved to the side, yielding his seat to Tsunade. He began to recount the events slowly and in detail, including the specifics of the battle.
Tsunade propped her chin on her hand, her eyebrows slightly raised in surprise. "I never expected there to be such a ferocious giant snake like Manda. Good thing you're not like Orochimaru; otherwise, commanding that Black Scale Snake wouldn't be easy. It seems this Black Scale Snake has some direct connection to Orochimaru's Manda."
"Pretty much!"
Rong Lin pondered for a moment before replying, "It's because Snake Uncle helped, and Manda was there, plus the Black Scale Snake's appearance is very similar to Manda's. After it was summoned, it kept mocking Manda and even recognized Snake Uncle. I'm certain Snake Uncle has never seen it before, so it must have known through Manda."
"Who cares about the connection? It's enough that I got a decent Summoning Beast."
Rong Lin briefly wondered if Black Scale Snake had any blood relation to Manda, but then dismissed the thought.
Whether it had a strong connection to him didn't matter. The fact that he had obtained a good Summoning Beast was enough.
"You're right."
Tsunade nodded, put her hand down, and said seriously, "Let's put the Summoning Beast matter aside for now. I hear you're returning to the Uchiha clan?"
"News travels fast. I haven't even given a direct answer, and you already know?"
Rong Lin looked at Tsunade in surprise.
"Since you've made your choice, I won't say more. Just remember what you said."
Tsunade wasn't making things difficult for Rong Lin. For her, as long as Rong Lin had thought it through, it was fine.
In fact, Rong Lin returning to the Uchiha clan had many benefits. Tsunade, thinking of his well-being, naturally wouldn't object. The only troublesome thing was that Rong Lin would face some difficult choices in the future.
"I'll never forget it. After all, there are many things I need from the Uchiha clan after its destruction!"
Rong Lin chuckled, not worried that Tsunade would stop him. If she did, she wouldn't be Tsunade.
"Including women?" Tsunade grunted, giving him an exasperated sideways glance.
"Cough, cough—"
Rong Lin spat out the tea he was drinking, choking badly. He had just taken a sip when it went down the wrong pipe.
"Cough, cough!!"
Rong Lin coughed twice, his neck turning red. He fumed, "Who told you such nonsense? What women?!"
"Oh?"
Tsunade looked at Rong Lin with amusement, scrutinizing him as if seeing him for the first time. She teased, "Then how did I hear you're interested in the Second Elder of the Uchiha clan's little daughter?"
Uchiha Diqin? A good child, talented indeed, but the Uchiha clan's issues were truly strange.
Tsunade was referring to the patriarchal system.
"..."
Rong Lin rolled his eyes, too lazy to explain. If that girl hadn't been constantly against him, he wouldn't have deliberately teased her.
But how did this news get out? Could it be the Uchiha clan themselves?
It was indeed possible they were the source, as this would essentially solidify the fact of his return to the Uchiha clan.
Unless he jumped out to refute it now, but would Rong Lin do that? Clearly not.
"Oh, right, one more thing. The Third Old Man might directly promote you to a Special Jonin. You need to be prepared; you'll be directly under the Anbu Black Ops."
Finally, Tsunade stood up and left, not forgetting to throw a bombshell at Rong Lin.
Rong Lin was stunned. Watching Tsunade walk away in high heels, her figure swaying gracefully, he pinched his chin in thought. "Special Jonin? The Third Hokage is really generous. This is just the end of the Chunin Exams, and it's a Special Jonin? Am I that special?"
"New teammates, and I don't even know who they are or what their pairings will be. At least I'll be able to execute some normal missions."
Thinking of the D-rank and C-rank missions he would undertake under Tsunade's lead after graduation, Rong Lin was speechless. Tsunade took on all sorts of missions, even those meant for Tsunade's squad's growth.
"So, the talks went well, and Uchiha Rong Lin has agreed to return to the Uchiha clan?"
Inside the Hokage Office, the Third Hokage listened to the intelligence gathered by the Anbu ninjas.
"Yes, Hokage-sama. However, whether the conditions are genuine is unknown. I believe the Uchiha clan's character wouldn't allow them to be so humble, nor would they use people as bargaining chips.
Uchiha Rong Lin also doesn't have that qualification. I think the rumors started after the news spread. I heard Uchiha Diqin was also there that day, and there was some unpleasantness between her and Uchiha Rong Lin."
"Huff~~~"
Taking a deep drag from his pipe, the Third Hokage spoke after a long pause, "You may go. Notify Minato to come here; tell him it's about a new team member."
"Yes."
The Anbu ninja left the office. The Third Hokage closed the file and looked at the Uchiha clan's compound, lost in thought.
"Hokage-sama, you're looking for me?"
Compared to Rong Lin, Minato Namikaze was like a good child; whatever he was told, he accepted without resistance, diligently carrying out every order. It was no wonder the Third Hokage held him in such high regard.
In contrast, Rong Lin had too many unstable factors.
"Your squad lost a member in the last mission. This time, one will be supplemented. This is the information. As a captain, you need to understand everything about your team members beforehand. This is classified information."
