From the very beginning of this war, lives had been falling every moment—on both sides. It wasn't just the Eternal side that suffered; the Eternal Night forces also paid a steep price. The overwhelming tide of Eternal Night armies tore through the battlefield, and many warriors stationed in war cities, unable to match the sheer force, met tragic ends. Back and forth across the walls, the struggle turned these cities into meat grinders, devouring countless lives.
The great battle stretched on—unnoticed, it lasted an entire night.
As dawn approached, the countless beams of starlight across the heavens faded simultaneously. However, the Eternal Night legions deployed onto the battlefield did not vanish. They remained entrenched across the warfront, not assaulting the war cities directly, but rather occupying vast regions surrounding them.
These areas beyond the cities were far broader in scope.
All kinds of Eternal Night fiends swarmed the battlefield. Hulking giants rampaged, chaotic soldiers ravaged freely. In addition to the insectoid armies, the Eternal Night legions now included an array of other dark races, the most numerous of which were the Eternal Night Slave Soldiers—
Eternal Night Slave Soldiers: Born from the boundless forces of desire in the world, shaped by Eternal Night's twisted means into mindless war machines. Bereft of intellect and emotion, driven by pure, soul-deep bloodlust, they were the Eternal Night's cannon fodder and shock troops. During the first battles, they were the main force encountered.
Even as cannon fodder, they placed immense pressure on the battlefield.
But now, the Eternal Night had sent more than just slaves—true legions from their own world had arrived. Within a single night, the God-Demon Battlefield had shifted into a bizarre stalemate:
Within the war cities, the Eternal races held dominion.
Outside the cities, it was Eternal Night's realm.
A sharp, unmistakable line had formed. Should it ever be crossed, another brutal war would erupt.
Naturally, wandering beyond the safety of the cities meant near-certain death.
"Husband, what do you plan next?"Gongsun Daniu appeared at Yi Tianxing's side and asked softly.
Daylight brought a lull to the front. The Eternal Night army, which had fiercely assaulted White Crow City, had now withdrawn, taking positions across the battlefield instead. As long as no one provoked them, they would not initiate another attack—though, anyone foolish enough to enter their territory would be slaughtered without mercy.
"There is no such thing as stability on the battlefield. If one seeks peace, one should never step onto this killing ground," Yi Tianxing replied, his gaze sharp. "To merely defend is to admit weakness. If we were strong enough, we would not need to defend at all. Last night was only an appetizer. To truly achieve victory, we must not cower behind walls. Others may not dare, but Da Yi dares. Others may be unable, but Da Yi is capable."
The previous night had seen Da Yi's defenses hold flawlessly. Not a single soldier in White Crow City had fallen—only a large number of rune bombs and crossbow bolts were spent. The Eternal Night armies never even got close before being obliterated.
Such results spoke volumes about Da Yi's strength.
"Your Majesty is right," Zhuge Liang nodded, his feather fan gently swaying. "The Eternal Night troops are living beings. Kill one, and that's one fewer. If we fail to kill them, they only increase in number. The more we slay, the more merit we earn. But rushing out to meet them head-on is too risky. It would be best if we could reduce those risks."
Yi Tianxing turned to him. "Does Mister Zhuge have a plan?"
"We control White Crow City's movement through the void," Zhuge Liang said. "That alone grants us the initiative. There is no need to engage directly. We can strike from above."
"We drop Yin-Yang Annihilation Bombs—
Yin-Yang Annihilation Bomb: A weapon so potent it can obliterate even Law Manifestation Realm beings, and severely damage Nascent Soul cultivators. In large quantities, their explosive power is overwhelming. Drop them and move on—no need to witness the aftermath. Deaths will count toward military merit."
"And not only that—we also have Heavenly Poison Bombs, developed by the Heavenly Works Pavilion."Heavenly Poison Bomb: Crafted by fusing various supreme poisons into one, these bombs unleash deadly toxins upon detonation. Entire regions become lethal zones. The poison is so strong it's said to kill on inhalation alone.
From the sky, these are devastating weapons.
They had brought large quantities of both bomb types for this very purpose—to catch Eternal Night off guard and deal devastating blows.
"Excellent," Yi Tianxing nodded decisively. "Issue the order: White Crow City is to fly over Eternal Night strongholds. When clusters of their armies are spotted, drop Yin-Yang Annihilation Bombs. If they're biological units, use the poison bombs. Spare no effort—kill as many as possible."
This strategy avoided the dangers of direct confrontation while delivering lethal damage from above. Perfect.
"I like this plan!" Lian Xing beamed, her eyes twinkling. "Why should we always be the ones defending? Let them have a taste of our might!"
"Also," Yi Tianxing added, "if you see any human troops among the Eternal Night slave ranks—do not kill them. Capture them. These are once-human soldiers, now consumed by slaughter. But in our hands, they may become Da Yi's new strength."
Human slave soldiers were invaluable. With enough numbers, Da Yi could sustain a protracted war—ten years, a hundred years, even a thousand—so long as reinforcements flowed.
Zhuge Liang nodded with a smile. "Rest assured, Your Majesty. If we spot any, we'll suppress and redeem them."
Soon, White Crow City—perched atop the enormous Raven of Darkness—soared through the skies once more. It conjured clouds to obscure itself, blending into the heavens as a massive floating storm.
The Eternal Night armies below paid no heed. Without commands, their slaughter instincts had dimmed, and they returned to silence.
Then—black, round spheres began to fall from the clouds.
At first glance, they looked harmless. Like black hailstones raining from the sky.
Some intelligent Eternal Night officers—hidden among the mindless slave ranks—noticed.
"Huh? What are those little black things falling down?" a Night Demon Knight muttered, staring upward with glowing eyes. He sensed no danger from them.
"Don't drop your guard. The Eternal side brought some serious forces this time," a black-furred werewolf howled. Still, even he felt no real threat—only curiosity.
They had no idea…
These unremarkable little spheres were hurtling toward a dense cluster of hundreds of thousands of Eternal Night soldiers.
