Chapter 1687 - Chapter 1669: Buzhou Mountain

Eternal World – Primordial Continent.

At the heart of the Primordial Continent, there stood a divine and majestic mountain: Buzhou Mountain (不周山).

According to legend, it was formed from the spine of Pangu, after he exhausted his strength to separate heaven and earth and perished.

Following the fusion of all worlds, Buzhou Mountain emerged on the Primordial Continent—still standing tall, undamaged, unshaken. It continued to hold up the heavens and support the earth.

One could gaze upon it endlessly and still fail to see its summit. It reached to the very heavens, serving as a cosmic pillar between sky and earth.

Buzhou Mountain is mentioned in countless ancient records:

Classic of Mountains and Seas: Western Mountains:

"Three hundred and seventy li to the northwest lies Mount Buzhou."Guo Pu's note:"Its shape is incomplete; thus the name 'Buzhou' (meaning 'not whole')."

Classic of the Great Wilderness, Western Canon:

"To the northwest of the great wilderness lies an incomplete mountain, called Buzhou."

Huainanzi – Astronomy Chapter:

"In ancient times, Gong Gong fought with Zhuanxu for the throne and, in his rage, smashed into Buzhou Mountain. The heavenly pillar broke, the earth's axis shattered; heaven tilted northwest,so sun, moon, and stars shifted, and the earth sagged southeast—thus, floods and dust flowed that way."

Despite the many historical accounts, the most accepted origin is still that Buzhou Mountain was born from Pangu's body.

After the fusion of the myriad realms, Buzhou Mountain underwent tremendous changes.

It was never broken, unlike the old legends.

It continued expanding and transforming.

Its height and size became immeasurable, stretching into a realm of its own.

It contained endless spiritual energy, ancient waters and winds, and innumerable mystic realms and celestial treasures.

Every ancient tree within it,if placed outside, would be a supreme-grade spiritual tree, towering to block out the sun—primeval and wild.

In the eyes of cultivators, Buzhou Mountain represented more than just a landmark. It stood for:

The mountain of mystery – unknowable, immeasurable, unfathomable.

It was the Ancestor of All Mountains, unparalleled, divine.

Even the Kunlun Mountains could not compare.

Buzhou Mountain was the center of the Eternal World.

However, to live on Buzhou Mountain was no simple feat.

The entire mountain emitted an invisible pressure, both from its body and from the will of heaven and earth.

This pressure made flying impossible.

The higher one climbed, the stronger the force.

Climbing without sufficient strength could mean instant pulverization, serious injury, or death.

It was common for the unworthy to perish attempting it.

Moreover, Buzhou Mountain was home to countless ancient ferocious beasts and primordial creatures, each of which was born here—naturally strong, and capable of challenging gods themselves.

Thus, Buzhou Mountain was both dangerous and sacred.

Despite all that, its position in the Eternal World was unmatched. It was a sacred site, held in awe by all.

At this very moment…beneath Buzhou Mountain, countless powerful beings were gathered.

Looking closely—phoenixes circled the sky with resounding cries, true dragons roamed the clouds, and Qilin stomped the earth, their gaze proud and fierce.

It was the Three Great Beast Races:

Dragons, Phoenixes, and Qilin.

Each presence here was a top-tier powerhouse, with auras at the True Spirit Realm, Dao Platform Realm, and higher.

Among them stood:

Ao Sihai, Dragon Clan Chief – Golden Sun Dragon King

Huang Wutong, Phoenix Clan Chief – Nine-Life Immortal Phoenix

Qi Wujie, Qilin Clan Chief – Law-Breaking Qilin

All three emitted the aura of the Dao Proving Realm.

The Dao Proving Realm meant:

Eternal life as long as the Dao remained.Their Dao Fruits were fully matured, their Dao resonated across the cosmos. They stood among the absolute peak of all beings. Even those at the Hunyuan Realm (Eternal Dao Realm) could not easily slay them.

If these beings went to war, entire regions could be obliterated.

Yet today, the three seemed not to seek battle.

Each race occupied a section at the foot of the mountain.Within those sectors, a giant altar had been built by each.

The altars were crafted from an extraordinary material:Blood Soul Jade (血魂宝玉)—formed from limitless blood and souls, each piece requiring the death of billions of living beings.

This was one of the finest materials for soul-based treasures.

Under normal circumstances, even a fist-sized shard would trigger mass slaughter. And yet here, massive altars had been constructed.

Each altar stood nine zhang tall, shaped like a five-sided star. They were engraved with ancient divine runes, their aura deep and mysterious—seemingly able to connect to some unknown higher plane.

Each altar bore a long ceremonial banner:

the Soul-Summoning Banner (招魂幡)—capable of guiding and summoning wandering souls.

Around the altars, countless warriors of the Three Races gathered—their eyes filled with a burning fervor.

Ao Sihai stepped forward, looking at his rivals:

"Huang Wutong, Qi Wujie. Are you truly ready? If not, we may as well fight again.Though none of us can claim the title of Heaven's Chosen Ruler, this plan we made must not fail. The Dragon Clan has waited too long for this moment."

Huang Wutong responded resolutely:

"Rest assured. The Phoenix Clan has prepared. This was a plan we made together. So long as you don't falter, we will not fail."

Qi Wujie nodded:

"Yes.Since none of us can dominate heaven's fate alone,we must seek a path to transcendence.Any further battle would only deplete our races.Everything is ready. Let's begin."

"Very well. I shall begin," said Ao Sihai.

He stepped solemnly toward the Dragon Clan's altar. Each step radiated solemnity and power. All eyes turned toward him—full of devotion, even fanaticism.

Reaching the top,Ao Sihai raised his hand—a flash of light revealed a palm-sized dragon scale.

He released it.It floated atop the altar, exuding ancient might.Even a wisp of its aura could make one tremble.

At the same moment,Huang Wutong placed a seven-colored phoenix feather on her altar, and Qi Wujie placed a Qilin horn.

In that instant, countless gazes locked onto the three altars. Not just from the Three Races, but from all across the Eternal World.

Countless divine senses watched from the void.

At first, many believed this was where the Three Races would clash to determine the Heaven's True Heir.

But instead, they saw altars, not war banners.A puzzling sight—drawing global attention.

"What are they doing? This isn't war—it's a ritual."

"A ritual for whom? Pangu? Their ancestors?"

"This must be based on some ancient pact between them. But what is it?"

Countless powerhouses began to speculate.

Then, Ao Sihai raised his head to the heavens and called out:

"O Heavenly Dao!Today, I, Ao Sihai, Chief of the Dragon Clan, offer our Clan's Fate in sacrifice—That we may summon the River of Time, and open the Gate of Eras.If our wish is granted, the Dragon Clan vows to guard the Divine-Demon Battlefield forever.Even unto death—we shall not regret!"

Then Huang Wutong declared:

"O Heavenly Dao!I, Huang Wutong, Chief of the Phoenix Clan, offer our Clan's Fate in sacrifice—That we may summon the River of Time, and open the Gate of Eras.If granted, the Phoenix Clan will guard the battlefield eternally. We shall never regret!"

Qi Wujie followed immediately:

"O Heavenly Dao…The Qilin Clan shall guard the Divine-Demon Battlefield eternally.Even unto death—we shall not regret!"

"Clan Fate – Manifest!" the three chanted in unison.

In that moment—above each altar appeared a massive manifestation of their race:

A True Dragon,

An Immortal Phoenix,

A Mythic Qilin—each over one hundred thousand zhang in size, vast enough to blot out the sky.
