Chapter 47 - The Fall

Elena didn't spend more than thirty minutes at the police headquarters. The moment Clifford officially dropped all charges against her, the officers in charge quickly apologized, their faces stiff with guilt. Without much delay, she was free to go.

As she stepped out of the station's front entrance, a few persistent reporters who had waited outside all morning swarmed toward her.

"Mrs. Elena Moretti!" one of them called, shoving a mic forward. "Now that the truth is out, what's your next move?"

"Are you going to reclaim your position at the Moretti Foundation?" another asked.

Elena didn't say a word. Her face remained calm, unreadable. With her head held high, she walked past them as Victor's private security team formed a tight circle around her. They guided her toward the line of black SUVs parked out front.
