Chapter 14 - The Real Beginning

The student was frozen in fear, feeling the air around him grow heavy as Amos approached. But they both stopped when a familiar voice interrupted them.

"Amos, not like this at this academy"

It was headmistress Nike, looking as strict as ever, her presence alone imposing silence.

The other students around them were stunned to see Principal Nike herself arrive.

They began to whisper among themselves.

"She's stepping in... for a fight?"

"She usually never shows up for anything!"

Amos stopped, scratching the back of his head, a little embarrassed.

"Sorry... he started it too."

Nike, usually stern and severe, let out a sigh.

"You are incorrigible."

The other heirs approached them.

Leah was the first to step forward and greet Madam Nike.

"Good morning, Madam Nike. It's a pleasure to see you again."

Nike gave her a warm smile.

"Leah — or rather, Princess — it's wonderful to see you as well."

Leah answered kindly, smiling warmly.

"No need for that between us. You welcomed me so kindly on Earth, I owe you."

Nike, appreciating the gesture, nodded, her smile lingering.

"Alright, Leah."

Anna and Yoan came forward next. Anna spoke first.

"Nice to see you again, Principal Nike."

Nike responded politely and warmly to Anna.

"Anna, the Student Council President."

Anna winked playfully.

"That was on Earth."

Yoan held out his hand, ever polite and calm.Principal Nike shook it firmly in return.

"Yoan, always a pleasure to see the genius you are."

Yoan answered respectfully, his tone serious but warm.

"The pleasure is mine, Madam."

Nike glanced around, as if looking for someone.

"Tell me, where is Lucas?"

Yoan pointed in the direction Lucas had gone.

"He went that way."

Nike sighed.

"I would have liked to greet him as well."

Hearing that, Amos couldn't help but comment, his voice annoyed.

"I don't see why. That guy is just annoying to everyone."

Everyone turned toward Amos... then burst out laughing.Even Yoan, usually so composed, chuckled softly.

Amos looked at them, a confused expression on his face.

"What? Did I say something funny?"

Around them, the other students looked on in confusion, their whispering growing louder.

"Why is she being so friendly with them?"

"I heard her call the brunette 'Princess'."

"I heard rumors... that the royal family turned her human and sent her to Earth."

"Human? How can they allow an inferior to be royal?"

Hearing the discrimination, Leah immediately stopped laughing. The three heirs' laughter died at once, each of them casting dark, imposing glares that silenced the crowd instantly.

Nike raised her voice sharply at the surrounding students.

"Disperse! You're blocking the passageway."

The students obeyed without protest, not daring to defy her.

Nike turned back to them, her expression a bit more relaxed.

"Alright. You are all registered under the Psychic Energy Practice division. Of course, you are also free to attend theory classes."

They nodded in agreement.

"Very well. I'll leave you then. Have a good first day at Glory Academy."

Nike walked away.Watching her, Amos suddenly remembered something.

"I forgot to ask her about the Void... and how she manages both the Earth Academy and Artasel's." he thought.

Leah, about to leave with Anna and Yoan, stopped when she saw Amos still standing there, frozen.

"Amos, you coming?"

Amos waved his hand.

"Go on ahead. I have something to take care of."

Before Leah could say anything, Amos was already gone.

"He seems distant sometimes..." Leah thought to herself.

She rejoined Anna and Yoan. Anna noticed Leah's slightly disappointed expression.

"What happened? Why did he leave like that?"

Leah answered, her voice a bit lower.

"He said he had something to deal with."

Anna threw her arm playfully around Leah's shoulders.

"Don't worry, Princess. Your dark knight isn't off flirting with some other lady."

Leah jumped, blushing fiercely.

"No! It's not like that!"

Her face softened slightly.

"I'm just afraid... that now that I'm a princess, he won't see me the same way."

Yoan tried to reassure her, his tone gentle.

"Princess or not, you matter to him."

Leah didn't respond, but a small smile formed on her lips, comforted by Yoan's words.

Meanwhile, Amos was following Nike through the Academy's wide, crowded hallways. She entered her office; Amos arrived shortly after and knocked.

"Come back later," she said, her voice stern.

Amos answered through the door.

"It's Amos."

Nike's voice immediately softened.

"Ah, alright. Come in."

Amos stepped inside. Nike was seated at her desk.

"The last time you were in my office, it was after knocking Lucas out," she joked.

Amos laughed too.

"The idiot earlier could've ended up worse," he commented.

Nike chuckled at Amos's remark.

"Take a seat."

Amos sat down, then got straight to the point.

"You probably know why I'm here."

Nike nodded, already aware.

"You've realized it, haven't you?"

Amos answered directly, his tone serious

"You're a Void user, aren't you?"

Nike nodded again.

"Exactly. Go ahead, ask your questions, Heir of the Void," she added teasingly.

Amos grew serious.

"How do you manage both schools?"

Nike lifted her hand and materialized a small mass of Void.It was different from Amos's Void — hers shimmered with a purple, almost cosmic aura, though its edges remained dark.Unlike Amos's Void, which was purely shadowy.

"What the..."

Nike cut him off by snapping her fingers, making the mass disappear.

"The Void has many natures. Only Void users know this.Mine, for example, is the Void of Space."

That last word immediately caught Amos's attention.

"So... you can switch between worlds?"

"Exactly. But that's not all."

Nike's body was suddenly enveloped by the same shimmering purple Void.In a flash, she vanished... and reappeared behind Amos, creating a small gust of wind, the void releasing her.Amos spun around, completely awestruck.

"That's incredible..."

Nike smirked.

"That's not everything."

She snapped her fingers again.

In an instant, Amos found himself enveloped in her Void.Inside, he felt an overwhelming, vast space — endless, yet strangely silent. In less than a second, he reappeared — sitting in Nike's chair.

"You can even move people?!"

Nike, satisfied by his shocked reaction, returned to her own chair.

"Exactly."

Amos processed the information, another question forming.

"Cloack can stop time... Does that mean he uses a Temporal Void?"

Nike nodded.

"Exactly. His Void is the Void of Time.It allows him to slow down or freeze time in a limited area — a grey sphere. The outside of the sphere is unaffected. The more powerful the user, the larger the area of effect."

Amos took in the new information, pieces of the puzzle starting to fit together.

"So what Void do I use?"

Nike answered, observing him carefully.

"Based on your energy... You use the Materialization Void.It allows you to temporarily create objects made of Void. But according to Cloack, you've already found a way to apply it to physical pressure — like what you did to the kidnapper who tried to take Leah and you..."

Nike, realizing she touched a sensitive topic, fell silent.

"It's fine... It's not like they were the first."

"The first?"

Amos lowered his gaze, unwilling to continue.

"Forget it."

Nike sighed but respected his decision.

"There's something else you need to know.Vyran... he can master all forms of Void. And you, even though you've had the Void sealed within you since birth and had little exposure to psychic energy, the Void inside you is still dangerously strong — too strong for your core to bear."

Amos's brow furrowed.

"How do you know about my blackouts?"

"Vanessa told me.She noticed the black veins around your eyes.Honestly, Cloack would be better suited to explain the nature of it to you."

Amos nodded, though a final question crossed his mind.

"Madam Vanessa... Why does she stay on Earth if she's a psychic being?"

Nike sighed, clearly hoping he wouldn't ask that.

"She'll tell you someday. It's not for me to say."

Amos nodded again, though it hurt to know Vanessa was hiding something from him.He moved toward the door.

"Thank you."

Nike nodded, and Amos left.

Amos wandered the hallways. Most students were now in class, and the corridors were quieter.

"I don't even know where my first class is... what a mess."

He stopped when he spotted someone through a window —a girl sitting alone on a staircase railing, looking just as lost as him.

"Maybe I should ask if she knows where I'm supposed to go."

Amos stepped outside and slowly approached her.As he got closer, her appearance became clearer —pale skin like clear water, long white hair, and pure white eyes.

Amos, a little impressed, greeted her in a friendly tone.

"Hey, I'm Amos.By any chance... do you know if we're in the same class? And if you have the class schedule?"

The girl, startled by Amos, pulled a small sheet of paper from her pocket.

"What's that?" Amos asked.

She answered with a soft, calm voice, hard to read emotionally.

"It's the class information sheet.I'm surprised you don't have it...but strangely, yes, we are in the same class."

Amos blinked, surprised by the coincidence. He wondered if she was playing with him, but she reached out her hand to shake his.

"Nice to meet you, Amos.I'm Stellar, an user of Existence."

Amos's eyes widened at the word 'Existence'.

"It's true... Existence can manipulate every element.I wonder if she can wield Void too..." he thought.

He shook her hand in return.

"Nice to meet you too.As you know, I'm Amos — Void user."

As they shook hands, Amos could feel the sheer, overwhelming power radiating from her.It sent a small shiver down his spine.

And both thought the exact same thing at the same time:

"She's strong."

"He's strong."
