Chapter 205: It's Over! Tsunade Came for a Title—Reviving the Senju Clan?

After Genma brought up Renji's marriage, everyone present suddenly realized—he really was at that age.

And what an age it was.

Not one person in the room was without ulterior thoughts.

Renji's strength alone was reason enough—he had defeated A, and even Ōnoki saw him as the perfect fusion of Uchiha Madara and Senju Hashirama.

Anyone who formed an alliance with him through marriage would gain tremendous influence in the new Shinobi Nation.

And beyond that—he possessed both the Mangekyō Sharingan and Wood Release. His children could very well inherit both bloodlines, the two greatest legacies that once shaped the ninja world.

That alone made him irresistible.

Ōnoki was practically ready to shove Kurotsuchi at him, while A was already thinking about suitable candidates from the Cloud Village.

Renji's age gave him a wide range of options.

The younger ones, like Hinata and the others, could wait until they were older—he wasn't much older than them anyway.

If they wanted someone around his own age, there was Kurotsuchi or Anko.

If slightly older—Mei Terumi, Kurenai, Shizune, and Konan were all possibilities.

And if they were thinking strategically, pairing him with Tsunade could even "revive the Senju Clan."

He was, in short, universally compatible.

That realization instantly made Uchiha Jin leap to his feet.

"Hey! What are you all plotting? The Uchiha Clan isn't out of candidates! Renji, you're about Izumi's age—how about her?"

Jin pushed Izumi forward immediately. In his eyes, Renji and Izumi already knew each other well.

Izumi had left the shinobi life after Renji's coup. She never liked fighting, preferring business and trade instead, and now managed the Uchiha Commerce Guild.

To Jin, that was a virtue. A gentle, capable woman who could manage a household—surely Renji would like that.

"Actually, Mei Terumi would be perfect," Genma chimed in, ignoring Mei's death glare. "You two were quite the pair back in the Mist, weren't you?"

"Pakura, say something," Chiyo urged.

"..."

Pakura was speechless. What was she supposed to say—advertise herself? Still, given Renji's power, authority, and looks, it wasn't that strange that everyone was fighting for him.

"Kurotsuchi's a fine choice too," Ōnoki added proudly. "You said before you liked her legs, didn't you?"

"Grandpa!"

Kurotsuchi's face went crimson. Was that really something her grandfather should say aloud?

"I think Samui or Yugito would suit him better," A interrupted.

To be fair—they weren't bad choices either.

Renji stroked his chin, face perfectly calm, but Tsunade caught the flicker in his eyes and almost rolled hers.

He looked calm on the outside, but she could tell—this man's imagination was already running wild.

"Enough. We'll discuss marriage later," Renji said firmly. "And stop trying to arrange it for me—I'll decide for myself."

He didn't want politics interfering in his personal life, though he knew it was nearly unavoidable. Still, he wanted it to be genuine, not strategic.

"True, marriage shouldn't be rushed," said Uchiha Fugaku, clearing his throat. The number of people trying to sell their daughters was absurd.

Better to slow things down. If Renji didn't choose anyone now, Fugaku could arrange for him to meet Izumi more often later—they'd grow close naturally.

After all, a disciple was one thing, but a wife? That meant bloodline inheritance—and influence at the pillow's edge was no small matter.

"Alright, that's enough. Go prepare your candidate lists. I'll review them myself, and if they're unsuitable, I'll send them back. And don't flood me with people," Renji said, waving them off.

As everyone reluctantly left, he noticed one person still lingering.

"You're still here? What is it?"

Only Tsunade remained.

"You asked me before about the bloodline research," she said, stepping forward.

"Ah, right," Renji nodded. "How's the genetic study coming along?"

He had tasked Tsunade with investigating the genetic origins of kekkei genkai—to determine whether bloodline abilities could be mapped biologically.

After all, kekkei genkai seemed akin to inherited DNA traits—dominant when expressed, recessive when dormant.

Renji wasn't an expert in this field, so he had only outlined the concept briefly.

Initially, Tsunade thought he meant human experimentation and refused. But after learning he only needed blood samples for genetic analysis, she hesitated—then agreed.

"Just as you said," Tsunade began. "There are genetic differences between Uchiha who awaken the Sharingan and those who don't. My own genes differ from my grandfather's too. That might explain why I didn't inherit Wood Release."

She had tested Hashirama's DNA—procured from what had once been under Danzō's control—and found it distinct from her own.

Later, she analyzed Yamato's blood and confirmed that it carried traces of her grandfather's genetic code, further supporting her hypothesis.

She had even examined Renji's blood—and what she found baffled her. Despite possessing both Senju and Uchiha lineage, his genetic structure was remarkably pure, almost as if he had regressed to an ancient form.

"I have a question," Tsunade said at last, her eyes sharp and focused on him.

Her studies had led to a startling discovery. She had intended to keep it secret until further confirmation—but Renji's comments and uncanny foresight made her suspect he already knew.

"Ask."

"Are the Senju and Uchiha descended from the same ancestor?"

She had found genetic similarities between the two clans—too close to be coincidence.

Hearing that, Renji couldn't help but smirk inwardly. So, science really was the driving force of civilization—Orochimaru had reached this same conclusion through experimentation.

All it took was analyzing the genes to see the connection.

Especially now that Tsunade had access to the advanced biotech Renji had imported from another world.

With those tools, her research had advanced rapidly. In medical genetics, Tsunade might even surpass Orochimaru—she had simply never pursued it this deeply before.

"You found that out this fast?" Renji asked with interest.

"Yes," Tsunade said, her tone intense. "My research suggests the Uchiha and Senju once shared a common ancestor. And more than that—based on further analysis, I've discovered something else." She paused, meeting his eyes. "Your body contains traces of an unknown bloodline… and Hyūga genes."

She couldn't tell if Renji had somehow fused these traits himself or if he'd always carried them. But one thing was certain—his genes defied logic.

Tsunade's discoveries had opened an entirely new world for her.

Renji gave a weary chuckle. "I'm starting to wonder if letting you research genetics was a good idea or not."

As he spoke, his pupils turned pure white—and a sharp bone blade emerged from his hand.

"The Shikotsumyaku of the Kaguya Clan?!" Tsunade gasped.

So the Byakugan was indeed one part—but the other bloodline within Renji was the Kaguya Clan's Shikotsumyaku.

Now everything lines up.

"So you edited your own bloodlines through gene editing as well?" Tsunade asked curiously, though she did not fully accept the idea.

"If I truly had that ability, would I have needed you to research it?" Renji replied. He insisted he hadn't done that himself—what he had were system rewards—yet he hoped Tsunade could help him study gene editing properly.

"I see. Your many bloodlines didn't just appear out of nowhere, then?" Tsunade said, having stayed because she wanted Renji to be frank. Now that she had a working grasp of genetics, she feared the technology's power; if it continued unchecked, it could overturn the entire shinobi world.

She worried Renji might use the technique for dangerous ends. The thought reminded her of Hiruko's secret methods—techniques designed to break bloodline limits—and now those ends could potentially be achieved through genetic engineering, which was terrifying.

Renji spoke evenly: "This returns us to the point I mentioned earlier—the Senju and Uchiha share a common ancestor, and many kekkei genkai ultimately derive from that ancestor." He framed much of it as atavism, and indeed those bloodlines did show links to that origin.

"An ancestor?" Tsunade muttered, then looked at Renji with a signal to continue. Renji explained, "In ancient times there was no chakra as you know it. Chakra's origin comes from the Otsutsuki goddess Kaguya."

"Not the Sage of Six Paths?" Tsunade scoffed inwardly. The Sage was legendary, but Renji had named an even older figure—an alien goddess—rather than the familiar myth.

Renji continued: "The Otsutsuki goddess came from an extraterrestrial clan. She was blessed by the people and gave birth to two sons: Otsutsuki Hagoromo, the Sage of Six Paths, and Otsutsuki Hamura, his younger brother. The brothers inherited two of their mother's powers—one the Rinnegan and the other the Byakugan."

"For reasons I won't go into now, the brothers sealed their mother, Kaguya. One brother went to the moon to guard her, and the other stayed and founded the shinobi tradition, distributing chakra to humanity. Hagoromo later fathered two sons—one inherited the sage's life-force and Wood Release, the other awakened the Sharingan. You know the rest of that story."

Renji's recounting left Tsunade stunned but not entirely surprised; her genetic work had hinted at kinship between the Senju and Uchiha. She asked bluntly, "So by your account, your Byakugan traces back to that goddess?"

"Yes. I had you research genes because I want to see if we can later place bloodline traits into machines," Renji replied. He envisaged using biotech—work the Red Queen could prototype—to embed kekkei genkai into robots. As for androids, Renji remained undecided and admitted Tsunade might not be the specialist needed; they would have to find someone who controlled the core technology.

"Wait—my head's spinning. Why would they seal their mother? And aliens?" Tsunade ran her hands through her hair, sensing gaps in the tale. The notion that a blessing could trigger pregnancy and then prompt a child to seal its own mother felt mythic and implausible.

"Aliens aren't that strange," Renji said coolly. "Besides, I plan to go to the moon. If you don't believe me, come see for yourself." He did not mind Tsunade knowing the truth; for him, reality mattered little compared to power. He also guessed that if Tsunade left without answers, she might refuse to continue her research—he could not very well recruit Orochimaru for this.

"So are you saying this is an internal Otsutsuki conflict?" Tsunade asked. Renji grinned: she had hit the mark. The shinobi world, he said, was effectively a stage for an Otsutsuki internecine war; those without Otsutsuki ties had little standing, and figures like Rasa, Minato, and Might Guy were notable primarily for raw power.

Tsunade slammed down her curiosity; the revelations were enough for her to digest for a long time, and she recognized that the more she knew, the more Renji might exploit her. She snapped at him: "You called me your trusted retainer!"

"Don't flatter yourself. I won't forget the humiliation you brought me," Tsunade shot back, glaring. She could not forget how Renji had cured her hemophobia—and how gossip had twisted their three days alone into scandal and rumor.

Renji shrugged: "Isn't your blood phobia cured now?" Tsunade retorted that the village rumor mill had already spun their seclusion into a suggestive affair, and her reputation suffered—she resented being portrayed as Renji's paramour when she had merely aided research.

Renji offered a more practical proposal: would she collaborate with Chiyo on pharmaceuticals and cosmetic therapeutics to boost the village economy and cover more medical treatments? Pairing the two former rivals would be Renji's unique solution.

Tsunade bristled, reminding him of his original assurances when she returned: he had promised favorable conditions and not to overload her. She refused the sudden schedule he tried to impose and began to leave, but Renji grabbed her hand and implored her earnestly: "Just this once, Tsunade. Help me—there's no one else fit for this."

"Let go!" she barked, lowering her voice because of nearby guards. Gossip stung her—people already presumed she and Renji were entangled, yet others openly pitched wives to him. If rumors persisted, she would be the one damned by them.

Renji held her firm and saw that she was swayed by kindness rather than force. Tsunade snarled that fate owed her for past wrongs, then relented with a growled concession: "Fine—this once."

Renji immediately released her. Tsunade turned, studying him hard, and demanded bluntly: "You said you wanted to revive the Senju clan with me—was that genuine or not?" She remained, watching him silently and waiting for an answer.

Renji froze. This was new—he had thought of their pact as cooperative, not a formal claim. The possibility that she now sought a title or public stake alarmed him; he pictured future scenes of her demanding recognition. Sweat beaded on his brow as he scrambled for a reply.
