Chapter 8 - King of The Pirates Drama

We sat on a log at the campfire in the snow-covered forest of Mt. Colubo, cooking the four fish we'd previously thrown away—this time skewered over the flames.

I took out the katana from my inventory; it poofed into my hands, surprising everyone. The katana was in a black-and-white sheath with a red grip, a black pommel, and a white diamond pattern running along the grip to a pure white crossguard. The blade itself was silver-white, with a pattern running to the end of the hamon.

"Wow, that's a cool-looking katana," said Luffy.

"I know, right? I just got it!" I said, excited.

"System, what are the stats on this katana?"

[DING]

Grade: Wazamono( Grade Sword)

Katana Name: Shiro

Effect: Adds +50 Strength

"The katana's name is Shiro," I said proudly.

The katana then vanished back into my inventory. Poof.

"Devil Fruit?" asked Naguri.

"Yeah, it gives me a place to store items and sometimes gives me stuff—like this katana."

"That's interesting," he said.

"Anyway, tell us more about yourself. How are you this strong?" I asked, trying to change the topic.

"Oh, I'm just an old pirate captain," he replied.

"What—you're a pirate and a captain, Naguri?!" asked Sabo, sitting to Naguri's left. An excited Luffy dangled his feet off the log to his right. Ace wore an annoyed expression, elbows on his knees. I sat next to Luffy with a grin, just a chill-guy vibe.

"Yes, indeed."

"I knew it! Only a pirate captain could do that!" Luffy waved his hand around, all excited.

"That?" Naguri asked, confused, looking at Luffy giggling.

"You made the big bear turn away just by staring at him—like Shanks! You're cool, old man!"

"Is that so? Hehe."

"I can't believe Naguri was a pirate. I always saw him collecting trash and hammering weird stuff together, getting bullied by the Bluejam crew—he looked pathetic," Sabo said.

"You know nothing, Sabo! That's how pirates are!" Luffy puffed up his chest, hands on his waist like he was the smartest in the group.

"You don't know anything about pirates," Sabo shot back.

"I know pirates! Shanks doesn't do needless killings!"

"All you know is Shanks."

Ace got up. "It's done." He cut up one of the skewers and handed pieces to us.

"It's hot!!!" Sabo and Luffy exclaimed.

"So, what is a pirate captain doing in a place like this?" asked Ace.

"How could you ask me that?"

"You don't have to tell me."

"No, I'll tell you. Do you guys know Gold Roger?"

"Roger? I know him! He was the King of the Pirates!"

"We challenged the King of the Pirates to a fight!"

"Really?" Luffy beamed.

"But we lost the fight and split up," Naguri said, taking a long pull on his smoking pipe. "Then everything went downhill after that. I ended up here. That's basically that."

"But you fought with the King of the Pirates, right? That's cool!" Luffy chimed in.

"Ha, it wasn't much of a fight. We got beaten badly."

"Oh, really? Even you were no—"

"Yes. And not just Roger; his crew was also very strong. Most importantly, their teamwork was in perfect coordination!"

Ace started walking away as Naguri was still talking.

"It was an honor to fight them."

"I see! I still have a long way to go to become a pirate."

"You're interested in becoming a pirate?" asked Naguri.

"I'm gonna become one! Oh yeah, old guy, give me some tips," Luffy said. "I want to get stronger to be captain and lead Ace, Sabo, and Sora!"

"A pirate captain?" Naguri asked.

"Yes." stated Luffy without an inch of doubt.

"Okay."

Sabo and I let out a big sigh.

"Before that, I gotta tell you guys something about Ace," said Sabo.

"Ehhhhhhh—the King of the Pirates is his father?!"

"Yeah, but you guys can't tell anybody! Don't mention it to Ace. He's gonna kill you."

"Why?" asked Luffy, confused.

"I don't know the details, but he doesn't like Roger for sure."

"But that's his dad," Luffy asked, frustrated.

"So what," said Sabo, understanding that his parents weren't best to him.

"Oh yeah—your parents…" said Luffy.

"Children don't always get along with their parents."

"But what a shame! His dad is the King of the Pirates, though!" said Luffy.

"I get wanting to ask him about Roger," Sabo said, "but just don't."

"I won't probably. I don't think a parent defines a kid—they should be free to live their own life," I said.

"Probably?, but just don't say anything—especially you, Luffy. You got it?"

"Uh-huh! I got it!"

We got back to our treehouse base and saw Ace at the top, staring outside, calm.

"There he is. Remember—just act casual."

"You know I'm always casual. I'll follow both your lead," I told them.

"Good. And make sure not to mention Roger."

"I got it—don't worry," Luffy said, cutting in.

Sabo walked through the curtain first. "Oh, Ace! I didn't know you were home!"

"Oh, Ace! I didn't know your father was Roger!" Luffy said as he walked in after.

Ace's face darkened, while Sabo went pale.

"Oh, Ace! I didn't know you hated your father," I said as I walked in.

Ehhh, I knew Luffy would say it, but even Sora? What is wrong with these fools? Sabo thought.

"You idiots, Luffy, Sora! I told you not to mention it!" Sabo said, tugging our shirts back and forth; his face looked pale while we just smiled.

"Luffy… Sora," Ace said, eyes shadowed, still facing outside.

"Yeah?"

"Who told you guys that?"

"Sabo told us!" I said. "Hey, Ace, what was Roger like?"

"Stoppppppp! How stupid are you? Don't just say it casually!" Sabo screamed, grabbing Luffy again.

I saw Ace walking up as the other two argued.

Pop! Pop! Pop!

He hit all three of us on the head, knocking us down.

"Don't you ever mention that name again when I'm around!" Ace demanded, standing over us.

"I deserve that—haha," I said.

"Why did you hit me?! Don't be mean—just tell me!" Luffy complained.

"Give people the chance to explain first," Sabo said.

"Shut up," Ace snapped, and he hit us again.

"Tell us, you meanie!"

"That's right—we can't have secrets from your brothers."

"Shut up! I don't care about my brothers!!!" Ace yelled.

"Roger, Roger, Roger! Ace's father is the King of the Pirates!" sang Luffy.

"Haha, Luffy, you're crazy—haha," I laughed.

"Shut up, both of you! Don't provoke him!"

"AHHHHHH!" Luffy screamed as Ace attacked us.

"When you get down to it, it's your fault for being a bigmouth!"

We kept running and fighting for a bit until we were tired.

The base was a mess. "From today onward, we are no longer brothers," Ace declared.

"I was gonna say the same thing," we all said in unison—and then we passed out.

While at BlueJam's Base, a Noble has come to visit him, "find him and bring him to me." He tells BlueJam

"While Dadan is reading the News Paper"

"Hmmmm it says a Celistail Dragon is coming to Goa Kinddom is that a Big deal ?"
