Chapter 7 - the two-faced coin

Witnessing that sight, kheru was startled visibly which was quite a rare sight.

Her startling visibly made sekhm also confused.

'I dont understand— what is driving you to know—... Sigh— maybe if i lost my memories i would be as desperate as him'

Kheru thought as she collected herself.

Sighing internally, she stopped in her tracks and turned around.

"Fine, what do you wanna know?"

Kheru asked.

" the humans— the humans you guys killed yesterday—why did you kill them? "

Yozrasef's voice trembled with hesitation to ask but he asked anyway, he was afraid if that question may anger her since he think she just a killer.

"Ah, i see– well you may have got the wrong idea and clearly you have every right to think that way–"

Kheru blinked in surprised manner then started to speak in understanding that he misunderstood the situation.

"Those weren't humans–...they are shape shifting naunets, they are the most dangerous type of all naunets and the most annoying to deal with"

Her face expression twisted in anger and her jaw clenched causing a vein to bulge through her forhead as she spoke of the shape shifting naunets.

Yozrasef digested the words she said and fell back again in a thoughts.

' shape—shifting naunets...hmm..could be the guards that were trapped in prison with me a shape shifting naunets too?....eh—thats another problem to deal with—'

Yozrasef's thoughts were ramping until sekhm again spoke breaking the awkward atmosphere.

"So— what is your request, little guy?"

Sehkm asked calmly.

" i— ahem..well my request that you guys may teach me the way to use aether or that energy you told me about"

Yozrasef stated nervously thinking that they may refuse.

"Wait— you don't know how to use energy!? —"

Kheru asked, her visible startle intensified by the fact that he doesnt know how to use energy.

She stared at him, in silence.

'Now that i remember, i never saw his body releases any steam or even heat'

Kheru didnt know what to say.

"Uh—yes? Wait,did i not just say that i don't reme—"

Yozrasef tried to speak but was caught in the middle of his sentence.

"Then..how did you even get here? How were you even able to survive this —place — this battlefield?"

Kheru broke the silence ignoring that he was trying to speak and kept on showering him with questions.

Her voice cracked in disbelief and concern.

" thats what i have been saying— i wasn't exaggerating when i told you that guy is nuts—"

Sekhm joined the ranting too but soon was caught off guard by yozrasef.

" for god sake— i know its hard too believe but i really dont remember how and why i got here!"

Yozrasef yelled at the top of his lungs, he couldn't take it anymore, feeling overwhelmed.

Feeling his overwhelmed self, kheru and sekhm adjusted themselves.

"Ahem—Well I apologise for overreacting"

Kheru apologized after adjusting herself.

"Ehh...its fine— just explain what is going on and why is it big deal if I'm here without knowing how to channel energy?"

Yozrasef sighed outwardly accepting her question as he composed himself once again.

"In order for you to come here to the abyss, you need to at least know how to channel energy–aether but from what you just said, its even more confusing—how did someone like you in the human ranks get here, is the question"

Kheru explained calmly but her face wasnt calm, confusion cracked through her face.

'that dilemma is growing out of control'

everyone including the blindfolded girl fell into the same thought.

"What is the human—ran— what is that you just said?"

Yozrasef asked with confusion cracking through his composed face.

"Oh— right, okay let me break it down for you"

Kheru paused for a second taking in a deep breath.

"So we have something called human ranks and supernatural ranks"

Kheru stated flatly as she continued.

"Human ranks has three levels we call them floors.

First floor: normal human beings.

Second floor: human beings that are taught how to use their body and utilize it through combat and also their daily life basis.

Third floor: human beings who are taught how to channel their own energy and can increase their own stamina and harden their body, their body becomes immune to most diseases."

Kheru paused, taking in a Deep breath before continuing her speec while everyone listening to her eagerly.

"Supernaturals are for those who have surpassed their own limits and became stronger version of humans, they can influence thier surroundings and perform things that are close to miracles for human-beings but they dont have certain levels cause supernatural ranks are very unpredictable, it all depends on someone's talent.

But it has one level that is rare for anyone to attain—well now days, which we call: gods—"

Kheru was caught in the middle of her speech by sekhm.

"Blasphemy!!—dont listen to her little guy, its called demigods—"

Sekhm tried to speak to cut her off from her speech but the later yelled back.

"Here we go again with your childish folklore—"

Kheru said with irritation cracking over her already tired face.

" cause—its not folklore!! — those beings you spoke off were given power by the eternal light to fight agani—"

Sekhm spoke with enthusiasm mixed with anger trying to refute her words but was caught in th middle.

" ugh— enough already! this is— irrelevant— no one has reached that level after our last ruler— 400 years ago"

Kheru spoke cutting sekhm off from his sentence in irritation, her face almost twisted in anger.

Sekhm kept on muttering his curses under his breath.

Yozrasef fell deep into a Thought.

' gods-.. eternal light—..this is turning into very complicated issue... '

Yozrasef heaved a long sigh while sekhm and kheru kept on bantering over each other.

"Ah–okay so you haven't told me yet—"

Yozrasef tried to speak but was caught in the middle of his sentence.

"Forget about her little guy — me, the great sekhm, will teach you!"

Sekhm admitted enthusiastically.

'Well if its him– definitely i Will learn something—'

Yozrasef glanced over sekhm recalling the previous battles.

"Well you have your answer now—"

Kheru said before taking a deep breath, her anger and irritation can be seen visible on her face.

"Im leaving."

Kheru left those afew words before taking off the ground, climbing the air like stairs, entering the the sea of darkness.

Yozrasef caught glimps of her expression.

The expression that was mixed with raw anger, regret and nostalgia as memory flashed through her vision.

But her face immediately changed back to the expressionless facade as she Dived through the oblivion.

Kheru disappeared from everyone's sight.

Yozrasef watched her back disappear in the darkness and his head hung low in thought.

' did I anger her?..well it doesn't matter now– for now Lets devise a tiny plan:

Learn, Execute, Learn, Execute, that would raise our learning efficiency by hundred'

Yozrasef's crimson eyes flashed with determination.

As he was stuck in his own trail of thoughts, the blindfolded girl approached him calmly.

"—i am..khet."

The blindfolded girl spoke her name out loud, her voice was clear but dry causing her to cough.

'Well it would be nice of me to say my name since he said his name too— right mother?'

The girl thought inwardly as she touched the white cloth that was wrapped around her head, covering her eyes.

She lowered down her head and As soon as she said her name, she turned around and walked away.

Yozrasef's eyes widened in surprise.

Due to his surprise,

He couldn't speak or tell her anything as she vanished from his sight through the distance.

Ever since he appeared here, The people he met iintroduced themselves by the intent of killing him but he never had this normal encounter until just now.

even sekhm who was talking non stop was left speechless.

"Huh?- this girl has always been a mute, ever since me and her crossed paths– you know i met her along time ago when i was first deplo—"

Sekhm didnt stop talking and yozrasef's expressionless facade started to crack down in annoyance.

" Enough already—"

Yozrasef snapped at sekhm cutting him off from his non stop banter.

Sekhm scratched his cheeks wondering why did yozrasef snap but soon his attention was obscured.

"Lets get this done with, teach me energy—"

Yozrasef collected his own thoughts then spoke with determination but soon that determination died.

"Easy, little guy, first— lets point a few things out before you getting your heart crushed:

First issue you have,

You dont know how to utilize your body, you move almost like animals, based on instinct and quick observation which is good—BUT! you also need to understand your body and how to Utilize your tiny muscles for extreme efficiency."

Sekhm clasped his hands together demonstrating visually as he spoke to grasp yozrasef's full Attention.

"Second issue, you cant jump right away in learning energy without learning about your body and your muscles anatomy as we have said earlier—"

Yozrasef digested all the information but was very surprised by the serious side that sekhm has.

It was reassuring.

But then yozrasef got curious and asked.

"How did you know that I dont how to utilize my body accordingly?"

Yozrasef couldn't help but feel curious.

"Well— I have been observing you while you were fighting, dont get it wrong, I do that with everyone—"

Sekhm stated while scratching the back if his head.

"Is not that reckless?— watching others while fighting those nane—nanets— or whatever it is called?"

Yozrasef asked, he couldn't say naunets causally like them, it was new term for him.

Yozrasef felt like sekhm was lying but the later demolished that thought.

" naunets— yes and you wouldn't understand now— plus you don't need to worry about that— back in the day—"

Sekhm corrected yozrasef and was about to start ranting again but yozrasef cut him off.

"Okay— I get it!—lets continue with your points, please—"

Yozrasef snapped cutting him off, sekhm was Startled by the sudden change once again, but he once again ragined composure professionally.

Well almost.

"Ahem— ahem— anyways..Now let me guess—your question is, what does understanding my body has to do with channeling energy? The answer lies here little guy—"

Sekhm pasued and pointed his index finger on yozrasef's heart.

" the heart is an essential body part of the body and its the source of energy and its the source of your life—

Lets take for an example; walking,

when we walk our heart starts beating fast and thats because it generates blood through our vessels to give the body the amount of efforts it need for fueling your muscles for the next step."

Sekhm paused taking a deep breath then continued again, while glancing over the listening yozrasef.

"But here's the thing—most people have no idea how their own body works. They don't understand their muscles, their balance, or their limits. So their heart ends up doing overtime, blasting out blood like they're trying to outrun a lion when they're just—barely walking. The result? —

Wasted stamina.

Overexertion.

Like a donkey pulling a cart full of nonsense."

Sekhm paused once again clapping his handS to make sure yozrasef has his full attention.

"But what happens when someone understand their body? —

When they understand balance, control their movements, and know exactly how much effort to use?—

Suddenly, the body doesn't break out.

The heart stays steady.

Energy is conserved.

Power is precise—"

Sekhm explained with details and precision.

That change of behaviour made yozrasef admire sekhm a lot.

Yozrasef felt thankful towards sekhm for his ability to break down the issues easily.

Yozrasef fell in deep thought while digesting his words.

that's definitely true, i had that issue when i fought the lizards and the guard, i would always pass out early but— this time i didnt pass out but held my ground— it must have been my survival instinct that has kept me going—'

Yozrasef concluded in his head while recalling the past events.

" you— little guy, already got the basics down, instinctively— but Unfortunately, your body size fails to meet the category— in other words, you got sharp survival instincts but your body size fails to perform the best of its ability— in simpler words, you are no different from a fly— sharp instinct but tiny body, one mistake and you are dead.

All im gonna say is, you are strong— until you meet the wrong opponent "

Sekhm spoke his words while tilting his head left and right in a disapproval manner.

His words were like a blades stabbing deeply inisde his heart.

Yozrasef scratched the back of his head then spoke, understanding his words.

'His words are harsh but true.. even though I don't know what is a fly but he is definitely right—'

Yozrasef thought inwardly then he decided to speak.

"Okay i get it— but how do i do what you are telling me? —"

Yozrasef asked eagerly.

"Well right now— we will build your body frame and in order for us to do that, we will devise this drill—"

Sekhm paused for second.

He turned around as yozrasef followed his gaze,

He looked at the rest of the rockish–land before him, now that yozrasef stood at the highest curve of the land, he could almost comprehend the place.

The torches were scattered far and wide, casting their glow over only half the land—or to be more accurate, over as much as Sekhm and Yozrasef could see with their own eyes.

The walls of the caves stretched out halfway before vanishing into open rockish–land, which sprawled endlessly into a fog-drenched darkness.

Beyond that, no walls, no barriers—just the eerie vastness, expanding on both sides into nothingness.

Sekhm pointed towards the areas where they will start their training while explaining the drills:

"First we will train in something we call—well I call:

Survival movement:- they consist of Two main points:

1-Crawling and shifting: practicing movements through tight tunnels and confined places, focusing on agility, flexibility and core strength

2- underground traversal: climb and jump between rocks and uneven surfaces to build endurance and leg strength."

Yozrasef instinctively gulped, his throat dry as dust. Sekhm's finger pointed straight into the distance.

Towards the heart of the land where a massive crater tore through the earth. Nestled within its hollowed depths, a labyrinthine structure sprawled like a maze, waiting.

Sekhm intentionally showed the place where yozrasef will train and what training are they gonna do to test his desperation for power.

'yes, little guy, that desperation for power will be your only way to survive.'

Sekhm thought inwardly as his gaze reverted back to yozrasef who was now gulping in hesitation.

Despite the hesitation that was cracked through the expressionless facade, yozrasef gripped his fist tightly, charging his resolve.

As he was about to speak yozrasef's stomach growled.

Sekhm witnessed that he scratched the back of his head.

"Well we can eat first, right?—"

Sekhm stated but he was abruptly cut off in middle of his sentence.

"No— we can continue you now—"

Yozrasef stated enthusiastically and desperately but sekhm immediately cut him off.

"Listen, I understand you are desperate but at this rate you will break yourself down"

Sekhm paused for second while Speaking in a serious tone which made yozrasef reflect on his behaviour.

" I admit— your desperation is admirable but you need energy to back up that desperation so— now go eat, we will meet here in an hour".

With that sekhm turned around and started walking down the curved rockish-land they are standing on.

Yozrasef watched Sekhm's figure vanishing through the cave and sighed.

'Yeah— he is right...its not like I got any other choice—"

With that yozrasef collected his thoughts and took steps forward.

Yozrasef walked towards his cave.

Climbing the stairs, he entered the cave.

Through the oblivion.

Through the darkness.

Through the fog of nothingness, in another part of the abyss.

Waste—landscape, red sand covering the entire land.

Wherever you looked, you will find the same scenery, just sand.

From the sky view, it would reveal the next scene:

You will see an army of green and brown reptilians doing their daily routine of training.

100 archers.

100 spear warrior.

100 sword weilder.

Each troop had leader of its own, three brown reptilians oversaw the training of their comrades.

Through the smell and clashing noise of metal.

Through the rising clouds of dust and sand.

On a mountain, being stood at 12 feet of height.

His obsidian scales shimmered in metallic sheen.

His metallic slitted eyes, dark and hollow narrowed in a judging manner.

His sealed jaws hardened causing a agonizing metal noises, like two swords clashing together.

His body released hums of energy wave, deflecting any dust towards his presence.

His spiked tail swayed left and right, as his two hands were clasped together behind his back.

Dark simple cloth covered his private parts, swayed in elegance.

The being didn't need to release his sealed energy to exert his presence.

The presence already cause the mountain to tremble.

His presence was true sealed disaster that is yet to be ser free for this world.

He looked far a head in the distance as he observed the soldiers of the army.

Drop~

Drop~

Purple blood dropped from his chin on his dark cloth as it swayed.

He looked at the blood as it was dripping, his face twisted in anger as he recalled the humiliation.

'— that fucking—old bitch..if only! she and her useless husband get out of my way!—'

The being thought to himself, the air turned hot around him as his blood boiled and soon peculiar scene would unfold.

The blood dried up due to the heat his body releasing.

As the minute passes, the wound closed up, sealing the once holed chin.

Behind him 6 figures were prostating for him.

Silence grew between all of them until the being spoke.

"Haures, speak."

The being uttered, the air stiffened, his voice was deep and stoic, it caused the air to vibrate, releasing tiny bursts of air.

Huge and crushing pressure filled the air, the pressure that was being radiated from the being's body, filled the entire field, cutting them off from outside world.

One of the 6 figures that were prostrating, got up.

The previous alien and calamity like presence filled the land.

The energy wave around his body was like a flame.

smokeless flame of energy like wave radiates from his body trying to lessen the pressure crushing over him sO he could speak.

His tail lowered down in total submission, just like the 6 figures.

Brown skin color with dark scales that covered his vital spots that shimmered under his own aura.

White clothe knitted with gold covered his private areas.

The entity stood at 9 feet height with muscular frame, as soon as he stood, he kneeled once again.

Black hollow eyes, his gaze looked at the ground in total submission unlike the time when was around kheru and the humans.

His elongated jaws with slitted tongue slurping out of his mouth.

"My lord— we have lost 60 soldiers in the last encounter with the humans—"

Haures paused for second, taking a deep breath, the crushing pressure is suffocating him, his tongue dripping Silvia on the ground as his elongated jaw got more uneven.

"—So instead of losing the rest, I managed to get on time and sacrifice the other for you— my lord, since they couldn't prove their worth—"

Haures ended his sentence and as he did, the crushing pressure gradually lessened.

"Good work, haures"

The being said once again.

Silence lingered in the air, then the being spoke.

" you know, haures, I like all of you— I really do"

The being said, his voice expressed pure authority and stoicism.

Pausing for a second, the being continued.

" I prefer loyalty, efficiency — that's the top traits I look for—"

The being paused again.

"But!—"

The being stated as the air stiffened once again as his metallic hollow eyes glinted as fleeting memory passed through his vision.

"—i look for intellect and total obedience.. and that's are one of y'all greatest traits."

The being stated as he turned around.

His humanoid body with lizard facial traits sent shivers down haures' spine for some reason.

'The royal traits— that soulless—unbothered—uncaring gaze...yes this is the ultimate being...'

Haures gazed in admiration and awe as shiver ran down his spine.

"So I have decided, we will be slowly getting rid off our inefficient troops through humans—"

The being stated coldly, his slitted hollow eyes gleamed with thrill.

" haures—"

The being called as the thrill in his eyes turned into fury, his deep voice rang in the empty space in authoritative manner.

"My lord"

Haures answered the call in a tone full of ecstasy, his scales cradled against each other releasing grinching metallic noise

" volefor—"

The being called.

A being rose from his prostration, his white metallic scales over his green skin shimmering under the torch lights.

His body stood at 8 feet height with muscular frame, his golden glowing slitted eyes glow in respect and loyalty, he didn't dare to release any energy out of respect like haures and the others followed his suit.

"my lord"

Volefor answered the call in total submission.

"Marchosias"

The being called.

A being rose from his prostration, his dark skin absorbed the light of the torchlights as his gray scales covered his back and wrists and vital points of his body, his slitted eyes glew in like oze color, the glint in his eyes expressed his humbleness as his clenched jaw expressed his seriousness.

"My lord"

Marchosias answered the call in humble tone.

"Gladys"

The being called.

A being rose from his prostration, his gray skin glimmered in light his white metallic scales that covered his body sheen in light illuminating the darkness, his white slitted eyes glinted in ecstasy and admiration for his leader, his elongated jaws opened in awkwardly as his slitted tongue dropped Silvia on the ground, he couldn't speak out of Fear so he lowered his head in fear.

" halphas"

The being called.

A being rose from his position, his gray skin glimmered in light as his dark metallic scales that covered his body sheen in light reflecting the Torchlight, his emerald slitted eyes glinted with thrill, his expression was expressing his respect towards his liege, his head lowered in humbleness and respect.

"My lord"

Halphas answered the call calmly.

"Andras"

The being Called.

A being rose from his position, his brown skin covered in white metallic scales which covered his body, illuminated the darkness around him as they absorbed the light of the torch on his side, his gray slitted eyes glinted with madness, his face expressed composure over his pilling up excitement and his thirst for blood, his elgoinated jaws opened up revealing his slitted tongue that was dripping Silvia like a snake dripping her venom in thrill.

"My-th lord"

Andras spoke and as he did, he slitted tongue spoke sprouted Silvia outwards.

"We will be attacking in 8 hours, get the useless dummies ready"

The being said as he turned around, his gaze sweeped across the rockish—land.

His eyes metalic slitted hollow eyes gleamed in thirst for blood.

' die for me, your death shall be my fuel— fuel for power, fuel for glory as I destroy those humans....let me prove to him thatwe—no!, that I! Am! Better than all of those creations!'

The being thought inwardly as the ground trembled and cracked from the weight of his madness that is expressed through his thoughts.

Witnessing that, all the 6 minutes behind him, darted to each of their direction.

They all landed in front of the troops and proceeded with managing the troops.

Meanwhile.

Through the oblivion, yozrasef and sekhm were standing opposing each other.

" did you eat?"

Sekhm asked while he picked in-between his teeth with the nail of his finger as he grinned with excitement.

"Yes I did, how about You?— "

Yozrasef tried to ask him but his voice faded realizing there was no reason to ask.

"never mind, you obviously did—"

the muscles of the big guy bulged with vitality and energy which made him swallow his question.

" huh? Did what Exactly?—"

Sekhm asked cluelessly while scratching the back of his head but yozrasef Talked over him.

"—never mind, lets begin the training"

Yozrasef said while regaining his composur. the hesitation vanished from his eyes replaced by fire of determination and hardened resolve.

" alright, follow me"

Sekhm smirked instinctively while noticing the determination in his eyes.

They turned around, walking for 6 meters forward then they stood.

Yozrasef's eyes that once blazed with determination, now, is blazing with anticipation as he witnessed the scenery before him.

Standing on the edge of the massive crater that tore through the earth.

Looking through the crater, there was 10 tunnels that split and tored through the ground like spider-web.

witnessing the 10 tunnels, their structure was like a labyrinthine that was twisted and sprawled leading to a maze after twenty-four of crawling through the tunnels.

At that moment, yozrasef scratched the back of his head, sweat poured down his forehead as he was trying to understand how is he gonna be trained then it struck him, yozrasef hesitated but tried to compose himself.

' not after asking for power, I end up backing down now— I need to take responsibility'

Yozrasef thought inwardly try to compose himself but unfortunately his body Failed him in hiding that anticipation.

Sensing the hesitation coming from yozrasef's body movements, sekhm smirked.

"I'm sorry little guy but this is for the best"

Sekhm said while grinning mischievously.

His brown eyes burned with fury.

Yozrasef's face turned instinctively sensing something abnormal about to happen.

"What do you—?"

Yozrasef tried to ask, barely speaking but his sentence was cut off as brutal kick crashed into his spine, sending him flying like a ragdoll into the crater.
