Chapter 175 - Chapter 175: The World’s Second-Biggest Gang—Rensa!

After Bruce issued his official response, media and public opinion across the world turned sharply, laying out the full list of crimes committed by the Eighteenth Street gang. Words alone weren't enough to serve as evidence.

Once the FBI's reputation and internal pressure were managed, Bruce and Harrison immediately stepped into the interrogation room.

But no matter what they asked, how they pressured or tempted him, Davis didn't give up a single word.

From the time they brought Davis in during the morning until after 2:00 p.m., Bruce and Harrison still had nothing to show for it.

The two of them walked out of the interrogation room. Looking to Davis for a breakthrough now seemed increasingly unrealistic.

"Harrison, that guy's mouth is sealed tight. There's no prying it open."

"But that also proves something. Whatever he wanted Kaitō Kid to do must be extremely important."

Harrison nodded in agreement. Bruce's line of reasoning was spot on, even if he hadn't yet guessed the exact goal.

"It's about time. Bruce, I think Kaitō Kid's new heist notice is probably about to drop."

"Maybe once it's out, Davis will finally crack."

An hour earlier, the CIA had already sent over some of the evidence they'd gathered.

There was no way Davis was getting out now. The grounds for detaining him just kept piling up.

At nearly 3:00 p.m., Kaitō Kid finally posted a new update.

As always, it was a photo of a new heist notice.

"I heard the Rensa Group is loaded. Who knows if it's true? Get ready—I'm coming tonight!"

When Bruce and Harrison saw Zhang Yang's latest post, the first thing that came to mind was the Rensa Thirteen gang, followed by Davis's plot to use Kaitō Kid.

In the Eagle Nation, the Eighteenth Street gang ranked number one. Number two was the Rensa Thirteen gang.

But Rensa Thirteen had also founded the Rensa Group, which operated several legitimate businesses.

"Davis wants Kaitō Kid to go after the Rensa gang?"

Bruce and Harrison exchanged glances, then turned and headed straight back to the interrogation room.

The theory made too much sense. Bruce figured he didn't even need to confirm it. The truth had to be the Rensa gang.

Davis was still cuffed to the chair when they returned. Seeing them walk back in so quickly, his face twisted into a sneer.

"Kaitō Kid just released a new notice. Want to know what it says?"

Bruce shut the door and didn't bother with any more tricks. He casually sat on the desk and got straight to the point.

"Davis, your plan worked."

"Rensa Thirteen—your mortal enemy. Kaitō Kid's going after the Rensa Group tonight."

Davis's expression lit up. He did his best to suppress it, but Bruce wasn't buying it. Even if that joy only flashed for a second, Bruce caught it clearly.

That tiny reaction confirmed Bruce's suspicion. Davis had reached out to Kaitō Kid to strike at the Rensa gang.

"Davis, what do you want Kaitō Kid to do at the Rensa Group?"

"You think staying silent will get you out of here?"

Even now, Davis said nothing.

Despite being in custody and facing serious trouble, he knew he wasn't facing the death penalty yet. There was still room to maneuver.

But if he confessed, then he was finished. No way out.

Harrison patted Bruce's shoulder, silently signaling that it was time to lock Davis up again.

Bruce had seen enough. No matter what they did, this guy wasn't going to talk.

Now that Kaitō Kid had released a new heist notice, they should be focusing on preparing a counter-strategy instead of wasting time with Davis.

The connection between Davis and the Rensa Thirteen gang was so well known that once the new heist notice dropped, fans around the world were stunned.

[WTF? The Rensa gang from the Eagle Nation? Could Kaitō Kid really have been bought off by Davis?]

[Oh my god! No way! Could Davis really meet Kaitō Kid's conditions?]

[Unbelievable, completely nuts! A master thief working with the top gang boss of the Eagle Nation?]

[But Davis has already been arrested. The new heist notice shouldn't be related to him, right?]

[Totally unexpected! Who would've thought Kaitō Kid would target the Rensa gang next?]

Online discussions quickly filled with suspicion and disbelief.

Davis's identity was already sensitive, and Bruce had publicly revealed the content of his final two sentences.

At this exact moment, Zhang Yang's new heist notice targeted Davis's mortal enemy. Misunderstandings were bound to happen.

Still, there were voices of support as well, cheering Zhang Yang's next move.

[Doesn't matter if it's the Eighteenth Street gang or Rensa Thirteen—they're all scum. Good job, Kaitō Kid!]

[Shit! Best case scenario is wiping both gangs out!]

[Who knows what'll happen to the Rensa gang, but the Eighteenth Street boss is already in custody!]

[Bet they never expected to fall because of a master thief!]

[Oh my god! God bless Kaitō Kid!]

Zhang Yang's reason for heading to the Rensa Group vault wasn't the USB drive Davis mentioned.

It was because the system had issued a new mission: recover the Dragon Nation's Golden Threaded Jade Burial Suit.

This was a legendary artifact said to extend life, grant immortality, and even bring back the dead.

"A treasure like that in the Rensa gang's vault? Unbelievable!"

Zhang Yang hadn't expected it. In Dragon Nation legends, the Golden Threaded Jade Burial Suit had been practically mythologized.

There was still one unearthed suit in the Kyoto Museum, but its condition wasn't great.

"If the one in the Rensa Group's vault is in better shape, they're probably planning to sell it for an astronomical price."

"Highly unlikely they're keeping it for its collection value."

The Rensa gang and the Eighteenth Street gang were evenly matched. To outlaws like them, money and profit were everything.

In their eyes, the jade suit's cultural value was probably worth nothing.

Zhang Yang began investigating the Rensa Group and its mysterious vault.

"Back at the Old Water Plant, Davis mentioned that the vault's triple mechanical lock was modeled directly after the one at the Rensa Group."

"So cracking that security door won't be a problem."

Meeting Davis last night wasn't totally useless after all.

At the very least, Zhang Yang now had a clear idea of the kind of mechanical locks guarding the vault.

He started drafting a detailed plan step by step.

Meanwhile, locked away in the FBI detention center, Davis was still smug.

"As long as Kaitō Kid can get that USB drive, it's only a matter of time before I walk free."

"And it won't take long either."

With the tree still standing, there's always firewood to burn.

Davis was ecstatic. That USB had been a thorn in his side for ages. Getting arrested hadn't been part of the plan, but if the USB was recovered, everything would be worth it.
